Indian ethos and cultures are different from place to place. Sometimes, somewhere , people may prefer to sit on earth for eating food in a mass level. People usually prefer to eat food on banana leaf or other wide green leaf for the cause of purity. So we have to respect our culture too and follow the rituals and custom of eating.

Second Language is not as natural as mother tongue. Learning through activity is good technique however, I firmly believe that “ Any learning is good learning”. Basically learning depends on various stakeholders. When school is only place for Speaking in English??????????? Even most of time teacher interacts with learner in own mother tongue(excuse of using bilingual method to teach/excuse of students inability to learn in English.) Practices or drilling has its own effect in this situation and no doubt at all it ensures learning as well as confidence among learners.

“Mantras for Initiating good manner” We should always display manners which we would

like our learners to follow. We should encourage our learners to treat others as

they would like to be treated, by being kind and considerate.

We should be consistent in our approach, even though we may struggle to enforce good manners. It will be worth enough in the long term and once our learners realise we have certain expectations that have to be met, they are less likely to challenge them in the future.

We should always praise and appreciate good behaviour as this is a wonderful tool for learning and teaching.

9/28/2016 49

Page 50: English Speaking Skill

I firmly believe that learning begins with basic good manners and developing positive learning habits for the different kinds of learners and their learning styles.

Beginning of learning determines confidence and curiosity to learn new things. Lets initiate learning.
