Our Commitment to Health, Safety and Environment Wins Prestigious Recognition Dear Valued Partner,

As always, this August was an auspicious month for all Thai people. On this occasion we celebrated Her Majesty the Queen’s 83rd Birthday and the national Mother’s Day together on August 12. This year was particularly special as it was enhanced with the “Bike for Mum” event inspired by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, whereby hundreds of thousands of citizens donned light blue shirts in honor of Her Majesty, mounted their bicycles and went for a long ride together. It was certainly an impressive spectacle to see so many Thais, including several Vinythai management and staff, expressing their love and loyalty for Her Majesty with such a positive spirit.

Q3 2015 was also special for Vinythai as the Company won five prestigious awards for its Health, Safe-ty and Environment (HSE) performance.

The Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) presented the Company with its third “Gold Star Award” and eighth “Green Star Award”. The awards eloquently testify to our success in turning environmental governance and CSR principles into concrete business activities while strengthening locals’ understanding of our activities. They also underscore our reliability and harmony in terms of industry, community and society.

More good news followed from the Department of Industrial Works which notified us that we had won the “3Rs Award 2015” and “Zero Waste to Landfill Award 2015”, both confirming the excellence of our plant’s waste management systems and practices.

The Department of Labor Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labor, meanwhile, presented Vinythai with its “Zero Accident Award - Gold Level”, the highest-level award it bestows, for achieving over 8 million work hours without lost working day accident. This was all the more gratifying as it came on top of the Department having granted Zero Accident Award – Silver Level in each of the five preceding years. We are also proud to say that we are one of only two companies in Rayong and 38 companies nationwide to have achieved Gold Level.

We will not rest on our laurels; however, going forward Vinythai will continue to nurture and enrich its safety culture by promoting and rigorously applying Solvay Life Saving Rules that minimize all health, safety and environment risks.

We could not and cannot do this alone, of course. Thank you to all our employees and contractors for your continued collaboration and sterling efforts.

Although everything seemed to be in pleasure for me but the tragedy happening at Erawan shrine broke my heart. I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all of those affected by this terrible act. I strongly believe that all people in Thailand will never ever give up but join hands to become stronger together in the near future.

ในวนท 12 สงหาคม ทผานมา วนแมแหงชาตปน นบเปนปทพเศษยงเนองจากสมเดจพระบรมโอรสาธราชฯ สยามมกฎราชกมาร ทรงมพระราชด�ารใหจดกจกรรม “ปนเพอแม” ขน ซงไดรบความรวมมอจากประชาชนนบแสนพรอมใจกน สวมเสอสฟา รวมปนจกรยานไปดวยกน ซงเปนภาพทนาประทบใจเปนอยางมาก และพนกงานวนไทยกไมพลาดทจะรวมแสดงความรกและภกดตอองคสมเดจพระราชนฯ ในครงน

ในไตรมาสทสามของปน ถอเปนชวงเวลาพเศษส�าหรบวนไทยเชนกน เพราะบรษทฯ ไดรบรางวลเกยรตยศจากการด�าเนนงานดานอาชวอนามย ความปลอดภย และสงแวดลอม ถง 5 รางวล สองรางวลแรกไดแก รางวลธงขาวดาวทอง ซงไดรบเปนครงทสามตดตอกน และรางวลธงขาวดาวเขยวเปนครงทแปด จากการนคมอตสาหกรรมแหงประเทศไทย

รางวลนเปนเครองพสจนความส�าเรจในการน�ากฎเกณฑดานธรรมาภบาลสงแวดลอมและความรบผดชอบตอ สงคมมาสการปฏบตทเปนรปธรรมอยางแทจรง อนจะชวยสรางความเขมแขงใหแกชมชน และการใหความส�าคญ กบความเชอถอไววางใจและความผาสกระหวางอตสาหกรรม ชมชน และสงคม

จากนน บรษทฯ ไดรบขาวดจากกรมโรงงานวาวนไทยไดรบรางวลเกยรตยศอกสองรางวลคอ รางวล การใชประโยชนของเสยไดทงหมด และ รางวลการจดการของเสยภายในโรงงานตามหลก 3Rs ซงแสดง

