The Christ will suffer and rise from the dead on the third day, and repentance and forgiveness of sins will be preached in hi s name.
Administrator’s Message
We look forward with great joy to the celebration of the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on Easter Sunday. During the season of Lent the students at All Saints have been reminded of Christ’s sacrifice for us and they have given freely of
themselves to others. The Lenten season gives us opportunities to grow closer to God as we are called to open ourselves to change and be the light of Christ for others. Lent can be viewed as a spiritual spring cleaning: a time for taking spiritual inventory and then cleaning out those things which hinder our personal relationship with Jesus. God’s love illuminates our world and gives us courage to work towards building his Kingdom here on earth. If Christ is risen, then we have the ultimate hope of humanity – eternal life with God. It is news that the world cannot ignore, that we cannot neglect, it is the news of joy immeasurable. What does Easter mean for Christians? It means that Christ is risen! Hallelujah On behalf of the entire staff at All Saints, we wish our students and their families and the entire school community a Holy and Blessed Easter season. D. Whicher Vice Principal

Pan Am Games
On Feb. 23rd, Pachi (the 2015 Pan Am/Para Pan Am games mascot) came to our school. I learned that 41 countries will be in the Pan Am games. I also learned that 10,000 athletes will be participating in the Pan Am games. Finally, I learned
that Pachi has 3 favourite foods: leaves, bark, and fruit. It was a great day! Erika Grade 2 Ms. Radzinski’s class
On Wednesday March 11, All Saints School participated in the TCDSB Autism Awareness Day. It was an exciting day at the school. We were pleased to welcome the TCDSB Director of Education, Angela Gauthier
and the Head of Autism Services, Susan Menery to the school for our celebration. The theme of the day was “We are all unique yet we all fit together in a community”. The entire school community wore blue shirts in support of autism awareness, as blue is the colour for autism. The school also held an assembly to teach the students about autism and what it is like to live with it. We were blessed to have two speakers come and share their experiences with the students. Sam De Caria came and talked about what autism is and what it like for his son and their family. Angelo Ventura spoke to the students about his life with autism, his struggles and his successes. The students and staff were all moved by what they heard from the speakers. Then as a community we celebrated those students in the school who have autism by participating in the board wide line dance “We are Stars”. All Saints is a special place where students of all abilities are welcomed and encouraged to be the best they can be.
Junior W5H Update The Junior W5H team has wrapped up the 2014 season. The team started practicing in November for the season. They willingly gave up most of their
lunch recesses until the competitions in February, to practice as a team. They competed in the Preliminary Round held at All Saints School. They demonstrated excellent sportspersonship and
played well. Congratulations go out to Grace Bogdani, Cristina Saverino, Daniel Amortegui, Lucas Dudemaine, Amalie Kanne, Adam Belluzzo,
Mikayla Menezes and Daniel Paula.
The library has become a whirlwind of excitement as many junior and intermediate students are busy reading selections from the ten nominated titles in each of the Silver Birch Express, Silver
Birch Fiction and Non-Fiction, and Red Maple Fiction and Non-Fiction categories. All books are written by Canadian authors.
As the end of the reading period nears, the students are preparing to vote on their favourite book. Voting for the Silver Birch and Red Maple Programs will take place on Tuesday April 14, 2015. Primary students have listened to each of the ten nominated books in the Blue Spruce program and will also participate in the cross-Ontario vote the week of April 13. The votes will be tabulated and forwarded to the Ontario Library Association by April 30, 2015. The winners for each category are announced May 12-13, 2015.
Many thanks to our teacher supervisor Mrs. Mauro as well as the All Saints School CSAC for generously funding this program. All three book clubs aim to promote increased interest in reading and responding to books. Congratulations to the All Saints community for their enthusiasm and commitment towards fostering literacy!
Mrs. S. Buongiorno

We would like to congratulate: Julia Pizzonia (Grade 2), Milena Constantini (representing Grade 4) and Hana Truchla (Grade 7), who placed third and will by advancing to the City Finals. As well, congratulations to all participants: Tatiana Saavedra, Victoria Caceres-Paredes, Elena Sipar, and Alessandra De Luca, who demonstrated tremendous skill, sportspersonship and spirit. We look forward to participating in the upcoming TCDSB Tournaments in the Spring.
