Our prototype system is:

Easy to use

Comfortable for the patients and practical for the users

Small and light

Conclusions

With a pleasant design

Has adequate precision and can be produced at low price

The electromagnetic sensors used proved to be suitable for this application

The neural network used was essential to obtain the coordinates from the electrical signals of the sensors

Some perspectives of future work are:

Clinical validation: the use of our prototype in various medical exams

Future Work

Neuronal networks: the study of the employment of more complex neural networks to have a more precise conversion and interpolation

More applications: export the exam data acquired to some standard articulators systems; and animation of virtual mandibles using the movement acquired
