trichinosis in this state. Thqre are very fev cases of

this disease at this particular tinee and it gas felt by

thea. by the iniversity of Iiliaois and other facz

organizations, that this is the time to really Kaàe the

state of Illinais trichinosis free. Thak's whak tbe Bill

does. It allows testing on farms and certainly. aaupling

wauld be taken in slaughter houses. It alloes quarantine

by tbe Departzent of àgricqlture on herds that are found to

contain trichinosis. It allovs, if trichinosis is found in

trying to control... and now, I don't vant to be tbe person

that has to ;ig into the t:roat of a honeybee to pull out a

lite. but tbe DepartmeRt of àgricqttlre *aG reqqested that

we introduce this Bill to be able to quarantine the queen

bee and her attendaats so that the ilmigration of this

southern mite gould not be infecting a11 of the hives of

honeybees in the state of Illinois. ïou migh: be

iuterested to knou that this sounis like a very small Bill

and a very small industry. Honeybees prodqce about

$2.000.000 Worth of honey in this state per year. But you

knov vba'e khey polltnate aboqt $60,000:000 vorth of crops

in this s'ake. and so it's a verg iaporkant industry. In

additione the Bill has beea amended to allow the Department

of àgriculture to quarantine or to destroy what we call

'killer bees' or 'African Beese. Thece was a sbip tha:
