Grant us the vision to ask for help. Jesus responds, "What do you want?" Grant us the peace to hear you. The beggar chooses healing, "Teacher, let me see again." Grant us the wisdom to go. *HYMN No. 275 A Mighty Fortress Is Our God EIN’ FESTE BURG *PRAYER OF CONFESSION God, you see each one of us as a precious son or daughter. You look within and see the yearning of our hearts to know a way of life that truly satisfies and fulfills. Forgive our blindness that masquerades as seeing and holds us back from your vision for us, the church, and the world. Open our eyes that we may see the face of Christ whose Holy Spirit has the power to re- form our lives and make us well. Silent Prayers of Confession *ASSURANCE OF PARDON *RESPONSE OF PRAISE No. 583 Gloria, Gloria Jacques Berthier Glory to God, glory to God, glory in the highest! Come and see, come and see, I am the way and the truth,” said he. “Follow me, follow me, come as a child, O come and see.” ANTHEM (8:30) Sometimes a Light Surprises Craig Courtney Geneva Choir Text: Sometimes a light surprises the Christian while she sings; it is the Lord who rises with healing in His wings: When comforts are declining, He grants the soul again a season of clear shining, to cheer it after rain. In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursue the theme of God’s salvation, and find it ever new; set free from present sorrow, we cheerfully can say, let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may. It can bring with it nothing but He will bear us through: who gives the lilies clothing will clothe His people too: beneath the spreading heavens no creature but is fed; and He who feeds the ravens will give His children bread. Though vine nor figtree neither their wanted fruit should bear, though all the fields should wither, no flocks nor herds be there; yet, God the same abiding, His praise shall tune my voice; for, while in Him confiding, I cannot but rejoice. (11:00) Holy, Holy, Holy Felix Mendelssohn Chancel Choir Text: Holy, holy, holy, almighty God, Lord of Hosts! Earth and heaven in glory worship Him. Let us glorify the Lord!