ใหเหนถงระบบและการด�าเนนงานดานการจดการของเสยทดเยยมของวนไทย นอกจากนกรมสวสดการและคมครองแรงงาน กระทรวงแรงงาน ไดมอบโลประกาศเกยรตคณระดบทอง ภายใต

กจกรรมการรณรงคลดสถตอบตเหตจากการท�างานใหเปนศนย ประจ�าป 2558 จากการท�างานทไมเกดอบตเหตถงขนหยดงานครบ 8,000,000 ชวโมง และไดรบโลประกาศเกยรตคณระดบเงน

ตดตอกนเปนเวลา 5 ป ซงวนไทยถอเปนหนงในสามสบแปดบรษทในประเทศไทย และหนงในสองบรษทในจงหวดระยองทไดรบรางวลน

เราจะไมหยดทมงรกษาและเพมความเขมขนในเรองวฒนธรรมความปลอดภยในองคกร โดยน�า กฎความปลอดภยของโซลเวยมาใชในการปฏบตงานเพอลดความเสยงดานสขภาพ ความปลอดภย

และสงแวดลอม

ความส�าเรจในทกเรองทกลาวมานไมอาจเกดจากผใดผหนงเพยงผเดยว ผมขอขอบคณพนกงานและผรบเหมาทกคนในความรวมมอและความพยายามอนยอดเยยมตลอดมาและตลอดไป

แมวาทกสงทกอยางดเหมอนจะเปนไปไดดวยด แตเหตการณระเบดทศาลทาวมหาพรหมเอราวณท�าให ผมใจสลาย ผมขอแสดงความเสยใจอยางสดซงตอผไดรบผลกระทบจากเหตการณดงกลาว

Vinythai, in collaboration with its strong partners which are the Office of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of Map Ta Phut Municipality and OSC Siam Silica Co., Ltd, hosted a rehearsal of the community emergency response plan for Soi Prapa community with the aim of annually refreshing crisis management system and mechanisms. This year, youths in the community were invited to observe the tabletop exercise.

Dr. Verapong Chaiperm, Governor of Industrial Estate Authority of Thailand (IEAT) presented the Third ‘Gold Star Award’ to Mrs. Siriporn Wuthilaohaphan, Operation Director of Vinythai Plc., while the Eighth ‘Green Star Award’ was granted to Mr. Chamlong Whangdeeklang, Environment and Occupational Health Division Manager, as representatives of Vinythai Plc. The award presentation ceremony was held at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate Office.

The award marked the success in turning environmental governance and CSR principles into concrete business activities in order to strengthen the locals’ understanding and reliability for harmony among industry, community and society.

Vinythai won 2 prestigious awards - the 3Rs and Zero Waste to Landfill Awards 2015 of Zero Waste Project from Industrial waste management bureau, Department of Industrial Works. Dr.Pasu Loharjun, Director - General of Department of Industrial Works presided over the award presentation ceremony at Rainbow Hall of Baiyoke sky hotel.

Besides promoting renewable waste usage and to encourage the industrial sector to realize and manage industrial waste effectively by 3Rs principles - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.

Vinythai managements led by Mr.Sompot Cheeranorawanich, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications Department and Mr. Apichart Kijjaroenvisal, Deputy Plant Manager welcomed Dr. Qwanruedee Chotichanathawewong, Advisor of Thailand Environment Institute(TEI) and fifteen energy experts from Asian countries at Vinythai plant in Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate. Purpose of the visit was to learn and share about the process and management system of low carbon business, process improvement for carbon reduction, carbon reduction label certified products and laboratory building and alternative energy.

Vinythai warmly hosted a meeting for over 30 consultants and committee members of Map Ta Phut Police Station’s Inspection Committee at its plant. Organizing every two months, the meeting was aimed to update on Map Ta Phut Police Station’s performance and to form a discussion for room of efficient improvement.

