is off the charts! Autumn in the Northeast...the colors are brilliant and
the sights spectacular, so “Wow” yourself and join Personalized Tours on
this fall extravaganza. This tour is not your typical New England tour,
but one that travels the back roads to quaint villages and towns,
Day 1—Depart
Excited to start our trek to the northeast as we get acquainted with our fellow travelers.
The day passes quickly before our evening stay in the Cleveland area. (D)
Day 2—Travel Day
We have a delicious breakfast before departing Cleveland this morning. Our colorful drive
looks as though the trees where painted with a brush and outline our path heading
through New York State. (B)
Day 3—Arrive in Boston, MA
Upon arrival in Boston, there will be many options for lunch at Faneuil Hall after greeting
our local guide. Our first stop will be the Boston Tea Party Museum. Relive the event that
started the Revolution. Next, we’ll have the option to explore either the John F. Kennedy
Presidential Library and Museum or the Edward M. Kennedy Institute. Dinner will be
included tonight at a local favorite. (B, D)
Day 4—Explore Boston
We start our day with a tour of Boston with our local guide. Our first stop will be at
Fenway Park. Baseball lover or not, Fenway has stories to tell! Trinity Church is next on
the list. This Boston treasure will feature a one-hour guided tour. After our trip around the
city, we will board the USS Constitution Museum Ship, where you will be able to talk to
sailors about their experiences and hear fantastic stories. There will then be time to
explore the beautiful Old North Church. Our final stop of the day will be at the Paul
Revere House. Our museum guide will lead us through the house and answer any
questions you may have. Dinner tonight will be in the North End. (B, D)
Day 5—Vermont Arrival
After leaving Boston, we make our way to Vermont. Our first stop will be the Mt.
Kearsarge Native American Indian Museum. Situated on 12.5 acres with spectacular
views of the Mink Hills and Mt. Kearsarge, this Indian museum is more than just a building
filled with art, it connects people to 20,000 years of ongoing Native American cultural
expression and stories of sustenance and healing. Next we will stop at King Arthur Flour
for a short history lesson and tasting of their famous bread. Our last stop is Rock of Ages,
the largest deep-hole granite quarry in the world. Our tour will tell us all about the history,
the area’s cultural heritage, artistry, geology, and more. (B, D)
Day 6—Wine and Ice Cream
Another busy day—we begin by visiting the famed Trapp Family Lodge for a wonderful
tour. This lodge is where the Von Trapps made their home after leaving Austria during
World War II. Next we make a stop at a local Cider Mill and Winery: a Vermont legend
since 1974, this mill is now New England’s largest producer of apple cider. Ready for a
sweet treat? Ben and Jerry’s is where we head next and enjoy a visit to hear about this
famous “scoop shop.” We end our day with a stop at the New England’s Smithsonian. This
museum is unparalleled in American history, art and design. (B, D)
Day 7—Country Pleasures
Our local guide will meet us today before our first stop at a Morgan Horse Farm. At the
farm, the staff is dedicated to maintaining and training Vermont’s state animal. We’ll learn
about its history and see the beautiful Morgan’s up close. This afternoon, we make a stop
at the home of Robert Todd Lincoln, Hildene. This is where Lincoln’s descendants lived
until 1975. The Norman Rockwell Poster Museum is next on the agenda. This wonderful,
small museum collection has an array of work by Norman Rockwell. Finally, we stop at the
Vermont Country Store. You’ll find brands such as Tangee Lipstick, Buster Brown Socks,
and Tinkertoys — a real trip down memory lane. (B, D)
Day 8—Maine
St. Gaudens National Historic Site will be our first place to explore this morning along with
an informative tour. A true New England town will be our location for lunch before arriving
in Maine and sluicing for our own rare minerals! A local expert will help identify your finds
before we head off the a Maine Balsam Tree Farm, where we will take a tour and create
our own memorable take-home treasure. (B, D)
Day 9—Explore Maine
After breakfast we have a full day of exploring Maine. The Maine Wildlife Park is home to
more than 30 species of Maine wildlife that cannot be returned to their natural habitats.
Our guide will lead us through the park and help us see some beautiful animals like the
mighty moose. Lunch will be in Boothbay Harbor on your own before we enjoy a cruise.
Lighthouses, playful seals, snug coves, and busy harbors are just some of what we’ll see.
Before our dinner in Portland, we will stop by a local potter in downtown for a
demonstration and a look around their shop. (B, D)
Day 10—Lobsters Aplenty
The day is spent exploring Maine culture, including a lobstering lesson along the rocky
Maine coastline. Not only will you see lobster traps hauled from the sea, but you will learn
about the challenging life of a lobster fisherman. Our local guide in Kennebunkport will
take us on a tour of the region, including the summer cottage of Former President George
H.W. Bush. (B)
Day 11—Westerly Direction
We are amazed at how fast our journey through New England went. So many sights and so
much information on things we have never experienced before. (B, D)
Day 12—Home Sweet Home
After a fantastic 12 days filled with beautiful scenery, intriguing history, great food and
new friends, we arrive home. (B)
