A Delicious Journey

Page 2: A Delicious Journey

A delicious journey to find beautiful untouched wilderness, incredible animals, fascinating folks and the world’s best cup of java. Ahhh!

C O N C E P T“Travel Latte” is a delicious journey to a surprising place of beauty – as close as a U.S. national park or as far away as another continent. Each half hour episode whisks the audience away to a unique setting to drink in epic scenery, savor spectacular birds and beasts, and get a taste of distinctively diverse cultures. Meanwhile, in each locale, our quest to find the best caffeinated brews from around the world will be equally unrelenting.

Our expeditions are not limited just to the land, either. Our cast

and crew includes seasoned scuba divers so our “Travel Latte” adventures extend beyond the shore and beneath the waves to observe an eye-popping

assortment of incredible sea creatures and explore

fascinating underwater topographies.

“Travel Latte” has a hands-on, down-to-earth, personal feel. Our host, Bobbi Fagone, is someone you’d grab a cup of java with while you swap travel stories. She’s not a naturalist, but an inquisitive journalist with a wry sense of humor and a thirst for good stories, exciting places and amazing wildlife.

Ready? Set? Sit back and pour yourself a “Travel Latte”!

A D I F F E R E N T B R E WThough somewhat documentary in style, “Travel Latte” is an adventure show that just doesn’t take itself too seriously. Of course we going to take our viewers down the path not taken to see unpredictable animal life, visit unique, exotic locales and meet quirky, eccentric local folk. But, like a well-brewed cup of coffee, we’re going to take the time to enjoy the trip.

So what really sets “Travel Latte” apart from other travel shows is the tone. We’re on vacation! We’re going to dazzle and entertain and reveal all the beauty and wonder the world of nature has to offer. But we’re going with the flow – like real travelers. We may set out initially searching for whale sharks. But if we bump into giant manta rays along the way, we’ll seize the moment and celebrate these fabulous creatures instead.

And at the end of every day (every episode) cast, crew and our indigenous guest stars will relax together, sip a cup of the best steaming hot local caffeinated concoction we can find, and shoot the breeze.

Bottom line, the main ingredient we’re frothing into this latte is fun.

“Travel Latte” is a direct hit to one of America’s most lucrative demographics: baby boomers.

By late 40s, early 50s, most people begin to experience a shift in their thinking. “Is this all there is? Is this as far as I’ll ever go in my life?” They have feelings of restlessness, a taste for something exotic, something out-of-the-ordinary.

These are the people who, after working most of their lives, now have the time and the finances to take that “vacation of a lifetime.” But they’ve been so busy working and raising kids, they may not yet know where that place is.

“Travel Latte” is the perfect beverage to serve up to this demographic. As a baby boomer herself, Bobbi Fagone is also middle-aged. But she’s trim and fit, she loves adventure and has a healthy, active, action-packed “go for it,” “do it now while you still can” attitude. She may not be up for bungee jumping but, like her contemporaries, she’s way too young to be content to just sit on a tour bus or lounge by a swimming pool.

To boomers, “Travel Latte” is a motivational, inspirational and a vicarious thrill because these are adventures they can see themselves doing!

“Travel Latte” has several second-tier target audiences, too, including animal enthusiasts, travel buffs and coffee aficionados. But, quite frankly, “Travel Latte” will appeal to anyone who’s ever dreamed of jumping on a plane en route to adventure.

Sun-drenched beaches, rugged mountains, frozen tundra, lush tropical jungle, open bushland, windswept deserts and crystal clear tropical waters 80 feet under the sea…

These are all backdrops for “Travel Latte.” Each show will feature one or two different locations in the world. Some may be land-based; some may be underwater. The main focus for most of the shows will be a camera safari to capture images of some of the world’s most beautiful or unusual animals and landscapes.

With an ever-changing canvas behind us and new flora and fauna before us, no two shows will ever be the same.

