a service for the worship of god
TRANSCRIPT
B. He is the Conqueror of Death (v. 18)
C. He is the Preeminent Lord of All (vv. 18-20)
III. Application and Discussion
• Since Jesus is supreme over the original creation and the new creation then what is
he due from all beings (visible and invisible), especially from those of us who are in
the Church (his body)?
• Since Jesus is supreme over all things then what assurances can we have in him
when theological doubts arise, finances are limited, a health crisis comes our way,
our preferred political candidate loses, loneliness is fierce, our children are
prodigals, or any number of other difficulties come our way in this life?
• How does this teaching about Jesus’ supremacy in all things (1:15-20) serve to both
anchor us firmly in the truth and exhort us to resist the temptations to follow false
teachings rather than the pure gospel of Christ?
A Service for the Worship of God Sunday, May 30, 2020
SILENT MEDITATION from Ephesians 1:18-22
...having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which
he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is
the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working
of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated
him at his right hand in the heavenly places, far above all rule and authority and power
and dominion, and above every name that is named, not only in this age but also in the
one to come. And he put all things under his feet and gave him as head over all things to
the church, which is his body, the fullness of him who fills all in all.

PRELUDE The Airforce and Navy Hymns Catie Moyer
CALL TO WORSHIP from Revelation 5:11-14 Dennis Campbell
Then I looked, and I heard around the throne and the living creatures and the elders the
voice of many angels, numbering myriads of myriads and thousands of thousands, saying
with a loud voice,
“Worthy is the Lamb who was slain, to receive power and wealth and wisdom and might
and honor and glory and blessing!”
And I heard every creature in heaven and on earth and under the earth and in the sea,
and all that is in them, saying,
“To him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be blessing and honor and glory and might
forever and ever!”
And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
We will join the heavenly congregation in worshiping Jesus Christ, the Lamb of God!

CONFESSION OF SIN
Call to confession Exodus 20:7

guiltless who takes his name in vain.”
Prayer of Confession
Assurance of Pardon Isaiah 6:1-7
CONFESSION OF FAITH from the Westminster Confession of Faith 8.3
We believe that his human nature being inseparably united to his divine nature, the Lord
Jesus was sanctified and anointed with the Holy Spirit beyond all measure. He had in him all
the treasures of wisdom and knowledge, and in him it pleased the Father that all fullness
should dwell.
We believe God’s purpose was that Jesus, being holy, harmless, undefiled, and full of grace
and truth, should be completely equipped to execute the office of mediator and guarantor.
Jesus did not take this office himself but was called to it by his Father, who gave and
commanded him to use all power and judgment.

Who You Say I Am
Who am I that the highest King would welcome me?
I was lost but He brought me in. Oh, His love for me. Oh, His love for me.
Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed. I’m a child of God, yes I am.
Free at last, He has ransomed me. His grace runs deep.
While I was a slave to sin, Jesus died for me. Yes, He died for me.
Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed. I'm a child of God, yes I am.
In my Father's house there's a place for me. I'm a child of God, yes I am.
I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am.
You are for me, not against me. I am who You say I am.
I am chosen, not forsaken. I am who You say I am.
You are for me, not against me. I am who You say I am.
Oh I am who You say I am.
Oh, I am who You say I am. Yes, I am who You say I am.
Who the Son sets free, oh is free indeed. I'm a child of God, yes I am.
In My Father's House there's a place for me. I'm a child of God, yes I am.