Safe Schools
Visitors to the School
Toronto Catholic District School
Board policy states that all visitors
to the school MUST report to the office. This is foremost to ensure the safety of all students. In an
effort to promote the independence of the students and to ensure the integrity of programs by minimizing interruptions during class time, we request that students arrive prepared for the school day with all the items they require (i.e. homework, lunch, physical education clothing, musical instruments etc.). If you would like to contact your child’s teacher, you may do so through the school office. Please try to make after school arrangements before school.
Allergen Aware
Please take special note that we have children in our school who have very serious allergies to nut products. According to Sabrina’s Law, we must make every effort to maintain a nut free environment in order to help keep these children safe. We ask that you not bring in or send in any food items to be shared with other students in the class. Please note that baked goods and treats are not permitted for birthday celebrations. Please consider other options that do not involve any food. We apologize for the inconvenience; however, we are certain you will agree that these measures are necessary in order to ensure the safety and welfare of our children.
Personal Property
The school does not take any responsibility for the loss or theft of personal items brought onto school premises by students. The school will therefore, not reimburse or replace lost or stolen articles, under any circumstances. This will include all articles of clothing (label items with a marker); personal school supplies such as fancy or expensive pens, markers, binders and pencil cases, etc.; simple or electronic toys; calculators, laptops, iPod’s, CD’s, etc. Please note that collector cards of any kind are not permitted, in addition to all cell phones and any other social media devices. These items will be immediately confiscated by staff and brought to the Principal’s
attention. We ask both parents and students for their full co-operation in this matter. (Please note that the Board’s insurance policy does not cover property owned by staff or students).
Safe Arrival and Departure
We continue to remind you to contact the school before 8:30 a.m. if your child is going to be absent from school. If we are unable to take your call, you can leave a message on our answering machine. Please ensure that we have a current emergency number where you can be contacted. If you are picking up your child early, please send a note to your child’s teacher. Please be sure to report to the office to sign them out. If you are returning before the end of the day, please sign
your child back in at the office. All students on
buses must ride the buses to and from school
every day.
Reporting of cancellations or closures due
to inclement weather
Cancellation of school bus transportation or school closures due to inclement weather will be reported through the following vehicles: News releases to all media
outlets in Toronto (Note: although the news release is provided to the media outlets, there is no guarantee that all television and radio stations will broadcast the information in a timely fashion.) Communications will endeavour to send an email to everyone on exchange to advise them of any cancellations or closures. Communications will also endeavour to send out the information electronically to E-News subscribers (Note: If you do not already subscribe to E-News, but wish to do so, please visit our website at www.tcdsb.org and click on the E-News icon on the top right hand side of the homepage). Updates will also be posted on the Board’s 24-hour information line, 416-222-8282, extension 2873. The information will also be posted on the Board’s website at www.tcdsb.org or www.tcdsb.org/weather.htm. The Transportation Department will post this information on its website at http://www.schoolbus.to/c_home.asp
Inclement Weather
On days when the weather is inclement the students may be permitted to enter the building at 8:15am. On
such days, the recess periods may be indoor and those students who stay for lunch will be supervised in the building. Weather conditions must be particularly severe, cold weather alone does not warrant an early entry into the building or indoor recess periods. Those decisions will be made accordingly. We believe that children profit greatly from recess breaks as they get out into the fresh air and burn off some energy in play activities. This will make them more alert and ready to continue their studies when they come in. It is important for children, particularly the younger children in the primary grades, to come to school dressed properly for the weather. A reminder to everyone that students who are well enough to be at school are well enough to go out for recess. We do not have personnel to supervise students who wish to stay in for recess due to illness. If they are too ill to go out for recess, then they should be home for the day. This will allow for quicker recovery and less teaching and learning time lost to illness.
Attendance, Punctuality
and Preparation
The Education Act states that students must attend school regularly and punctually. Parents are to notify the school (416) 393-5290 of a child’s absence. You may call anytime and leave a message on the answering machine. Students who arrive late for school must check in at the main office to ensure safe arrival and to help in keeping accurate attendance profiles. Attendance referrals will be sent to the Social Worker and persistent tardiness may result in school detentions. Students are expected to arrive prior to the bell. All students are to arrive prepared to work and learn. Preparation includes the completion of daily assignments that are done to the best of the individual student’s ability. Preparation also implies that the student devotes appropriate time to study in advance of test situations.
