Key words: Student’s Difficulty, Speaking English.

Speaking is a skill that can produce word by word into sentences. In

speaking there are many components, they are grammar, vocabulary, fluency,

comprehension and also pronunciation. Speaking also needs more practice because

speaking is a difficult skill. So, the students must be practiced every day. In the

fact, students don’t want to speak English and they have difficulty in speaking

English. The difficulties are: they are scared about committing mistakes when they

are speaking English, they can’t express well or adequately because they are lack

adequate and appropriate vocabularies. Another difficulty that makes students

hesitate in speaking English is they are shy and nervous. They feel fearful to speak

English in front of other people, they can’t arrange word by word into sentences.

But, there are many factors that cause difficulty in speaking English, the factors

are: Lack of fluency, lack of vocabulary, lack of grammar, lack of pronunciation,

shy and nervous.

The objective of the research is to find out the factors that cause difficulty in

speaking English of SMKN 1 KUDUS in academic year 2015/2016.

The writer used descriptive qualitative investigation exactly case study. The

method is used to describe the factors which are faced by the students of SMKN 1

KUDUS in academic year 2015/2016. The writer collects the data through the

questionnaire. The writer analyzed the qualitative data by identifying, classifying,

and describing the factors which are faced by the students of SMKN 1 KUDUS in

academic year 2015/2016.

In the result of the research, the writer concludes that the factors which are

faced the students because of themselves not caused by the teacher. There are 5

factors that are faced by the students of SMKN 1 KUDUS in academic year

2015/2016. Therefore, the writer suggests in learning grammar and vocabulary,

listening the English music, watching the English movie, joining English club,

practice in speaking. The last is the students should study and practice speaking

English.

Kata kunci: Kesulitan Siswa, Berbicara Bahasa Inggris.

Berbicara adalah kemampuan yang dapat menghasilkan kata per kata

menjadi kalimat. Ada banyak komponen berbicara yaitu: kosa kata, kefasihan,

pemahaman, dan pelafalan. Berbicara juga memerlukan latihan karena berbicara

adalah kemampuan yang sangat sulit. Jadi, siswa harus berlatih berbicara bahasa

inggris setiap hari. Tetapi pada kenyataanya, siswa tidak mau berbicara bahasa

inggris dan mereka mendapatkan kesulitan berbicara bahasa inggris, kesulitanya

adalah: siswa takut membuat kesalahan ketika mereka berbicara, siswa tidak bisa

mengekspresikan dengan baik karena kosakata yang kurang. Kesulitan lain adalah

membuat siswa ragu dalam berbicara karena gugup dan malu. Siswa merasa takut

berbicara bahasa inggris di depan orang lain, siswa tidak bisa menyusun kata per

kata menjadi kalimat. Tetapi, banyak faktor yang menyebabkan kesulitan berbicara

bahasa inggris seperti: kekurangan kosakata, kekurangan grammar, kekurangan

pelafalan, gugup dan malu.

Tujuan penelitian adalah menemukan faktor penyebab kesulitan berbicara

bahasa inggris di SMKN 1 KUDUS tahun ajaran 2015/2016.

Penulis menggunakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif tepatnya studi kasus.

Metode penelitian yang di gunakan untuk mendeskripsikan faktor yang di alami

siswa di SMKN 1 KUDUS tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Penulis mengumpulkan data

melalui angket. Penulis menganalisis data kualitatif dengan cara mengidentifikasi,

mengklasifikasi, dan menggambarkan faktor – faktor yang di alami siswa di

SMKN 1 KUDUS tahun ajaran 2015/2016.

Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penulis menyimpulkan faktor –

faktor yang di alami siswa karena mereka sendiri tidak di sebabkan oleh guru. Ada

5 faktor yang di alami siswa di SMKN 1 KUDUS tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Maka

dari itu, penulis menyarankan untuk belajar grammar dan kosakata, mendengarkan

lagu barat, menonton film barat, mengikuti kursus bahasa inggris dan latihan

berbicara. Terakhir, siswa seharusnya belajar dan berlatih berbicara bahasa inggris.
