A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A Paid Media Marketer
Check emails that have come overnight
08:15am
Paid Media Team Huddle call to plan and prioritize the day
08:30am
A sip of hot coffee and day starts as planned
08:50am
08:55am
Acknowledge 1st important mail. This is usually about the new Adwords or Twitter campaign setup for any last-minute promotions
or Adwords performance comparison report
09:20am
Start on scheduled AdWords report to give overview of account performance (Report
1)
09:35am
Client or an Account Manager pings on Skype –
This tends to be an in-depth discussion, requiring some comparison reports.
(Report 2)
10:08am
Start on report 2
10:26am
Account Manager pings for a quick update call after their client meeting
11:20am
Back to seat and resume Report 2.
Dreaming of a break from the chats and calls.
11:50am
Head of Paid Media asks for updates on the reports.
12:30pm
Social Media team sends requests to boost
the latest post on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
12:42pm
(Meanwhile on Slack) “Hey, can you quickly
give me an update on all the FB fan generation campaigns?”
01:20pm
Finally sent Report 2! *drumroll*
and just grabbed a quick bite for lunch.
01:40pm
Start on report 3. Almost immediately, another
Account Manager pings. She is leaving for a client meeting and
needs some figures urgently.
02:35pm
Refreshing mails. Reply to a few with the quick performance
check and then get back to Report 3
03:00pm
Report 3 sent. *phew*
Takes 2nd sip of my (cold) coffee again. Work easily takes over!
03:06pm
Search for new campaign setup emails
and work on them
03:38pm
Conduct entire account review…no wait, don’t have enough time.
Let me start with the tactical campaigns first
04:15pm
Call with Google representative to optimize the accounts for optimum
results and share the industry specific trends or benchmarks
05:11pm
Damn, Report 1 is still pending…! Put my headphones,
play my favorite unplugged tracks and get back to reports.
05:55pm
Time for a wrap-up huddle! Spent more time on last-minute reports, unexpected tasks, discussions and calls.
06:15pm
Done with huddle wrap-up call but definitely not with the tasks
06:30pm
Sent Report 1, boosted posts and finally took
1st sip of cold tea
06:50pm
Reply to a few more emails and do a quick budget review
and remaining tactical campaigns review.
Thanks to AdWords labels and opportunities tab for making my work easy!
