OverviewThisreportoutlinesthevisionforacommuterraillineconnectingSantaquinwithProvo.

SantaquinFrontRunnerExtensionTheFrontRunnerextensiontoSantaquinwouldbeapproximately22.1milesinlength. Thisraillinewouldbea

southernextensionoftheFrontRunnerlineoperatedbytheUtahTransitAuthority(UTA). Currently

FrontRunnerconnectsOgdenandSaltLakeCity. AnextensionconnectingSaltLakeCityandProvoiscurrently

underconstructionandisexpectedtobecompletedin2013.

StationsTheFrontRunnerextensionwouldincludestationsatSantaquin,Payson,andSpanishForkandwouldconnectto

theexistinglineattheProvostation.

VehiclesServiceontheextensionwouldbeprovidedbyrunningFrontRunnertrainsfurthersouthalongthenewline.

ThecurrentFrontRunnertrainsetconsistsofadieselelectriclocomotiveatoneendandacabcoachattheother

endwithadditionalcoachesbetweenthelocomotiveandcabcoachasneeded.Asthelocomotivesarecapable

ofmovinguptotencoaches,thisprovidesforaseatingcapacityrangingfromapproximately130to1,300seats

dependingonhowmanycoachesareinthetrainset. Thetrainsethasanoperatorcabatbothends,eliminating

theneedtoturnaroundthetrainsetattheendofeachrun. ThecurrentFrontRunnertrainsetshaveamaximum

operatingspeedof79mph.

way,orlieonanewrightofwayandalsothenewstations. TheMileagesbetweenStationsisthesameastheProposalOverviewbutshowsthedistanceinmilesbetweenthestationsofthenewFrontRunnerline. The
