Tweed Heads Lawn and General CemeteryKirkwood Road, Tweed Heads

Tweed Heads Cemetery is centrally located off Kirkwood Road in Tweed Heads. The 5.5 hectares of hills and valleys, with their many trees, create a series of intimate spaces for privacy and reflection.

Murwillumbah Lawn and General CemeteryTree Street, Murwillumbah

Murwillumbah Lawn Cemetery is set in a picturesque, tree-bounded hill site providing a secluded and restful sanctuary.

Tweed Valley CemeteryEviron Road, Eviron

Tweed Valley Cemetery is nestled in a peaceful valley setting, centrally located between Tweed Heads, Murwillumbah and the coast. It is the Tweed’s main cemetery and includes a crematorium, a non-denominational chapel and beautifully landscaped grounds which range from formal gardens to lush rainforest settings.

Tweed Heads Cemetery offers an expanded list of options for memorial and lawn burial sites in a bush setting.

Affordable ash memorial sites are being developed to service community demand in the Tweed Heads area.

New lawn monument sites are available.

A restored historic chapel, relocated from St Joseph’s Primary School in Tweed Heads and dating back to 1917, provides an ideal non-denominational venue for services and functions.

Memorial gardens and walks offer a wide variety of permanent locations for ash memorials.

Lawn burials sites extend up the cemetery’s green hills, bounded by flowering shrubs.

The Family Tree Memorial and Individual Tree Memorial sites are extremely popular.

The Murwillumbah cemetery has two options for permanent ash locations and more alternatives are being developed.

A flower garden and granite wall memorials for ashes are located in the lawn cemetery. The general cemetery also has limited ash sites available in two memorial walls.

A limited number of new lawn burial sites have been created.

Tweed Shire Council offers a full list of high-quality and cost-effective services, whether you are planning ahead for your own funeral or farewelling a loved one.

Options include:

Cremation: A modern crematorium is located at Tweed Valley Cemetery. All cremations are arranged through a funeral director, who can assist with your interment options.

Burial: A variety of picturesque burial sites are available at the Tweed Valley, Murwillumbah Lawn and Tweed Heads Lawn cemeteries. Future plans include eco-burials.

Permanent and picturesque locations for ashes:

• tranquil memorial lawns and gardens• memorial walks (rainforest, creek, cordyline)• tree memorials (for individuals and families)• memorial walls and ‘books’

Plaques and urns: are available through our accredited suppliers.

Chapel and wake services: a historic, non-denominational chapel at Tweed Valley Cemetery is perfect for funeral services, wakes and other gatherings of family and friends. It offers seating for up to 90 people, audio-visual equipment, kitchen and catering facilities.

Family history searches: help you find out more about your family members interred at our cemeteries.

Tweed Shire Council cemeteriesCouncil manages 11 cemeteries, ranging from the large regional facility, Tweed Valley Cemetery at Eviron, to small village cemeteries. See map below for locations.

Council actively operates the Tweed Valley Cemetery, Tweed Heads Lawn and General Cemetery and Murwillumbah Lawn and General Cemetery. The other eight sites are fully occupied and maintained by Council.

Access to cemeteriesTweed Valley Cemetery

Access to the Tweed Valley Cemetery parking area is available from 6am to 7pm from the eastern entrance. The western entrance closes at 4pm Monday to Friday and remains closed on weekends and public holidays. Pedestrian access to the cemetery is available at all times.

Access to the other cemeteries is available at all times.