Parking
A reminder that the school parking lot
is for staff only. Please do not use it
for parking as we do not have enough spots for staff. Our students have been instructed not to enter the parking lot for safety reasons. Father Glaba has graciously volunteered the use of the church parking lot for our parents. Please observe and respect the “in” and “out” flow in the church
parking lot. There is absolutely NO PARKING in the handicapped spaces at the front of the school. The fine is substantial and we need to have those spaces clear for their appropriate use by those that need them. A reminder to all that Renault is strictly a “Drop Off Kiss and Ride”, and there is absolutely no parking permitted within the sign boundaries. Everyone is encouraged to use the
PSP in the school parking lot. Police and
Parking Enforcement have assured us that
Renault will be closely monitored for proper
use.
Medication
Principals, teachers and support staff of the TCDSB are not permitted to administer any type of prescription medication during the school day, unless we have written, authorization signed by you the parent,
and the prescribing physician. The forms to dispense any medication must be updated on a regular basis and are available from the school principal. Please be advised that staff in TCDSB schools will not dispense non-prescription medications to students. Students who need “puffers” should have one at school and at home. All medications will be stored in the main office. Please notify the school if your child suffers from any type of allergy.
Parent / School Communication
Please note that communication is very important regarding your child’s progress. Remember if you are unable to make a phone call,
another effective tool of communication is your child’s agenda. Please check your child’s agenda on a nightly basis and sign it as a confirmation that you have seen your child’s agenda. This will certify that your child has completed all required homework to the best of his/her ability and is therefore ready for school the next day. Thank you for your support in setting up your children for academic success.
Extra-Curricular Activities
Hockey Team
The All Saints Thunder ice hockey team is proud to announce its fifth consecutive hockey team since 2009/2010. This year's team is comprised of 17 players from grades 6-8. The players have been
working hard after school since January practicing on Wednesdays for one hour a week at Pinepoint Arena. We completed a seeding tournament on March 09, 2015 and we won 3 out of 4 games; which placed All Saints in a very competitive "B" pool. This is the highest seeding for All Saints in our 5 year history. We played our second round on March 26, 2015 at York University Canlan Sports Arena. This is an Elimination Round and our little Thunders were very competitive this year gaining a lot of respect as we lost close games to Father Serra 1-0, St.John's 1-0 and O.L.P. 3-0. Special thanks goes out to the parents for supporting their hockey players by bringing them to and from practices and games. The hockey team would also like to thank our Principal, Mr. Morsillo, coaches and CSAC for supporting and building an ice hockey team and culture in our school community. Here is a list of our coaches and trainers: Mr. Dan (Head Coach), Mrs. Ward (Assistant Coach), Ms. Culotta (Assistant Coach), Mr. Broome (Parent Volunteer), Mr. Takacs (Teacher Volunteer) Ms. McGarvey (Head Trainer). Here is a list of our hockey team: Christian Ferlisi (grade 6), Luca Delellis (grade 6), Luke So (grade 7), Gabriel Battista (grade 6), Cristian Capobianco (grade 7), Daniel Cassano (grade 7), AJ Carnevale (grade 7), Lucas Dudemaine (grade 7), Madeline Teti (grade 7), Alex Chimenti (grade 8), Andrew Roberts (grade 8), Jordan Broome (grade 8), Michael Mariano (grade 6), Alessandro Supino
(grade 7). MARLIES: Thiago Neto (grade 6), John Spyropoulos (grade 6), Gabriel Roberts (grade 6), Nicholas Lucianetti (grade 6).
Intermediate Basketball
Boys: Close calls cost Regional repeat – The potential to return to the second round for boys’ basketball was high when this year’s squad returned to action. Which is why the sting of a 0-3 record at the Divisionals hung around for quite some
time afterwards. Each game was highly contested and within the grasp of the young gentlemen (we lead each game), but one thing or another resulted in All Saints being on the wrong side of the win-loss column. A huge thank you to the boys who showed commitment to the team. We also can’t forget the parents who helped with transportation and waited for after school practices to end.
