WHAT ARE KAGAN STRUCTURES?
Content free structures created by Spencer Kagan and his team designed to promote active engagement from learners.
Can be used in any subject for any age group.
Develop a range of skills, including social, thinking, speaking and listening as well as impacting on academic achievement.
COOPERATIVE LEARNING PRINCIPLES
Positive interdependence – one cannot succeed unless everyone succeeds, the failure of one ensures the failure of all.
Individual accountability – there is always an element of public performance either in pairs, group or whole class.
Equal participation – turn taking, time, roles. Simultaneous interaction – at least 25% of
class overtly active at one time.
