A CALL TO ARMS

Page 6: A Leader's Wellbeing

THE REVOLUTION “This is a call to revolution. The earth is under threat. It cannot cope with all that we demand of it. It is losing its balance and we humans are causing this to happen.

For 25 years I’ve been encouraging environmentally responsible business, a more balanced approach to healthcare. More rounded ways of educating our children and more holistic approaches to science and technology.”

Prince Charles

All of these subjects are completely interrelated and we have to look at the whole picture to understand the problems we all face.

Page 7: A Leader's Wellbeing

THE CURSE OF THE KNOWLEDGE ECONOMY

This not only concerns the way we treat the world around us,But also how we view ourselves.

All of the problems of the world are a result of us becomingdetached from the most important basic principle – HARMONY.

The Knowledge Economy has created a crisis of perception. It is not just what we are doing to ourselves and the worldthat is the problem.

The biggest problem is the way we see the world.

We are all at danger because we are disconnected.

Page 8: A Leader's Wellbeing

WE NEED TO START LOOKING AT THE WORLD AND OUR LIVES IN A VERY DIFFERENT WAY.

Page 9: A Leader's Wellbeing

INDUSTRIALISATION IGNORES NATURES RYHTHMS AND HARMONY

Page 10: A Leader's Wellbeing

WE ARE LIVING IN A WORLD OF CONVENIENCE BUT THE COSTS TO THE BALANCE OF NATURE AND TO OUR INNER WORLD ARE LARGE.

WE ARE NOW IN THE AGE OF

Disconnection

Page 11: A Leader's Wellbeing

WE IGNORE OUR NATURAL BIORYTHMS AND INTUITION.ANY WONDER WE FEEL STRESSED OUT AND LIKE WE’RE BEING

SUCKED DOWN INTO A BLACK HOLE.

Page 12: A Leader's Wellbeing

IN WHAT WAYS HAVE YOU DISCONNECTED FROM YOUR natural rhythms and

intuition?

Page 13: A Leader's Wellbeing

WHEN WE IGNORE NATURE EVERYTHING STARTS TO UNRAVEL – DESPITE WHAT WE TELL OURSELVES AND OTHERS.

Page 14: A Leader's Wellbeing

WE’VE WALKED AWAY FROM

• Common sense• Imagination • Compassion• Connection• Judgement

THE ADRENALINE ADDICTIONAdrenaline is a source of energy. Humans will go to any length to get the quickest easiest source of energy. Adrenaline addiction is a nasty habit that creates a lifestyle – to get the rush we do soul damaging things like overworking, acting greedily, insisting on winning.

STOP THE TRIGGERING BEHAVIOUR.

Page 16: A Leader's Wellbeing

THE ADRENALINE ADDICTIONADRENALINE TRIGGER SOLUTION

Over promising results Deliberately underpromise

Arriving exactly on time or late Leave 15 minute earlier for apt

Should’s and have to’s Get rid of all should.

Not asking for what you need Be specific and ask before you need it

Tolerations, the things you are putting up with

Put up with nothing, re-educate others and yourself

Involvement in non-essential projects or activities.

Cut down 25-50% of all personal and professional goals

WHAT ARE YOU TOLERATING?

WE NEED LEADERS WITH A NEW VISION

We need to rethink how we want to live and be.To reconsider what kind of world we want our children and grand children to grow up in. Do we really want them to aspire to become consumers?

No matter how fast and how clever our computers have become we seem to go on creating more chaos, more confusion, more dissonance.

What we really need is to reflect, collect and regain our balance and life sustaining harmony and interconnection.

WE NEED TO REGAIN OUR CONSCIOUSNESS AND SOUL.

Page 19: A Leader's Wellbeing

“Happiness is when what you think, what you say, and what you do are in harmony.”

Gandhi

Page 20: A Leader's Wellbeing

Sometimes our intense focus to improve one part of our life can actually be detrimental to our overall wellbeing. We spend an excessive amount of time and energy on our job for example at the expense of our relationships.

Page 21: A Leader's Wellbeing

We treat the parts of our lives as separate and independent. But they’re not. They’re interdependent. Wellbeing is more rounded – the combination of all of these is the currency of life:

UQ – Unique contributionBODY – Physical vibrancyIQ – Financial securityEQ – Quality relationshipsVISION – Passionate purpose

Page 22: A Leader's Wellbeing

Take the personal leadership assessment (Yes=1 No=0)1 – Do you like what you do each day? 2 – How much control do you have over your mind and thoughts?3 – Do you have something you’re good at?4 – Do you believe you deserve to be loved and treasured?5 – Do you believe your friends take more than they give? 6 – Do you believe you’re aging well or poorly?7 – Do you believe you have the talent for a specific creative project?8 – Do you believe your family is a burden or an asset to your happiness? 9 – Do you feel like you are contributing to your community? 10 – Do you feel like you didn’t have a choice about your spiritual path or religion?11 – Do you believe you have the intelligence to achieve your goals?12 – Do you believe you have enough adventure in your life?
