AcknowledgmentsGod continues to reveal deeper truths taken from the understanding of patterns, types, and shadows. I must acknowledge that not everything in this book was given to me directly from the Lord. I have learned many things from other apostles and other men of God, from Paul the Apostle to more recent and contemporary anointed ministers of Jesus Christ. Still, there are other revelations that God has given to me directly. With all such revelation they must be compared with the Word of God to determine the truth of them. As the Scripture says in Hebrews 5:14: “But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.”

Figures of the True"For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands which are the figures of the true, but into heaven itself." (Hebrews 9:24) The Holy places made with hands are figures of the true. The true is in heaven itself. The tabernacle which Moses built according to an exact pattern given to him by God in the mount is a figure of the true tabernacle in the heavens.

What I am saying may sound redundant but it is absolutely necessary for us to understand this point in order to really understand what God is showing us. "Now of the things which we have spoken this is the sum: we have such an high priest who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord pitched and not man." Hebrews 8:1-2.

The natural tabernacle is a picture of the true tabernacle that the Lord pitched. "Who serve unto the example and shadow of heavenly as Moses was admonished of God when he was about to make the tabernacle; for see, said he, that thou make all things according to the pattern shewed to thee in the mount." (Hebrews 8:5)

To begin to understand all of what God is showing us we must first understand the pattern. The tabernacle had an outer court.

Inside the outer court, which was essentially a large fence, was placed a tent like structure that was divided into two parts -- the Holy Place and the Holy of Holies.

(Downward views without the covering over the Holy Place and Holy of Holies).

There are three sections of the Tabernacle:

1. The Holy of Holies2. The Holy Place3. The Outer Court

2

Page 4: deeperword.comdeeperword.com › ... › shadows_of_heavenly_things.docx  · Web viewThe number of fish they caught was one hundred and fifty three. The Outer Court was 100 by 50

These three sections show us other groups of three:

1. Father; 2. Son; 3. Holy Spirit1. Spirit; 2. Soul; 3. Body1. Tree bearing fruit with seed within itself; 2. Herbs; 3. Grass

In our progression with God we begin by entering the Outer Court, just as the High Priest had to go into the Outer Court before entering the Holy Place; and then on the Day of Atonement he could enter the Holy of Holies.

The Outer Court is representative of the third heaven. Paul was caught up to the third heaven (see 2 Corinthians 12). Jesus told Peter he would make him and the other disciples fishers of men. This was after they brought in a catch of fish when they were obedient to Jesus to cast their net on the right side [I think Jesus did not specify the right side in Luke 5:4-10, instead he specified the right side after he had risen from the dead in John 21:6]. The number of fish they caught was one hundred and fifty three. The Outer Court was 100 by 50 cubits, and it represents the third level of heaven.

When Jesus fed the five thousand, he had them sit down in companies of 50 and 100 (Luke 9:14-17). They sat in grass (Matthew 14:19). So we can see that the five thousand in one sense represent those in the Outer Court. Then Jesus had the twelve disciples who were close to him. They represent those that come at least to the Holy Place level. Of the twelve there were three -Peter, James, and John- who went up on the Mount of Transfiguration. These represent those that qualify to enter the Holy of Holies (Matthew 17:1-2).

On the Day of Atonement the High Priest would take two kids of the goats for a sin offering and a ram (an adult male sheep that represents the maturity of Christ) for a burnt offering (Leviticus 16:1-30). In John 1:29, John the Baptist states of Jesus ''Behold the lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world." The Iamb (which is a baby sheep) represents the innocence of Jesus Christ. The sacrificed ram used on the Day of Atonement was a type of Jesus Christ who came to be a sacrifice for us. In Leviticus16:7-10 we see the symbolism of Jesus taking our sins on him and him taking our sins far away from us. The one goat that is slain represents his sacrifice for us. The other goat (called the scapegoat) which is taken into the wilderness represents our sins being taken far away from us.

After the lamb was slain at the altar the next piece of "furniture" that the priest would come to was the brazen laver. Here he would wash. And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat." (Exodus 30:17-19).

The laver was made from the melted down bronze mirrors of the women. "And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the looking glasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation." (Exodus 38:8). Why the women's mirrors? I believe the woman is a type of the soul and the man is a type of the spirit. Just as the woman is to submit to the man, the soul must be submitted to the spirit. Why mirrors? Because mirrors reflect our self. It is representative of self and selfish desires. These must be forsaken, . broken down, go through the fire so our only desire is to follow Jesus. Jesus said ''he that forsaketh not all that he hath cannot be my disciple" (Luke 14:33). In Matthew 28:19 he says ''Go ye therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost." (R.S.V.) Becoming a real disciple should be associated with forsaking all and baptizing in water.