Vinythai in cooperation with the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA) organized the PVC telescope promotion contest. The presentation and selection of the reports and works from over 20 finalist schools nationwide was held at Sirindhorn Science Home, Thailand Science Park.

“This contest aimed to encourage schools which participated in the PVC Telescope Engineering Camp to utilize the telescopes at their schools and later in a wider community,” said Mr. Sompot Cheeranorawanich, Vice President, Public Affairs & Communications of Vinythai.

Each selected school received scholarship for developing of astronomy activities, a plaque and a certificate. There are the winner - Mattayomnaknawa Upatham School, Bangkok, first runner-up - Phon Thong Pattana Wittaya School, Roi Et province, second runner-up - Wilai Kiat Upatham School, Phrae province, and third runner-ups - Ta Mode School, Phatthalung province and Wat Pa Pradu School, Rayong province.

Vinythai management, led by Mr. Bruno van der Wielen, Managing Director, were among business executives from leading organizations and the media to learn and share experiences in operating work for environment and society at Thailand Business Council for Sustainable Development (TBCSD)’s 2015 annual seminar, held at Centara Grand Hotel at Central Plaza Ladprao.

The event aimed to disseminate the knowledge and the implementation of TBCSD, as well as, the vision in driving economic, social and environmental sustainability in Thailand.

On the same day, Mr. Sompot Chee- ranorawanich, Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications also joined top management from Sahaviriya Steel Industries Plc., Siam City Cement Pcl. and Unilever Thai Trading Ltd. in sharing information about Sustainable Materials and Sustainable Business during the seminar organized by TBCSD and Thailand Environment Institute Foundation (TEI).

Vinythai Plc. organized the 2015 Annual Ordinary General Meeting of Shareholders (AGM) at Centara Grand at Central Plaza Latphrao Bangkok to announce its operating results and achievements. The meeting also offered a platform for shareholders’ queries about the operations and recommendations for the year 2015.

One of the activities that enlivened the event was the demonstration of handcrafted flowers and Thai fragrant bags made of gossamer fabric by Mab Kha-Mab Nai Community Enterprise. Vinythai has initiated and supported the project by enhancing the community’s handicraft knowledge and skills since 2011, leading the community to achieve a local product standard from Thai Industrial Standards Institute.

In addition to the demonstration and sale of their products, the community locals had a chance to talk to the shareholders who are stakeholders of Vinythai, hence reinforcing Vinythai’s commitment to conduct the business operation with concern to the welfare of the surrounding communities.

To celebrate Her Majesty the Queen Sirikit’s 83rd birthday this year, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn initiated the “Bike for Mom” cycling event and invited all people in Thailand to join an activity on August 16, 2015.

Held simultaneously in other provinces, where thousands of cyclists started trips at the same time from provincial halls, the event in Rayong was presided by the Rayong Provincial Governor Mr. Somsak Suwansujarit.

With such a positive spirit, Vinythai staff also wore light blue shirts and enjoyed riding bicycles together for around 30 kilometers to jointly mark Thais’ loyalty for Her Majesty, to show unity of Thai people and to promote doing sports for good health.

160 representatives from 8 communities: Mab Chalude, Banbon, Krokyaicha, Huanumtok Pattana, Klongnumhu, Sumnakkabag, Nongnumyen and Nongbuadaeng, joined Vinythai’s annual “Open House Day” to enhance the locals’ good understanding of Vinythai’s production process and safety ensured by internationally recognized technology. All visitors had an opportunity to learn and view production process in the morning while they enjoyed their afternoon with coral cultivation activity and a visit to Wat Chong Samaesan in Chon Buri Province.

Vinythai staff and media in Rayong enjoyed coral cultivation activity under Vinythai’s Coral Cultivation Project at Samaesan beach, Sattahip District, Chon Buri province. The event aimed to share information about Vinythai’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy and implementation, especially, the coral cultivation project. This would be a good opportunity to find good cooperation from the media in raising youth and general public’s awareness in marine and coastal resources protection for generations to come.

