A Lost Puppy

Woof! Woof! Alice heard a loud barking sound coming her way. “What is

going on?” she wondered. Woof! Woof! I was closer than before! It was just in front

of her! It was a dog as cute as a button. It looked very scared and lonely. Alice felt

sorry for the dog.

At the drop of a hat, Alice rushed over to where the dog was. She bent down

and gently patted it. “Why are you out here alone and where’s your owner?” she

asked. Woof! Woof! The puppy barked. “Okay! I’ll help you!” Alice said. The puppy

looked like a dog with two tails. It was elated.

Soon, Alice carried the dog and wondered, “Whose dog is this but it likes me.

It lets me carry it!” After she thought for a moment, she put the dog down and saw a

tag on its collar. She took a closer look. It had the owner’s address!

As soon as Alice knew the address, she quickly went to the house and gave

the owner back her puppy. The owner grinned from ear to ear. She said, “Here’s

your reward!” Alice did not want the reward. She was just happy that she had done

a good deed!

Crunch! Crunch! Jack was munching on potato chips. “Jack! Do not eat too

much chips! They’re bad for you!” Mother said. “Stop eating those chips!” Mother

commanded. “Alright,” Jack said, putting down the packet of potato chips.

Jack then took a fork and a spoon to get ready to eat a plate of chicken rice.

“Why are you still eating chicken rice?” Mother asked. “But I am still hungry,” Jack

said, talking with his mouth full. “Do not talk with your mouth full, “ Mother said.

Blargh! Suddenly, Jack vomited. “Oh no! I have to bring you to the doctor!” Mother exclaimed. After a while, they were in the clinic. “Looks like you have

diarrhoea,” the doctor said. “This serves you right for not listening to advice,” Mother

said. “I know, Mum. I am sorry,” Jack said sadly. He had learnt his lesson to not

over-eat again.

A Careless Act

It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon. Mrs Lim told her son, Richal, “Don’t touch the jar of sweets, okay?” “Okay!” Richal replied.

Shortly after, Richal put a pile of newspapers on a chair. Then, as quietly as a

mouse, he climbed on the chair and opened the kitchen cabinet to get the jar of

sweets. He felt confident that he was going to get the jar.

Suddenly, RIchal lost this balance and fell off the chair. Aaargh! He fell face

first on the floor. Ouch! Crash! “Oh no! The jar!” RIchal shouted as it shattered.

Luckily, he was not hurt.

When Mother heard the commotion, she rushed into the kitchen. “What is all

the commotion in here? ‘ she exclaimed. “Oh no,” said Richal. Mom was red with

anger when she saw the jar. “Sorry, Mom,” said Richal. You are grounded for a

month,” said Mom. “Okay,” Richal said sadly.

Lane, it was me,” Ben replied. Ben was queueing at a fast food restaurant. He was

Creaaaak! The cabinet sounded as Mother put in a jar of assorted sweets.

“Do not touch the jar of sweet!” exclaimed Mother. But Mother forgot to close the

kitchen cabinet. Ben was as curious as a cat. He planned to take a chair and stand

on it to take the jar of sweets.

Shortly after, when Ben was sure that his mother was fast asleep, he took the

chair and stood on it to take the jar of sweets. As Ben stretched out his arms to take

the jar, he felt very excited about eating the sweets.

Bang! The chair suddenly tumbled over! Ben fell with a loud thud and the jar

broke into smithereens and one of the broken glass poked his arm and he shouted,

“Ouch!” It was very painful. “I should have listened to Mother,” Ben muttered.

When Mother heard the commotion, she rushed into the kitchen to see what

had happened. Mother saw Ben on the floor and she took the cane. Mother was

very furious. Ben stood up and apologised profusely and Mother accepted his