LampstandAs we enter the Holy Place, on the left we see the Candlestick or Lampstand. There are many things that are represented in the candlestick, and we may come back and discuss several of them later; but initially, I want to point out the four elements at the top of each stem and its meaning. The flame or light represents Jesus. In John chapter 8:12 he said ''I am the light of the world." The oil represents the Holy Spirit. In I Samuel16:13 it says that when Samuel poured the hom of oil on David, the Spirit of the Lord came upon him from that day forth. The golden bowl, then, represents the Father. Gold represents the Glory of God.

The perishable element is the wick. The wick is a piece of cloth that has been dipped, dunked, or immersed in oil. If immersion is baptism (which it is), and oil represents the Holy Spirit (which it does), then the wick being immersed in oil is a type of our being baptized in the Holy Spirit. This 'baptism of the Holy Spirit' is our third step as we grow in the things of God.

We should also note that this is confirmed by the passage in Acts 2:1-4 when the 120 in the upper room received the Holy Spirit. There were tongues like as of fire that sat upon each of them. The candlestick shows us the picture of a tongue of fire upon each wick.

The Table of Shewbread

In John chapter 1:1 it says "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." Verse 14 says "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us." This shows that the Word is Jesus Christ.

John 6:35, 48, 51: "And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst." "I am that bread of life." "I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world." Therefore, Jesus is the Word and Jesus says he is the bread of life. The shewbread, then, shows that one must feed upon the Word, just as the High Priest had to partake of the shewbread.

Some would make a distinction in the Greek words for word (logos and rhema). Some say the logos is the written word whereas the rhema is the spoken word. I believe that the truth goes much further than this simple distinction. Jesus is the logos and from Him proceeds rhema. Thus the logos and rhema are intertwined in such a way that one cannot always make a clear distinction.

In John 6 Jesus says "The words (rhema) I speak unto you are spirit and they are life." This rhema proceeds forth from the logos. We must feed upon God's word. The written word and the God breathed word to us. Many times Jesus Christ will bring forth His rhema (God-breathed word for us) from the logos (written word) as He makes it real and alive to us. In this He is making Himself more real and more alive. He is the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). As we feed on Christ-- that is, on His word- then faith grows. Faith cometh by hearing and hearing by the Rhema of God. (Romans 10:17)

The Incense Altar

On the Day of Atonement the High Priest would place blood on the tips of each horn and the comers of the incense altar and he would put specially made incense on the incense altar and fire from the brazen altar was placed there as well.

The fire represents the fiery trials that we go through. I Peter 4:12 says "Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you." I Peter 1:7 says "That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ." The smoke and the odor of the incense that came forth after the fire is applied represents the prayers of the saints.

"And when he had taken the book, the four beasts and four and twenty elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them harps, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints." (Revelation 5:8). "And another angel came and stood at the altar, having a golden censer; and there was given unto him much incense, that he should offer it with the prayers of all saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne." (Revelation 8:3).

The Ark of the Covenant

The Ark of the Covenant was a box made of hard wood (shittim wood) and covered with gold inside and outside. The Ark was 1 1/2 cubits by 1 1/2 cubits by 2 1/2 cubits. Inside the Ark was placed the stone tablets with the Law written on them, Aaron's rod that had budded and brought forth fruit overnight and a pot of manna.

In 2 Samuel 6:1-2 we see that the Ark is named for the Lord of Hosts of the whole earth. Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand. And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.

Therefore, the Ark represents Jesus Christ. It also represents a position or place we can attain to in Christ. Uzzah died when he reached forth to steady the Ark. See II Samuel 6:6-7: "And when they came to Nachon's threshingtloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the Lord wax kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God."

In 1 Chronicles 16:22 the Scriptures say ''touch not mine anointed" in reference to the ark and then adds "and do my prophets no harm." So in some fashion the position of prophet is closely associated with the anointed one (Jesus Christ). Why? It is because the prophets are anointed by God also, even though Jesus is alone referred to as the anointed, the messiah.

The Mercy Seat

The Mercy Seat rested on the lid for the Ark of the Covenant. It is the place where the high priest sprinkled the blood of the lamb seven times to receive atonement for the sins of the children of Israel. In Hebrews the Mercy Seat is referred to as the Throne of Grace. The Glory of God would appear above the Mercy Seat. So the Mercy Seat also speaks of final step with Christ which is receiving a glorified body.

