Protective apparel and equipment that fits properly is absolutely vital to the safety of the wearer. Knowing how to measure and choose mitt or glove sizes can increase safety and productivity. To avoid injury and promote use/compliance, choose more than one size to accommodate different wearers. A one-size-fits-all approach is simply ineffective.

When mitts or gloves do not fit properly, it can delay work or result in hand injuries. If hand protection is too small, it may cause hand fatigue or decrease dexterity. Mitts or gloves that are too large can get caught on jagged edges or moving parts of equipment. Loose gloves or mitts can be easily pulled off the hand or even pull the wearer’s hand into moving equipment.

The length of a mitt or glove should be chosen based on the application, job task or equipment type. Typically, 15 or 18 inch lengths will meet the majority of your needs.

Our protective apparel with a poly-cotton or Nomex® fiber outer shell is ideally maintained with the use of commercial laundering equipment. While this apparel can be spot cleaned at the sink, machine washing is recommended for best results.

Cleaning Tips:Clean daily using warm soapy water for hand washing or normal setting for machine washing.If hand washing, thoroughly rinse before sanitizing with an approved foodservice sanitizing agent.Always clean both the exterior and interior of your Tucker Safety Products mitt or glove; interior liners are often forgotten and can be a significant source of cross-contamination if they are not washed and sanitized daily.Use a soft scrub brush to remove excess soil.For oven mitts with sewn in liners, turn the mitt inside out for faster drying.For oven mitts with removable liners, remove liner to wash; machine dry or hang on a Safety Station to air dry.IMPORTANT: Once dry, reinsert liner into outer shell.
