Problem DefinitionProblems with Plastic Waste.• Plastic waste is available in plenty almost at
every place. Plastic pouches, small and big plastic bags, carry bags etc. are major constituents.
• Rag pickers pick large sized and heavy gauge plastic bags only as picking small sized waste can not earn them a day’s wage.

Waste trapped in bushes
Thorny and bushy areas on road and gutter sides.
Unattended empty spaces and difficult to access areas are full of waste. These are common sites in almost all cities and towns.

Who will put hand in this area to gather the plastic waste? All this waste finds its way in gutters and drains blocking them and causing all menace.

Problem definition: Summerised• It is almost impossible to sweep plastic waste from the areas
where the base surface is soft or soggy.• Cleaning river banks and beaches is a tough task.• Picking plastic from bushy, thorny areas is not practicable and
is never picked up.• Plastic and paper waste in wet, soggy, dirty areas are not
picked up by rag pickers and sweepers. Nobody will like to put hand in such dirty areas.
• Small sized plastic bags, pouches etc. are not picked by the rag pickers as it can’t earn him a day’s wage.
• Cleaning plastic waste from beaches and river banks is a huge challenge.
New design of ‘A Waste Pricker ’ can solve this problem of waste collection to large extent.
This can be used to collect large quantities of plastic, paper, cloths/textile and similar waste in short time, without dirtying hands.

• Screw is only consumable item. Cheaply available at Rs. 2 per piece or so.
• Collecting plastic in standing posture is comfortable for users.
• Without dirtying hands its possible to pick plastic from wet, soggy areas, gutters, river banks and beaches.
• Overall landed cost of the unit is less than Rs. 300/- only.• Weight of ‘Gandhi Chhadi’ : approx. 400 gms.• Minimum order quantity is 2 units and in multiple.• A dignified solution for rag pickers and municipal workers .