As we look at the things we can comprehend as we study the tabernacle, we can see the following.

1. The pieces of "furniture" are placed in the order or shape of a cross. We must take up our cross and follow Jesus.

7

Page 9: deeperword.comdeeperword.com › ... › shadows_of_heavenly_things.docx  · Web viewThe number of fish they caught was one hundred and fifty three. The Outer Court was 100 by 50

2. The second thing we can see is that Jesus is represented at each piece of furniture on the Day of Atonement.

3. The third thing we can learn is that Jesus spiritually went through this tabernacle as our High Priest.

4. We must take up our cross and follow Jesus in as much as he is a forerunner for us. Hebrews 6:20: “Whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus, made an high priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec.”

8

We must:

1. Repent and accept the Word of God (Jesus Christ) as Lord and Savior.2. Be immersed in water (baptised).3. Receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit4. Feed on the word of God

A. Hear it B. Read itC. Study itD. Meditate on itE. Memorize itF. Live it outG. Teach it to others

5. Go through the trials that result as a consequence of our being led by the Spirit and continually offer up thanksgiving and praise and prayer to God.6. Be willing to die for Jesus in every way including physically.7. We can then expect to qualify for the first resurrection, the Bride of Christ -- and be resurrected in Glory and Power and rule and reign with Christ for 1,000 years.

As we begin to look deeper into the possible meanings behind the various pieces in the tabernacle we see other truths as well. There is a different kind of death associated with each piece in order to come into new area a life in God.

At the brazen altar we see the first death that must be accomplished is a death to sin. Our first step is to repent. In this we choose to turn our back on sin or die to sin that we might have eternal life.

At the brazen laver we see the second death is a death to selfish desires. This is understood by the fact that the women's brass mirrors were melted down to make the brazen laver. Why the women's mirrors? Because the woman is a type of the soul. David said in Psalm 34 ''My soul shall make her boast in the Lord." the soulish selfish (when we look in the mirror we see ourselves) desires must die to desire what the Lord desires. Though many people are baptised, how few understand that our desire should now be to please the Master and not ourselves.

The third death comes at the lampstand. This is a death to natural intellect. When we receive the baptism of the Holy Spirit and the normal evidence of speaking in tongues to God (prayer language) we must give up and die to our natural intellect's desire to understand or explain everything. We have seen people who have intellectual pride have a hard time coming into this experience for it is hard for them to give up control to let the Holy Spirit bypass their intellect and understanding. However, the Scripture in I Corinthians 14:15 clearly says "I will pray with the spirit, and I will pray with the understanding also: I will sing with the spirit, and I will sing with the understanding also." The prayer with the spirit (in tongues) is contrasted with praying with the understanding. That means, of course, that when you pray in tongues you don't understand it and must die to the natural intellect sufficiently to come forth in tongues.

The fourth death is depicted at the table of shewbread. The fourth death is a death to our natural emotions to be replaced with God's Spirit. We die to fear in order to move in faith. Bread one place speaks of faith. If we look at the woman in Matthew 15. Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon. And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, 0

Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil. But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us. but be answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel. Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and cast it to dogs. And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their master's table. Then Jesus answered and said unto her, 0 woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

She asked for deliverance for her daughter. Jesus said that was the children's bread. She received the deliverance because of her faith. So bread is connected to faith. We see in many places in the gospels where they were fearful, and it was because the lacked faith. We must "die" to the emotion of fear and move in faith. Mark4:40: "And he [Jesus] said unto them, why are ye so fearful? How is it ye have no faith?"

The fifth death is death to our will. The fifth piece is the incense altar. At the incense altar the smoke and incense represents the prayers of the saints. See Revelation 5:8 and 8:3. When Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane, there was sweat like blood that came forth. There was blood placed on the tip of the four horns at the comers of the incense altar. Jesus prayed, "Father, if it is possible let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, NOT my will but thy will be done." We must die to our own will to do His will.

As we go deeper into the possible meanings of the various parts of the tabernacle, we must again quote that "strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age." Hebrews 5:14. Not everyone will see or agree with the things I see. This is alright. No one of us will understand all things perfectly. Some will be shown certain truths while others will be shown different ones.

In Exodus 25:3 it says "And this is the offering which ye shall take of them; gold, silver, and brass. . .." Here we have three metals placed in order from the one of highest value to the least. Pure gold was the metal of which the mercy seat was made. The Glory of God appeared above the mercy seat. Jesus was sold for thirty pieces of silver. Father- represented by pure gold. Son - represented by silver. Holy Spirit - represented by brass.