The 2014 – 2015 Boys’ Team Roster Devin D’Gama (Captain), Adam Guido, Max Czul, Alex Chimenti, Michael Macri, Jeffery Agyei, Justin Agyei, Marcus Vivart, Marco Bova, Daniel Cassano, Steven Sterkaj, Jordan Broome, Eric Kovacs
Girls: Three is a magic number – The divisional pennant streak continued this year on the hardcourt for the young ladies of All Saints as they put on another stellar showing. This year marked an additional divisional title and another visit to the Regionals which lead to a spot in the City round. What made this possible was a combination of returning players from last year’s dominant roster and a few new welcomed additions. This helped maintain our place as one of the top contenders from the West. Next year should be no different!
In the past three years, the girls have amassed a superb record of 27 – 12 gaining three divisional pennant titles, one regional finalist pennant, a first place finish at the Arch Bishop Romero tournament, second place at the Pope John Paul II tournament and were just one game away from making it to City’s final four round this year with a tightly contested 27 – 20 loss to Francis de Sales. The sixth place overall result at the City’s is nothing to be taken lightly as our girls were one of the best of the best in our entire board. Let’s get back to the City round again in 2015 – 2016!
It was a long season and the coaching staff want to send a huge amount of gratitude to the parents of these basketball ladies. There were a lot of travel days for games and parent volunteers helped immensely. All those practices (morning, lunch and after school) paid off ladies! We are proud of you! The Raptors say “WE THE NORTH”, but we say, “WE THE SAINTS!”
The 2014 – 2015 Girls’ Team Roster – Emma Reial (Captain), Daniela Lima, Sophie Asselstine, Jasmine Broderick-Bobadilla, Tristen Dinneen, Emily Pinho, Lily Rovinelli, Julia Oliveria, Alyssa Charles, Klara Wroblewski, Briana Pucciarelli, Sarah Adamo, Giselle Toro-Lagos, Aniela Zimecki
Junior Volleyball
On Wednesday, March 25, the boys’ junior volleyball team played their divisional tournament against teams from St. Clement, Our Lady of Peace, and Mother Cabrini. In the round-robin portion of the
tournament, the team got off to a fast start by beating St. Clement by a score of 25-21. The boys fought hard in game two but came up short, losing 25-19. Next up was the team from Our Lady of Peace, which rode strong serving to victories by scores of 25-20 and 25-7. In the concluding preliminary match, All Saints split the final two round-robin games with Mother Cabrini. As a result of their 2 win and 4 loss record, the boys were in third place and played St. Clement in the semi-final. The boys played two evenly matched games but were defeated by the more consistent serving of the boys from St. Clement. The boys wish the Regionals-bound girls’ team luck and look forward to playing them at a future date. The team members are: Matteo Calabrese, Francesco Adamo, Sultan Alimzhnov, Julian Mandarino, Erwin Michaud, Matthew Bova, Samuel Desta, Adam Belluzzo, Christian Ferlisi, Michael Mariano, Tomas Mendoza, John Spyropoulous, Alessandro Testani, and Daniel Paula. On Thursday, March 26, the girls’ junior volleyball team played their divisional tournament against teams from St. Clement, Our Lady of Peace, and Mother Cabrini. The team began its quest for a championship banner with a match against St. Clement. The team served consistently and played well defensively, winning the games by scores of 25-12 and 25-21. The girls’ second match of the day pitted them against Our Lady of Peace. The team had difficulty finding their game and made a number of unforced errors against the consistent play of O.L.O.P. As a result, they were defeated by scores of 25-21 and 25-18. In their final round robin match-up, the girls picked up their play and defeated Mother Cabrini by scores of 25-8 and 25-13. In the semi-finals, the team faced an energized squad from St. Clement.
The first game was hard fought and All Saints came out victorious by a score of 25-16. The second game was a nail-biter right to the end, with many hotly contested and exciting points. Tied at 24-24, the girls were unable to clinch the final point and lost 25-24. In the tie-breaking, Victoria Medeiros fired off five serves in row to get the girls out to a comfortable lead. The entire team put on a defensive clinic for the remainder of the set and went on to win 15-6. The team advanced to play Our Lady of Peace in the finals, and the girls served, spiked, and played defence with incredible intensity. The girls would not be denied on this day. They won the divisional championship by scores of 25-16 and 25-10, and will move on to play at the Regional Finals on Thursday, April 9 at Holy Child. Congratulations on your victory, girls. The team members are: Amalie Kanne, Isabel Guido, Jasmine Broderick-Bobadilla, Victoria Medeiros, Valjeta Elezaj, Charlotte Marche, Marianna Masri, Maria Acosta, Elena Grisolia, Mackenzie Pancer-Cinque, Nadia Guido, Madeline Pelosi, Amelia Campoli, Victoria Inadagbo, and Chloe Franczak.
Junior Basketball Junior basketball tryouts are now under way. There is a high level of interest from both boys and girls. If you haven't done so, please see Mr. Takacs immediately for a permission form to tryout. First cuts will begin after Easter. Go Saints!
Eco School - Earth Hour
The Eco Schools committee worked diligently in preparing the school for Earth Hour. The students prepared announcements to educate
the student population about earth hour. Our school participated in Earth Hour from 10:00am to 11:00am on Friday March 27, 2015. Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change.
All Saints Swim Team – 2014/2015
The Toronto Catholic District School Swim Invitational was held on the weekend of March 7th and 8th, with over 1,200
swimmers participating in the event. The team from All Saints had a great showing, placing 14th overall out of a total of
30 schools. Congratulations to all the swimmers and coaches who proudly represented All Saints. The team was
successful in making it into the Finals of 27 different events. A special congratulations to Michael Dodaro who won a

Bullying Awareness and Prevention for All Saints “Above all, clothe yourselves with love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the
peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in the one body.” Colossians 3: 14-15
Ontario Provincial Definition of Bullying:
Bullying is typically a form of repeated, persistent, aggressive behaviour that is directed at an individual(s)
that is intended to cause (or should be known to cause) fear, distress and/or harm to another person’s body,
feelings, self-esteem, reputation or property. This behaviour creates a negative environment at the school for
the victim(s). Bullying occurs in a context where there is a real or perceived power imbalance. Bill 212,
PPM144
Bullying is not impulsive aggression toward another student, nor is it synonymous with conflict.
Creating a Caring and Safe School Climate Infuse Gospel values through formal programs and teachable moments
o Religious Education and Family Live program along with other curriculum opportunities
o Monthly Virtues e.g. Hospitality, Love, Forgiveness
o Catholic Graduate Expectations e.g. Responsible Citizen, Caring Family Member
o Daily morning announcements e.g. Virtue quotes
o Teachers and support staff continuously model and reinforce expected behaviour
A system has been established to report bullying in a safe and confidential manner
o Child and Youth Work
o Social Worker/Guidance Councilor
o Teachers and Administration
o Trusted, caring adult within the school e.g. Caretaker, secretaries, etc.
Delivering a formal/informal bullying awareness and prevention program that identifies the specific
behaviours associated with bullying; teaches a variety of safe and assertive responses
o Organized events e.g. Stay Driven presentation; International Day of Pink
o Day-to-day conversations with students as the need arises
Safe and Caring Catholic School Climate surveys to be completed by all Grade 6 and Grade 8 students (student
voice)
It Will Only Work if We All Work Together What students can do
All students must treat each other with respect and be inclusive e.g. No Put Downs, welcoming each other
into your games/activities
Make a commitment to treat others as they want to be treated
Learn strategies for intervening in challenging situations
ASK FOR HELP
Reporting bullying is not ratting or snitching but a responsible action R.A.T. – Right Action Taken
How Families Can Help
Be Calm
Listen carefully to what your child is saying
Encourage your child to seek help from another trusted adult and friends
Model assertive behaviour rather than aggression as a way to manage conflict
Report concerns to the school and ask how you can work together to support your child
What All Saints Is Doing
We use the Safe School Climate Survey to help build a welcoming and inclusive environment
Collaborate with families to resolve bullying situations
Establish clear rules against bullying behaviour; this information is located at the front of the student’s agenda
under Code of Conduct, as well as, in monthly newsletters
Apply consequences following All Saint’s Progressive Discipline plan
Access TCDSB services and community based supports e.g. outside agencies, presentations, etc.