BOBBI FAGONE is the bubbly, on-camera host of “Travel Latte.”

Bobbi who…? You’re right. Bobbi is not famous. She’s not a model or a movie star. Never had a sitcom or published a book. But she’s the gal next door. She’s an “everyman” – someone audiences can easily like and identify with.

A lifelong traveler and animal lover, Bobbi has explored about two dozen countries and is just warming up. She loves to hike, ride horses, swim, ski and scuba dive. And, wherever she goes, she somehow finds herself invariably attracted to anything with fur, feathers or scales.

A journalist by trade, Bobbi has an inherent enthusiasm and a keen curiosity about nature and the world around her. Her relaxed, conversational style puts her interview subjects at ease, making it effortless for them to really let down their hair and talk about the things they are most passionate about.

OTHER PEOPLE we’ll feature on “Travel Latte” include naturalists, biologists, park rangers, animal experts, divemasters, safari guides and local residents – anyone who can add interest or perspective to what’s in front of our lens.

Sometimes these folks will simply add commentary. Sometimes they’ll accompany Bobbi on the trail. Either way, they’ll provide color and dimension to the sites we visit.

These are ideas we are considering as episodic destinations for “Travel Latte.” We’re not married to any of them. But they are examples of the types of places that could work well because they are a) beautiful and unusual b) off the beaten track and c) many have abundant, fascinating wildlife. Of course, we’ll find out when we get there if the natives also know how to brew up a good latte, which is a must!

Bora Bora. This mystical, magical place is a small, dreamlike South Pacific island northwest of Tahiti in French Polynesia. Surrounded by sand-fringed islets and a turquoise lagoon protected by a coral reef, it’s a scuba diver’s paradise. Crabs roam the shores while sea turtles and humpback whales tour the seas. Nearly 500 different species of fish make their home in these waters. Meanwhile, overhead more than 100 different types of birds including albatrosses, terns, herons, owls, egrets, parrots, cuckoos, kingfishers and more fill the skies.

Zhangjiajie National Forest, China. These pillar-like mountains inspired the floating Hallelujah Mountains seen in the film “Avatar.”

Here, the world’s tallest elevator, the “Hundred Dragons Sky Lift,” transports visitors over a thousand feet from the forest’s floor to the rim in less than two minutes. The park also features the Zhangjije Grand Canyon Glass Bridge, the longest (984 feet) pedestrian glass bridge in the world.

Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, Iceland. This fairytale-like waterfall drops 197 feet and is part of the Seljalands River that has its origin in a volcano glacier named Eyjafjallajökull. (Say that three times fast!) What makes it even more spectacular is that visitors can walk into a small cave behind the falls and look through this curtain of water out into the valley below.

Bikini Atoll, Marshall Islands – After World War II the Bikini Atoll was used as a ship graveyard. Now, years later, these old battleships, aircraft carriers and submarines have been reclaimed by the reef and are teeming with marine life. In 2011, the government of the Marshall Islands declared that an area covering nearly 772,000

square miles of ocean would be reserved as the world’s largest shark sanctuary.

Krabi, Thailand. One of the most relaxing destinations in all of Thailand, Krabi province features the most stunning scenery imaginable including beautiful white beaches that stretch for miles, a lush tropical jungle and over 200 islands just off the coast.

Okavango Delta, Botswana. Every year, between June and August, the rains come to Botswana to create the Okavango Delta, attracting one of Africa’s greatest concentrations of wildlife. Species here include the largest collections of African bush elephants in the world (some 40,000 strong) plus hippos, wildebeests, giraffes, Nile crocodiles, lions, baboons, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, zebras, sable antelope, impala, and southern white rhinoceros. Over 400 species of birds can be found in the delta including Botswana’s national bird, the lilac-breasted roller. And the delta is also one of the few places on earth where the endangered Cape wild dog continues to thrive.

