Methodology
The survey was conducted online with 2,099 respondents in English and French using an internet surveyplatform. A random sample of panelists was invited to participate in the survey from a larger internetrepresentative panel of over 150,000 Canadians. The survey was completed from August 10-12, 2012.
An over sample of was conducted in British Columbia (n=793) and Ontario (n=502).
The data was statistically weighted by age, gender, region, and education level according to census data.
Since the online survey was not a random, probability based sample, a margin of error could not becalculated. The margin of error for a survey of 2,099 respondents using a probability sample is +/- 2.2%, 19times out of 20.
These questions were posed as part of the Abacus monthly Omnibus.
For more information about the polls methodology, visit the Abacus website at www.abacusdata.ca

Premier Christy ClarkQ: In July, British Columbia Premier Christy Clark outlined five conditions that must be met before
the B.C. government would support the Northern Gateway Pipeline.
One of those conditions is that B.C. receives its fair share of tax revenue for the environmental risk
it is taking in the pipeline carrying heavy oil to the B.C. port of Kitimat and he increased oil tankertraffic. Right now, the federal government and Alberta would be the main beneficiaries of the
pipeline.
Which of the following statements, if either, come closest to your view on this dispute?
a. Christy Clark is right. If B.C. is assuming most of the risk for oil spills and environmental
damage, it should receive more of the economic benefit then it would currently receive.
b. Christy Clark is wrong. Provinces should not be able to prevent another province from selling its
goods and resources to other markets when they have to be transported across provincial
boundaries
