Happy summer to each of you! I hope you have stayed well during this time. I have enjoyed seeing the many walkers and bikers throughout the neighborhood these past weeks. We are so fortunate to live is such a beautiful community with biking and walking lanes.

I want to assure you that the Board has been hard at work. We are closely monitoring the COVID notifications and restrictions for the community. We made the decision early on to close the Rec Center. We appreciate your support in this decision. Recently the tennis courts have been opened; however, the playground and basketball courts have remained closed. As you know this impacts the opening of the pool as well. We usually open the pool over the weekends in May, but we are following the City of San Antonio guidelines to keep it closed at this time. We will post notices about the pool on NextDoor and on our website at www.neighborhoodlink.com

This past month we have received reports of mail theft occurring within the community. Please stay vigilant in keeping a watchful eye out around the community. The American Postal & Business Center is located outside our community, and it is a convenient package drop off and mailing center. You might also consider signing up for the free USPS service called Informed Deliver at https://informeddelivery.usps.com. This resource can keep you up to date on mail and packages by sharing a digital scan of the mail and packages you are scheduled to receive. If you suspect mail theft, please be sure to report it to the authorities immediately.

Lastly, I also wanted to share an update on the incident with two trees being hit on Churchill Estates Boulevard. The Board responded quickly with our management team to make sure the cost of these trees was recovered from the individual doing the damage. This money has been placed in our reserve account at this time. I appreciate the residents who reported the incident immediately when it happened. This allowed us to respond promptly to the situation.

Thank you for being a part of the Churchill Estates Homes Association. I hope each of you continues to stay well!

2020 CEHA Dues Information

Dues invoices were mailed to be received in early January for CEHA. The 2020 dues amount is $310.00. If you pay in May, you will owe $310.00 plus a $20.40 fee (includes late fee and cost of certified mail sent in April). You can pay online through PayPal, but a PayPal fee will be included in your payment amount. To access our PayPal page, visit http://www.neighborhoodlink.com/Churchill_Estates_Homes and in the middle of the page, click on Make 2020 CEHA Dues Payment. Click the Pay Now button to begin. If you’re mailing a check, our mailbox address is CEHA, 13423 Blanco Rd., #288, San Antonio, TX 78216, which is the American Postal Center at the intersection of Churchill Estates Blvd. and Blanco Road. For questions about your CEHA dues, contact Rudolph F. Jass, Jr. (J.J.) at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Those of you in the gated community owe dues to CEHA and your own HOA as well (which is paid through Diamond Management), so be sure you’re sending each of your checks to the correct HOA.

Thank you for your patience in determining the pool opening date as we are monitoring the COVID updates. We will continue to provide updates on NextDoor and www.neighborhoodlink.com.

Just a reminder that the first time you do visit the pool, bring proof of CE residency and your name will be checked against a list of residents whose dues are current. You will be issued a plastic token to use as your ID each time you visit the pool.

CHURCHILL ESTATESJUNE 2020

Gates of Churchill Estates News

Hello everyone from The Gates at Churchill Estates HOA!

I’m sure by now you are tired of hearing about the COVID 19. We all are, but the reality is that’s it’s here, and we have to keep alert to what is happening with it and where the hot spots are. We all hope and pray that a vaccine will be coming soon. I know it’s brought a lot of families together and kept a lot apart, but it will come to an end sooner hopefully more than later.

It’ great to see so many people walking and enjoying our neighbors even if it’s six feet apart.

If you have been out, hopefully you have noticed the address painted on your curb. The white letters are iridescent in the event that an emergency vehicle is needed, and they can find your house at night. This was no easy job, and a little over 250 houses have these new painted addresses on their curb thanks to Camryn England. Camryn is a Senior Girl Scout, and this was her project in order to achieve the Girl Scout Gold Award, which is the highest award a Girl Scout can achieve. She had to research and write a paper on how it benefitted the community, interviewed EMS and Police before presenting this to the Girl Scout Council for their approval for her to conduct this project. Camryn worked many, many days on this project, but it’s now completed. Many thanks to Camryn! We’re lucky you chose our community.

Our Board Meetings have always been held at Woodland Church, and it has been closed due to COVID 19. The Church has advised that they hope to open in June and then we can continue our meetings. If this happens, you will see the HOA Meeting signs out in advance to the meeting.

FOOD DRIVE June 5, 6, and 7

One of the saddest things that has happened is that so many people have lost their jobs and have no work. The San Antonio Food Bank has never needed our help as badly as they do now. We are lucky that we have a table to sit at with a good meal in front of us, not so many have been that fortunate.