Northern Queensland, Australia. Possible sightings of an animal long considered extinct are stirring up excitement in northern Queensland. The last Tasmanian tiger, a wolf-like predator with tiger-like stripes across its back, died in the Hobart Zoo on the island of Tasmania in 1936. Now, 80 years later, thousands of “Tassie Tiger” sightings have been reported in Queensland. Tasmanian tour operator, Stuart Malcolm has even offered an A$1.75 million reward for proof that Tassie has survived. Will the intrepid “Travel Latte” team be able to solve this mystery? (We could sure use the money!) Or, at the very least, discover a great cup of java?

Uyuni Salt Flats, Bolivia. These salt flats, or as the Bolivians call them, Salar de Uyuni, are a natural wonder that are not only awe-inspiring, but seem to be the best place on earth for photographers with a sense of humor to play with perspective. This is also an annual breeding ground for three species of pink South American flamingos plus the Andean fox and host colonies of rabbit-like chinchillas called viscachas.

Papahanaumokuakea Marine Nation Monument, Hawaii, USA. Bigger than the state of Texas, this lush preserve is the largest protected wildlife

sanctuary – terrestrial or marine – on Earth. First receiving partial conservation attention by Theodore Roosevelt in 1903, the monument now encompasses 582,578 square miles of the Pacific Ocean, an area larger than all the national parks in the U.S. combined. It is home to more than 7,000 species of fish, three

million birds, the world’s largest albatross colony, plus sea turtles, spinner dolphins and the world’s most endangered duck, the Laysan duck.

Namib-Naukluft National Park, Namibia. This is one of the most beautiful and easiest to reach collection of sand dunes on earth. The epicenter of the park’s appeal is at Sossusvlei, Namibia’s most famous strip of sand where gargantuan dunes tower more than 980 feet above the underlying strata.

Solomon Islands – This is home to lush mangroves, expansive lagoons and emerald forests. But we’re here to investigate the mysteries of UFOs and giants! Near where the sunken warships of the Battle of Guadalcanal lie have been reports of glowing UFOs that rise out of the Pacific, fly into the mountains and disappear into jungle lakes. And stories abound about huge, Sasquatch-like creatures over 12 feet tall that thunder down from the steamy, rugged mountain ranges to kidnap the locals from their villages. Merely legend? Or will the “Travel Latte” team uncover a new, gigantic tribe of beings…and perhaps a “grande”-sized latte?

Torres del Paine National Park, Chile. This protected land in the Patagonia region is a mix of mountains, glaciers, forests and lakes. A visit during Chile’s summer (our winter) is extra special as the sun doesn’t set on these soaring granite pillars until after 10 p.m.

Socorro Island, Mexico. You don’t come to dive Socorro expecting colorful reef scenes. The sea floor is volcanic and the geothermal activity is on-going with lava tubes on the sea floor rising like chimneys. The dull substrate is really only decorated by a few hard corals and barnacles. So here in the waters around this tiny island which measures only 10 miles long and seven miles wide, it’s not about the scenery. It’s about BIG fish action.

In just a few days of diving, scuba divers often encounter a vast array of sharks (hammerheads, silkies, oceanic whitetips, silvertips, Galapagos sharks, tiger sharks and whale sharks), dolphins and even whales. But the real stars of this reef are the giant mantas – huge rays that grow to more than 20 feet wide across the wings and weigh up to 3,000 pounds. Gentle and curious, these amazing animals actually dance with divers and provide unforgettable close encounters.

In 2012, Alex began teaching scuba diving, which led him to work for Mike Ball Dive Expeditions in Cairns, Australia in 2013. During his time at sea, Alex apprenticed under the boat’s lead photographer. Since then, Alex has photographed many underwater adventures around the world and locally in Monterey, California.

In 2015, Alex purchased his first drone, a DJI Phantom 3 Advanced. Since then, Alex has been combining his enthusiasm for drone video and underwater photography, and producing short films.