Exodus 25:4 continues: "And blue, and purple, and scarlet, and fine linen, and goat's hair, And ram's skins dyed red, and badger's skins, and shittim wood..."

Blue - heaven[Iy] Purple - royalty Scarlet, or red - life Linen – righteousness. Goat's hair- The Father Ram's skin dyed red- The Son who shed his blood for us. Badger's skins - The Holy Spirit. Shittim wood - man.

We can possibly read this to say "Heavenly royalty comes through life and righteousness as the Father, Son and his blood, and the Holy Spirit cover and work in man."

Part 2Let’s go through the tabernacle once again and see what else is revealed in it. The Brazen Altar had four horns, one at each corner. Among other things that the four horns may foreshadow, are the four parts of man’s soul.

1. Mind2. Emotions3. Desires4. Will

True repentance requires a change in all four areas. Some people have a mental assent that Jesus is the Son of God, he died on the cross, and rose from the dead. This alone produces no real change. If true repentance has occurred, one will have all four aspects of one’s soul affected.

1. Mentally -- one is convinced that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and that God has raised him from the dead.2. Emotionally -- He feels sorrow for his sins and his past rebellion.3. Desires -- He now desires to follow God.4. Will -- His will is set to seek God’s will.

The LaverExodus 30:17-21: “17 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, 18 Thou shalt also make a laver of brass, and his foot also of brass, to wash withal: and thou shalt put it between the tabernacle of the congregation and the altar, and thou shalt put water therein. 19 For Aaron and his sons shall wash their hands and their feet thereat: 20 When they go into the tabernacle of the congregation, they shall wash with water, that they die not; or when they come near to the altar to minister, to burn offering made by fire unto the LORD: 21 So they shall wash their hands and their feet, that they die not: and it shall be a statute for ever to them, even to him and to his seed throughout their generations.”

The Laver, which was made of brass, (the metal used for items in the Outer Court) had three parts: 1. The foot. 2. The Laver itself 3. The water. The number three reminds us of the relationship of Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

The Laver was made of the brass mirrors of the women; by melting them down in fire to make the Laver. Why were the women’s mirrors used? The woman represents the soul. David said in Psalm 34:2: “My soul shall make her boast in the LORD, the humble shall hear thereof and be glad.”

The priests would wash at the Laver before going into the holy place. Our souls must be cleansed before we go into the Holy Place. Water baptism is an outward symbol of what is taking place spiritually, that is a cleansing, a removal, and a circumcision which is the sign of a covenant.

During Noah’s time, the earth was covered with a flood of water for a cleansing of the land; as the wicked were removed from the Earth. Afterwards, God put the rainbow in the sky as a sign of the covenant (that He would not destroy the earth again with water).

When the children of Israel were baptized in the Sea (see 1 Corinthians 10:2), the body of sin (or soldiers of Pharaoh who held them in bondage) were removed. They drowned in the sea. Peter said in Acts 2:38: “Repent and be baptised every one of you for the remission (Greek word analusis meaning departure -- see Strong’s 359) of your sins.”

11

Page 13: deeperword.comdeeperword.com › ... › shadows_of_heavenly_things.docx  · Web viewThe number of fish they caught was one hundred and fifty three. The Outer Court was 100 by 50

In Ephesians 2:2 it says: “wherein in times past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.” Unclean spirits (working in conjunction with Satan) cling to sinners before they come to Christ. It is during water baptism (when Christ makes a circumcision without hands) that the unclean spirits are removed. See Colossians 2:10-12: “10 And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power: 11 In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ: 12 Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.

The Candlestick (Lampstand)Exodus 25:31-40: “31 And thou shalt make a candlestick of pure gold: of beaten work shall the candlestick be made: his shaft, and his branches, his bowls, his knops, and his flowers, shall be of the same. 32 And six branches shall come out of the sides of it; three branches of the candlestick out of the one side, and three branches of the candlestick out of the other side: 33 Three bowls made like unto almonds, with a knop and a flower in one branch; and three bowls made like almonds in the other branch, with a knop and a flower: so in the six branches that come out of the candlestick. 34 And in the candlesticks shall be four bowls made like unto almonds, with their knops and their flowers. 35 And there shall be a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, and a knop under two branches of the same, according to the six branches that proceed out of the candlestick. 36 Their knops and their branches shall be of the same: all it shall be one beaten work of pure gold. 37 And thou shalt make the seven lamps thereof: and they shall light the lamps thereof, that they may give light over against it. 38 And the tongs thereof, and the snuffdishes thereof, shall be of pure gold. 39 Of a talent of pure gold shall he make it, with all these vessels. 40 And look that thou make them after their pattern, which was shewed thee in the mount.

