A Dash Camera For Your Car

Recently I went to Home Depot to get some items I needed for a small home

improvement project I was working on.

I was in the store for probably 15 minutes.

When I came out to the parking lot to get into my truck, I found the side mirror from the driver's side of my truck resting on the

hood of my truck.

Someone had hit the side mirror with their vehicle and completely dislodged it from my

vehicle.

At least they were kind enough to pick it up off the ground.

In a case like this it would have been helpful to have had a dash camera installed on my

vehicle.

If you have ever watched shows like "World's Wildest Police Video's", then you

know what a dash camera is.

Law enforcement has been using it for quite some time.

But now the technology of a dash camera, or dash cam, is beginning to catch on with

everyday drivers like you and me.

Variations Of The Dash Camera

There are many variations of dash cams now available for purchase.

They can be mounted on a vehicle with a suction cup mount, by using Velcro, sticky

rubber pads and can even be built right into the design of your vehicle.

They also come in various sizes and have a variety of designs from single lens to

multiple lens designs.

Of course, as previously mentioned, they have been used by law enforcement for many years,

but their use has also become commonplace in a variety of commercial applications like buses, taxis, over the road trucks and now passenger

vehicles.

Potential uses for passenger vehicles range from being able to capture something funny or unusual, to being used as evidence in the

case of an accident.

I Wish I Had Had A Dash Camera

I was recently in an accident with an 18-wheeler.

Before I exited my vehicle I turned on my cell phone and was able to capture the

driver of the 18-wheeler admitting fault.

Later, when I talked to the insurance agent of the trucking company I was told that the driver of the 18-wheeler claimed that I was

at fault.

I supplied a copy of what I captured on my cell phone and my vehicle was repaired at no

cost to me.

If I had had a dash cam installed on my vehicle, I would have had even more

evidence that the driver of the 18-wheeler caused the accident.

The cost of a dash cam unit is fairly reasonable.

For fun and for your own personal protection, you might want to consider

getting a dash camera unit for your personal vehicle as well.
