A Christmas message from

NanoLandGlobal 2011

Most companies have a goal or mission statement.

For 2012 our goal is Co-operation. Co-operation with you!

Someone said we were born to co-operate as much as to compete. As nano-businesses

everywhere struggle to grow and expand, many stakeholders are asking whether our reliance on

a competition-based business model is the key to success.

NanoLandGlobal are attempting to grow in 120 countries. That means we are working to

influence the positive development of start-ups in nanotechnology, on both the academic supply

services and product delivery side in a market still defining itself. With societal business

standards in nanoscience and culture in flux, financial markets shaky, one can be forgiven if

shutters are closed and sector specific collaboration ignored. After all survival in business is what

really matters.

We are all in this together Naturally it takes determination, luck and relentless drive to build a business. The focus is on

survival and profitability, ruthless self-centeredness regardless of product, environment, culture

or price. Our instinct screams “row that boat alone!” and we generally do.

This concept of go it alone business model in today’s economic environment and changing ethics

is I believe a little out of kilter, and especially where emerging technology is new, standards

unfolding and claims deep in hype.

Nature over millennium created the herd instinct for good reason. Family, tribal and community

networks improve individual survival rates and lowered risk. In fact it is the traditional family

network in Japanese society that made possible phenomenal individual longevity. Collective

intelligence works for bees, birds and amazingly even for microorganisms. It can work for

emerging technology business leaders too.

Collaboration is good In China, Russia, Africa, America, Europe and India, NanoLandGlobal have key partners established.

The last 12 months have been a learning curve for us all and I know personally it have been a difficult

and costly year for all our esteemed colleagues. Consolidation, trust and realignment were the norm.

What works in surface coatings and what does not is still being defined, testing and trials have taken

a phenomenal amount of time and money, and ROI’s are still in development. As in every industry,

some suppliers and partners have been poor, some average, some superb. We are lifting the lid

slowly from the supplier nano-coatings perspective. Second generation has arrived! However one

thing for sure is certain, we are all in the nano-business which is right on the pulse to become the

newest technological revolution, far exceeding the value of the ICT sector. And we are on top of our

game, with over 100 nano-labs and specialists engineers within our network and some high level

corporate entities now starting to show interest. Tomorrows leads are slowly coming in and we will

share these leads with you.

By collaboration we wish to not just help you discover niche markets and leads, but to share the very

best from the supply-chain, leverage knowledge within our network and share best practice and

experience. We hope to be able to offer more in 2012, but knowledge transfer and support must be

a two way process. We welcome your participation; we want to hear more from your side, to get

feedback from supplier training, experimentation, idea generation, stock knowledge and where we

underperform please let us know! We are all learning. We also wish to discuss pan-European and

global business consultancy opportunities as they now come in.
