Participation in Face-to-Face Classes

○ Some experiments, practical training and seminar classes will be conducted face-to-face. ○ Many classes will continue to be conducted online during the second semester. Please take online classes at home just like you did during the first semester.

Check to see how each class is being conducted (face-to-face, online, etc.)

○ Make sure to take your temperature and check your physical condition (breathlessness, weariness, etc.) every morning before coming to the campus. ○ If you have any symptoms—even if they are light—please stay at home. We will give ample consideration for absences due to these reasons. Please inform the Academic Affairs Division or section in charge of educational affairs* of your condition as soon as possible. ○ If you suspect that you may have been infected with COVID-19, if you came in close contact with an infected person, or if there is a family member or the like living with you that has been infected, please contact the section in charge of educational affairs* immediately. * For details, see “P4: Campus Contact Information.”

Health management when taking face-to-face classes:

■ Please be sure that you are fully aware of your class schedule (online and/or face-to-face). In principle, we expect students to take online classes at home, but we know that some students may need to take online classes on campus due to their class schedules. The times for some face-to-face classes may also change (timetable changes). Please make sure you know when you will be coming to the university, which classes are face-to-face and which are online, and so on. You can do this by checking the university website or getting in touch with the faculty members in charge of your classes in advance. ■ Take your classes online at home rather than on campus if at all possible <Important> There are concerns that having a large number of students taking classes online on campus at the same time could severely affect the campus network. We strongly encourage all students to take their online classes at home. However, if your class schedule forces you to take online classes while on campus, the university will respond accordingly. ■ Other If you are finding it difficult to participate in face-to-face classes because you have returned to your hometown or some other reason, please contact the section in charge of educational affairs and we will respond as flexibly as possible.

Participating in face-to-face classes

■ Please wear a mask and follow other coughing etiquette while on campus and when you are traveling. ■ Please avoid the "three Cs." Please be especially careful after classes and while eating. ■ Please wash your hands thoroughly and at the correct times. Be sure to wash your hands when you arrive on campus, before and after meals, after using public facilities and materials, after blowing your nose, etc. Method: Use soap and water to wash your hands and wrists for at least thirty seconds, rinse completely with water, and dry them with a clean handkerchief. ■ Maintain physical distance (one or two meters): Please be aware of this when standing in line Notes: 1. Please refer to the “TMU Guideline for Infection Prevention in Student Life” for details. 2. Please refer to “Guidelines for Preventing the Spread of COVID-19” for details.

Points to note while on campus: For the safety of you and the whole university

* Section in charge of educational affairs: The Academic Affairs Division is in charge of all first-year students, as well as all second-year students with the exception of students in the Faculty of Health Sciences. The academic affairs section of a student’s affiliated faculty or graduate school is responsible for undergraduate students in their third year and above, and for graduate school students (second year and above for students in the Faculty of Health Sciences).

Disinfectants have been installed in various locations on campus Locations ・ Entrances of buildings, in front of classrooms, students’ rooms, in front of laboratories, inside libraries, computer classrooms, cafeterias, in front of service windows, etc.

We have implemented the following measures to prevent droplet infection: Service windows ・ Plastic acrylic sheets are installed at service windows ・ Service window staff members wear masks or face shields Classrooms ・ Acrylic boards are installed in front of the podium to prevent droplet infection Cafeteria ・ Partitions (acrylic boards) are installed at tables to prevent droplet infection ・ Items that are frequently touched (doorknobs and switches) in common areas and classrooms are regularly cleaned and disinfected with disinfectant solution. ・ In addition to those items, the desks and PCs in libraries and computer classrooms are periodically disinfected. ・ Equipment for common use, such as laboratory equipment and microphones, are also periodically disinfected. ・ Air conditioners in classrooms and other areas are operated to ensure good ventilation. ・ In addition, two-way ventilation is conducted whenever possible. ・ A maximum capacity is set for each classroom so that there is ample distance between students when conducting classes. We will limit the number of seats in the library and cafeteria, as well as benches and tables in open spaces. Notifications will be posted in open spaces as a reminder. In addition to establishing a research system that takes into consideration the prevention of crowding in laboratories, each laboratory has a thorough control system for day-to-day room access. TMU has secured the necessary equipment and supplies, such as installing non-contact thermometers at each campus.
