A Newsletter for the Lincoln Neighborhood of Vancouver Issue LXXII April 2015 The Lincoln Elementary School Parent Staff Group will hold a rummage sale at Lincoln School, 4200 Daniels Street, on Saturday, April 25 th from 9:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Funds raised will benefit Lincoln students in many ways! Got stuff you want to get rid of? The LPSG is looking for donations of gently-used items of furniture and clothing. And, once you’ve made room for new acquisitions, come see what the Lincoln Rummage Sale has to offer! Call Nina Kerr-Bryant at 360-903-4374 or Amanda Wong at 360-909-1482 with questions or to donate. The Lincoln neighborhood cleanup is set to run from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 2. It will be held on 44th Street, on the north side of Lincoln Elementary. Waste Connections will be providing garbage trucks for bulky items, and drop boxes for yard debris and metal. Our neighborhood will receive the proceeds from the sale of the metal, so this is a great time to get rid of that rusty old swing set and benefit the neighborhood association, too. Volunteers needed! Each participant will receive a commemorative tee-shirt, handcrafted finisher medal, great food, beverages, goodies, fabulous course views and an entry into the 3 Day Summer Brewfest! Bart Yasso has been the emcee since VUM’s first year and we are excited for him to return in 2015 for our 5th Year Anniversary! Walkers and Runners are both welcome! The course will be open until 2pm giving you 7 hours to complete the race. During this time, you'll have full support from our medical team, volunteers, flaggers and police officers. Lincoln Neighborhood Meeting Notes – March 09th.!!

The!meeting!was!held!in!the!cafeteria!at!Lincoln!Elementary!School.!Chair!Jenny!Brown!opened!the!meeting!at!7:10!p.m.!!There!were!35!people!in!attendance.!Linda!Maffeo,!our!Treasurer,!again!brought!up!the!$1,678!we!have!available!for!neighborhood!projects.!Jessica!Blatt,!the!FamilyLCommunity!Resource!Coordinator!for!Lincoln!Elementary,!suggested!that!our!Association!consider!donating!money!to!the!school.!!Eric!Gunderson,!a!new!neighbor,!asked!us!to!consider!funding!for!sidewalks.!!There!are!no!sidewalks!in!his!Washington!Street!area.!!Call!or!eLmail!ideas!you!might!have!for!projects!to!Linda.!! Deanna!Hill,!our!newsletter!editor,!read!the!February!2015!minutes.!!They!were!approved.!We!found!out!that!there!are!more!than!50!trucks!a!day!leaving!the!WSDOT!maintenance!yard.!Caron!Woods,!who!heads!our!newsletter!distribution,!said!that!volunteers!were!needed!for!two!open!routes.!One!route!covers!the!Discovery!Middle!School!area,!and!takes!about!an!hour!to!do.!The!other!route!is!around!44th!to!46th!Street,!and!that!takes!about!1.5!!hours!to!do.!!Please!contact!her!if!you!are!interested!in!doing!this!important!service.!! During!this!meeting,!as!we!do!every!March,!we!voted!for!L.N.A.!officers.!!Jason!Seybold!was!voted!back!in!as!Transportation!Chair,!Linda!Maffeo!was!voted!back!in!as!Treasurer,!and!!Jenny!Brown!was!voted!back!in!as!Chair.!Roger!Lyngholm!was!voted!in!as!Vice!Chair.!!Claire!Johnston!was!duly!appointed!as!L.N.A.!secretary.!! Next%on%the%agenda%was%the%Lincoln%Neighborhood%Resolution%for%Tesoro8Savage%Oil%Terminal.%%The%Resolution%was%read%in%full%first.%%Twenty8six%e8mails%had%been%received%about%the%Resolution.%All%the%e8mails%had%been%cross8checked,%and%all%the%e8mails%were%in%favor%of%the%Resolution.%%The%Resolution%was%then%voted%on%and%was%approved%unanimously%by%all%present.%%Our%Transportation%Chair%will%send%copies%of%our%approved%Resolution%to%the%Vancouver%City%Manager,%the%City%Council%and%Clark%County%Counselors,%as%well%as%to%The%Columbian%and%to%the%Governor.%%%! There!will!be!a!neighborhood!cleanLup!in!June!right!in!front!of!Lincoln!Elementary.!!The!cleanLup!is!scheduled!for!the!May!02nd!.!!We!unload!the!items!from!people’s!trucks!for!$1.00.!!Goodwill!might!be!there!with!us!as!well.!!Lincoln’s!garage!sale!will!be!held!the!second!weekend!of!July.!! The!meeting!ended!at!8:05.!!The!attendees!then!enjoyed!a!cake!given!to!the!L.N.A.!by!the!city!of!Vancouver!in!honor!of!our!group’s!35th!anniversary.!! !