The Board would like to have a Food Bank Drive starting on Friday, June 5 through Sunday June 7. If you could donate any non-perishable foods that will help feed our fellow Texans in their time of need, please donate what you can – anything will help. No child should ever go to hungry. The address for drop off is 1911 Preakness Lane at the end of the Cul-de-sac.

Thank you all – keep washing those hands and remember - be kind to one another.

Reminders for Churchill Estates Dog Owners

Please keep your dogs on leashes at all times. Check your gates and fences to be sure they are secure. Your dogs should have current ID tags that they wear at all times and a microchip. If you lose your dog, immediately post signs along CE Blvd with a description of the dog and your phone number. Remember to take the signs down once your dog has been found. Also, please carry a bag with you to clean up after your dog when you’re on a walk.

Report SpeedersCall the Prue Road SAPD substation at 210-207-7169 to report speeders and ask for an officer to monitor our streets.

Airplane Noise Bothering You?Call the San Antonio Airport Noise Mitigation Office at 210/207-3471 to report low or loud aircraft flying over your Churchill Estates

residence. Provide your name, address, phone number and time of day the airplane was observed.

Dial 311 to Request City Service AssistanceCall City Customer Service at 311 to request assistance with city-related problems such as pothole repair, missing or damaged street signs, overgrown vegetation in city easements, stray animals, or abandoned cars. Customer service hours are 7 AM to 11 PM Monday through Sunday, including all holidays.

CHURCHILL ESTATES JUNE 2020

CE RULES & GUIDELINES FOR CHURCHILL ESTATES POOL OPENING

Due to the nationwide social restrictions for COVID-19, the CE pool season will be very different from previous years. We are working with our HOA, pool maintenance personnel and city officials to take the proper steps in safely opening for the summer. Please read through the details below in order to be informed about the protections that will be in place.

Occupancy limits. In his May 18th declaration, Gov. Abbott stated that «outdoor swimming pools may operate at up to 25% of the total listed occupancy of normal operating limits». Our capacity («normal operating limits») is 152 people - so 25% of normal operating limits is 38 people. We understand that occupancy limits may change over time and plan to ensure compliance with occupancy limits through the following steps:

Residents under the age of 13 are required to have a parent/guardian present to use the pool.

Signage (attached) will be placed outside the pool stating the current occupancy limit.

Usage of the pool will be “first come, first serve” basis. Please be considerate of your time spent so other residents & families may enjoy the pool. Please be considerate and limit your time at the pool to 2 hours max.

Churchill Estates lifeguards will be on duty daily during normal hours beginning June 2nd and will ensure that we are compliant with occupancy limits.

Residents will still need to receive their pool tokens for the season. When residents arrive at the pool, one of the lifeguards will ask for their name, address, number of residents in their party (if applicable) and their pool token number. This will enable the board to have a clearer picture of utilization and enables follow up with individuals who have visited the pool on a given day if there is a concern. This will also help the guards with monitoring and maintaining the capacity rate during the day. A waiver is required to be signed upon receiving your tokens. Please note that an adult 18+ is required to sign. A waiver will be signed once per family under the current rules & guidelines.

Restroom & Pool Cleanliness. We are seeking to provide access to safe, clean restroom facilities as well as pool sanitation through the following steps:

The ladies and family restrooms will remain open while we will keep the men’s restroom closed.

Lifeguards will check chemical levels every morning before opening the pool to ensure the pool is safe to use for the day.

During the day lifeguards will use the 10 minute “adult swim break” to clean the restrooms on an hourly basis.

We will also offer hand sanitizer at the lifeguard station for residents to use before entering & exiting the pool area.

Pool Furniture. We are seeking to ensure that residents have access to clean pool furniture through the following steps:

Chairs and tables will be spaced six feet away apart to maintain social distancing

During the day lifeguards will spray down the unoccupied pool furniture with a disinfecting solution every hour during the “adult swim break”.

**Churchill Estates HOA has the right to change rules at any given time.

We understand that this decision may be concerning to some and pleasing to others. We know each of you is eager to use the pool and recreation center, however we must ensure that we are putting our residents’ safety first and foremost. We believe that the guidelines that are outlined above are sufficient to allow us to safely reopen our pool for the 2020 swim season. If you have any concerns or questions, please email our Pool Manager, Cody Simmons at [email protected]
