Sometimes we think “mountain top experiences” are bad because we see little change that is lasting,
but what we’re going to learn in this study will help us see the mountain top experience in a
whole new way!

This is a great quote (with minor deletions) from C.S. Lewis, who, coming from atheism, examined most every aspect of Christianity, including that which our hearts long for.
“The sense that in this universe we are treated as strangers, the longing to be acknowledged, to meet with some response, to bridge some chasm that yawns between us and reality, is part of our inconsolable secret. And surely from this point of view the promise of glory becomes highly relevant to our deepest desire. For glory means good [rapport] with God, acceptance by God, response, acknowledgment, and welcome into the heart of things. The door on which we have been knocking all our lives will open at last. . . . then our lifelong nostalgia, our longing to be reunited with something in the universe from which we now feel cut off, to be on the inside of some door which we have always seen from the outside, is no mere neurotic fancy but the truest index of our real situation. . . . At present we are on the outside of the world, the wrong side of the door. . . . but all the leaves of the New Testament are rustling with the rumor that it will not always be so. Some day, God willing, we shall get in.” Perry

LIBRARY MINISTRYDear Church Family, Summer break from school is only half over. Many of you are making great progress on the Read to win it book club and some have already completed the requirements. There is still the whole month of July to complete the requirements if you haven’t started yet, you have plenty of time. I know that everybody is busy but my hope is that you will make the effort to spend some quality time with your family reading and watching good movies. The ending date for the club is Wednesday Aug 1, and the Read to win it Games will be on Saturday Aug. 4th at 10:00am at the church. There will be CASH PRIZES for games, and FUN FOR ALL!! Shoebox items for the month of July are girl’s clothing. (T-shirts, shorts/pants, flip flops, socks, etc). It would be nice to have a complete outfit for each box. Be sure to pick up small stuffed toys when the store marks down the holiday items and when you start picking up school supplies for the new school year remember to buy EXTRA! In case you have not heard yet, God is calling me back to Uganda; I will be leaving on Oct. 11 and returning on
Oct. 20. There is no way to explain the feeling that you have when you truly step out on FAITH to follow HIM! I know He will take care of all the needs; He has also put it on my heart to share the needs for this trip. Of course there is the financial need but that is not all. We will be doing Eye Exams, so we will need glasses (If you have old prescription glasses I have a box in the library to drop them in). Inexpensive reading glasses will also work well. We need OTC EYE DROPS (from Dollar tree or Wal-Mart). We need Eye Glass Cases, we ran out of the cases last time even though we had 400 hand made cases that we gave away. They have no safe place to put
their glasses to keep them from being scratched. If you would like a sample see me in the library. We also ran out of
non-prescription Sun Glasses. The sun in Uganda does damage to their eyes and most people in their late 30’s or early 40’s already have the beginnings of cataracts due to sun damage. The most important thing that we need is prayer; please pray for this trip even now.
In service to Christ, Marty

Surrender typically implies weakness, loss and defeat. Can you actually gain something by giving up? Jesus said
that the only way to truly live is to fully surrender your life to Him. In these four challenging sessions, students share
real-life stories about their own struggles and triumphs in surrendering to Christ. Francis Chan examines Scripture to show students that it is only through surrendering to God that they can
become who God wants them to be.