An opening ceremony was presided by Mr. Assarin Laosirilur-chakai, Deputy Director of Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate, at Map Ta Phut Industrial Estate Office’s meeting room.

ERC Joins Vinythai’s Coral Cultivation ActivityOver 50 representatives of the management and officials of the Energy Regulatory Commission of Thailand (ERC) and Vinythai Plc. participated in the coral cultivation activity to raise awareness of marine and coastal conservation at Talu Island in Prachuap Khiri Khan province.

The participants also learned about Vinythai’s various CSR projects including “Coral Cultivation (80,000 Branches) for His Majesty the King”, cultivation of 200 coral reefs with PVC pipes for nursing of marine animals, sea turtle release, as well as making of 100 asthma spacers for kids which is a project in cooperation with the Plastics Institute of Thailand and Thammasat University Hospital.

EU Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive or EU RoHS 2 (Directive 2011/65/EU) is amended and Low molecular weight (LMW) phthalates will be limited to 0.1 % w/w as from 22 July 2019. The current list is as following; [RoH2 refers to restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment (EEE)]

DEHP, BBP, DBP and DIBP are primarily used as plasticisers to soften plastics. They were restricted from 22 July 2019 for all electrical and electronic equipment apart from Category 8 (medical devices) and Category 9 (monitoring and control equipment) that will have an additional two years to comply by 22 July 2021.

The scope of RoHS includes all E&E appliances and attached cords, as well as low voltage cables

The restriction of DEHP, BBP and DBP shall not apply to toys which are already subject to the restriction of DEHP, BBP and DBP through entry 51 of Annex XVII to REACH Regulation (EC) No 1907/2006.

The restriction limits of phthalates in toys under REACH are stricter as following;

• Applicable for all children’s toys and childcare articles for children under 3: DEHP+DBP+BBP≤0.1%;

• Applicable for all children’s toys and child care articles that can be placed in children’s mouth: DINP+DIDP+ DNOP≤ 0.1%

PVC Update

Since the second quarter of 2013, Vinythai and Advanced Biochemical (Thailand) apply the framework of sustainable development way based on Solvay approach; this is not its first step in launching to the green commitment.

The Company, in fact, started the green commitment in 1999 proven by ISO 14001 certification, later Vinythai was recognized by the department of Industrial Work, Ministry of Industry for the CSR-DIW award.

In 2011, the senior management selected in adopt of the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility, in use.

Consequently, in 2013, Ministry of Industry granted the Industrial Award (level4) - Green Culture to Vinythai.

Vinythai and Advanced Biochemical (Thailand) did not cease to go further in green commitment, the management continues to apply the green framework of the mother company, naming Solvay Way or Sustainable development way based on Solvay approach. This framework describes and extend to 6 stakeholders, those are;

1. customers 2. employees 3. planet4. investors 5. suppliers 6. communities.

By end of each year, the companies conduct the self- assessment, the self-assessment progress status and results are linked with the company’s compensation. According to the two year assessment, the Company got the significant improvement from year to year.

The result of experiment shows static thermal stability of PVC samples stabilized with DAU and eugenol compared with lead and calcium/zine heat stabilizers for pipe applications. The experiment was performed at 180°C up to 120 min. From the results, it was observed that the PVC stabilized with DAU effectively retained its initial white color within 60 min of the heat treatment indicating the highest short-term thermal stability compared to PVC stabilized with commercial lead or Ca/Zn. In case of PVC stabilized with eugenol can retain initial color within 20 min.

In practice, PVC without any heat stabilizer cannot be processed due to its susceptibility to thermal degradation. This experiment reveals possibility to replace metal based heat stabilizers by organic based stabilizers especially for use in safer and more environmentally friendly products.

