Spotlight Campaign

Jolly Okot wrote us a letter from our offices in Gulu, Uganda. Jolly is the Country Director of our entire Ugandan operation. In her letter, she explains her dream for an American

tour of unparalleled authenticity.

Jolly’s long-term vision for Invisible Children saw an authentic tour of survivors of this war and strife. She knew it was going to take something real, something big to bring this dream of peace to the ear of America.

Thus, the Legacy Tour was born, bringing 10 young Ugandans to America for the 10 week tour all telling their personal stories and experiences.

The New England chapter features Innocent as its Legacy speaker. He has big plans for himself after recently finishing secondary school. He hopes to study poli-tics at university and potentially be a future president in Uganda. He’ll be traveling with this team of roadies:

Nate Henn a 24 year old from Raleigh, NC; Brian Pap-palardo a 22 year old from Little Rock, Arkansas; Allysen Mahaffey a 22 year old from Riverside, CA and last but not least Hannah Jones an 18 year old from Plymouth, England.

Beginning in Massachusetts March 17th and ending in New York on April 28th Innocent and his roadies will bring his story to life for New England.

Good Luck Roadies!

What’s New

Vanity Fair! Parties! T-Shirts!Oh My!

As you may have lready hear, Invisible Children and Guess have been working together to create a new way to raise money for our orginaztion in the U.S. Well get ready because we have found

it!

At the end of last month Kristen Bell and Pete Wentz hosted a party for Invisible Children in Beverly Hills. The huge party launched a new

line of Guess t-shirts that support Invisible Chil-dren. Vanity Fair magazine also co-hosted the party and as you can see in the clipping of the

article to the right they have featured the party in their magazie!

The shirts were designed by , Caroline and Olivia Marciano, daughters of Guess CEO Maurice

Marciano and are made with 100% Edun Organic Cotton grown and harvested in Uganda.

The t-shirts will be in every Guess store across

the US starting this month and all of the

profits from the sale of there shirts will go to the Invisible Children.

Thank you to Guess and the celebrities that made this all possible!

So go to the Guess store near you and pick up one of your own t-shirts!

Hurry! We have a feeling they will go fast!

Someone’s Story

Full of Grace

Grace was abducted by the Lordʼs Resistance Army when she was ten years old. At thirteen Grace was forced to be a sex slave for a rebel com-mander and suffered many hardships. When she escaped at the age of 16 she found out she was pregnant. She kept the child at such a young age and continued to find her family who she had lost contact with. Grace still had more hardship to indure. Her father was killed during the war conflicts in Uganda and her mother passed away as well. With all the strife that Grace has been through however she wishes to help the Invisible children because she still feels that tehy are worse off than she was.

20 year old Grace is living in Pece and working as a bracelet maker for our Bracelet Campaign. She was happily married in 2007 and has a healthy and beautiful two and a half-year-old baby girl who she named Hope.

Because of her child she decided not to return to school, but Grace hopes to take the knowledge that she has gained from completing ICʼs Savings and Invest-ment Curriculum Initiative training in our Bracelet program and establish her own business in something original and interesting.

Our prayers are with Grace and her lovely family!