ตงแตไตรมาสทสองของป 2556 วนไทยและแอดวานซ ไบโอเคมคอล (ประเทศไทย) ไดน�ากรอบการด�าเนนงานดานการพฒนาอยางยงยนภายใตแนวปฏบตของโซลเวยมาใช แตนมใชกาวแรกของพนธกจ ดานการจดการธรกจอยางยงยน

ในความเปนจรงแลว วนไทยไดเรมพนธกจการจดการธรกจอยางยงยน ในดานสงแวดลอมเปนเบองตนตงแตป 2542 ตอมาบรษทไดรบรางวล การพฒนาดานความรบผดชอบตอสงคม CSR-DIW จากกรมโรงงาน อตสาหกรรม กระทรวงอตสาหกรรม ในป 2554 คณะผบรหารของ บรษทไดน�ามาตรฐาน ISO 26000 ซงเกยวกบความรบผดชอบตอ สงคมมาใชซงท�าให ในป 2556 บรษทไดรบรางวลอตสาหกรรม สเขยวระดบ 4 (วฒนธรรมสเขยว) จากกระทรวงอตสาหกรรม

ผลการด�าเนนงานดงกลาวมการพฒนาเปนอยางมาก

ในการทดลองใหความรอนแกชนงานพวซทเตมสารยราซล และยจนอลเปรยบเทยบกบพวซทเตมสารเพมเสถยรภาพทางความรอน

ชนดสารประกอบตะกว และสารประกอบแคลเซยม/ซงคทใชในงานทอในปจจบน ทดสอบทอณหภม 180 องศาเซลเซยส เปนเวลา

นาน 120 นาท พบวาพวซทเตมสารยราซลสามารถทนตอการเปลยนสในชนงานไดคอนขางโดดเดน โดยเฉพาะในระยะเวลา 60 นาท

แรกของการทดสอบ โดยพบการเปลยนสนอยทสดแมเปรยบเทยบกบพวซทเตมสารประกอบตะกว และสารประกอบแคลเซยม/ซงค

ในกรณของสารสกดจากกานพลหรอยจนอล พบวาสามารถใชหนวงการเปลยนแปลงส ในพวซไดประมาณ 20 นาท ซงโดยปกตพวซ

ทไมเตมสารเตมแตงใด ๆ จะไมสามารถขนรปไดเนองจากเกดการสลายตว

การทดลองนแสดงใหเหนแนวโนมความเปนไปไดในการใชงานสารเพมเสถยรภาพทางความรอนประเภทสารอนทรย เพอทดแทน

สารเพมเสถยรภาพทางความรอนกลมโลหะชนดตาง ๆ ทใชงานในปจจบน โดยเฉพาะในผลตภณฑทเนนความปลอดภยตอผบรโภค

Vinythai Prioritizes Safe Transport of Dangerous Goods (End)

Please be continually shared about duties of the Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor which were lectured during the training on Safe Transport of Goods and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor programs for Vinythai management and employees by Pongnarin Petchu of Chem-Safe-Consultants Co., Ltd. The rest of Safe Transport of Goods and Dangerous Goods Safety Advisor’s duties are;

• To implement proper emergency procedures in the event of any accident or incident that may affect safety during the transport of dangerous goods

• To investigate and, where appropriate, to prepare reports on serious accidents, incidents or serious infringements recorded during the transport of dangerous goods

• To implement appropriate measures to avoid the recurrence of accidents, incidents or serious infringements

• To take care of the legal prescriptions and special requirements associated with the transport of dangerous goods in the choice and use of subcontractors or third parties

• To verify employees involved in the transport of dangerous goods have detailed operational procedures and instructions.

• To introduce measures to increase awareness of the risks inherent in the transport of dangerous goods

• To implement verification procedures to ensure the presence, on board the means of transport, of the documents and safety equipment which must accompany transport and the compliance of such documents and equipment with health and safety regulations

• To implement verification procedures to ensure compliance with legislation governing loading and unloading of dangerous goods

• To exist the security plan

As a joint-venture between Solvay and PTTGC, Vinythai jointly showcased advanced automotive solutions on Solvay Auto Tech Day at Toyota Motor Asia Pacific Engineering & Manufacturing which have had substantial success in the automotive market supplying both domestic and export markets.

The prime objective of tech days is to increase awareness of Solvay products and technologies including bio-based epichlorohydrin (ECH) and Epicerol® technology.