Why a knop, a flower, and bowl like an almond? It represents three stages of growth: a budding stage, a flowering stage, and a full fruit stage. Each of the six branches that come to full maturity must have these three stages. It is much like saying we must go from the Outer Court to the Holy Place; and then enter the Holy of Holies.

Notice also though that the shaft (the center candlestick) has four bowls made like unto almonds with their knops and flowers (see verses 34 and 35). This speaks of each area of the soul coming to full fruit that is in Jesus Christ. Jesus said “I am the vine, ye are the branches.” Man must put aside the carnal mind to put on the mind of Christ. Man must conquer fear to walk in faith. Man must put a side his own will to do God’s will. Man must desire His desires. David said “One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after. That I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life . . .”

The SoulI, along with other Bible teachers, believe that a picture of the soul is given in Ezekiel 1:4-14: “4 And I looked, and, behold, a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire. 5 Also out of the midst thereof came the likeness of four living creatures. And this was their appearance; they had the likeness of a man. 6 And every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. 7 And their feet were straight feet; and the sole of their feet was like the sole of a calf's foot: and they sparkled like the colour of burnished brass. 8 And they had the hands of a man under their wings on their four sides; and they four had their faces and their wings. 9 Their wings were joined one to another; they turned not when they went; they went every one straight forward. 10 As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, on the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle. 11 Thus were their faces:

12

Page 14: deeperword.comdeeperword.com › ... › shadows_of_heavenly_things.docx  · Web viewThe number of fish they caught was one hundred and fifty three. The Outer Court was 100 by 50

and their wings were stretched upward; two wings of every one were joined one to another, and two covered their bodies. 12 And they went every one straight forward: whither the spirit was to go, they went; and they turned not when they went. 13 As for the likeness of the living creatures, their appearance was like burning coals of fire, and like the appearance of lamps: it went up and down among the living creatures; and the fire was bright, and out of the fire went forth lightning. 14 And the living creatures ran and returned as the appearance of a flash of lightning.”

In verse four, we see four living creatures and they had the likeness of a man. Could this mean the four aspects of man’s soul? Every one had four faces, and every one had four wings. When we think of wings we think of birds. In Psalm 11:1 our soul is compared to a bird: “In the LORD put I my trust: how say ye to my soul, Flee as a bird to your mountain?”

Verse 10 says, “As for the likeness of their faces, they four had the face of a man, and the face of a lion, one the right side: and they four had the face of an ox on the left side; they four also had the face of an eagle.” Of course this first and foremost speaks of Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the Word made flesh (man) -- John 1:14.Jesus is “ox” that is sacrificed as part of the peace offering -- see Numbers 7:17, 23, 29, 35, 41.Jesus is the Prince of Peace -- Isaiah 9:6.Jesus is The Great Eagle -- Revelation 12:14.

Picture of a Four Headed BeingRevelation 5:5 says the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the root of David, hath prevailed to open the book and loose the seals. How did Jesus prevail? He overcame Satan and conquered death. The Scripture in Hebrews says he entered into the Holiest of all and was a forerunner for us. The passage in Ezekiel mentions that the lion was on the right side. If we then superimpose the picture of Ezekiel over the tabernacle we have the Lion entering the Holiest of all, the Ox in Ezekiel is on the left; that would put it in the Outer Court, which is appropriate since that is where sacrifices of oxen were made. This then puts the Eagle over the shewbread and the man’s face over the lampstand.

Jesus is the Lion and John 5:21 says “The Son quickeneth whom he will.”

Lion = will

Man = intellect (because compared to the other beasts depicted he has the greatest intellect).

Eagle = Emotions. Why? Because the Scripture in Isaiah 40: says “But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles . . .” Ephesians 6:10 says, “. . . be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might.” Romans 4 says about Abraham “Being not weak in faith” (verse19) “but was strong in faith” (verse 20). If you are fearful (an emotion) you are lacking in faith. Faith conquers fear. See Matthew 14:25-31 and Mark 6:47-50.

Ox = Desires -- Psalm 69:30-31 says “I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. If the Lord is better pleased with our praise than with an ox, then he desires our praise more than the sacrifice of an ox.

In addition, the ox in our overlay is placed in the Outer Court. The second peice of furniture in the Outer Court was made of the women’s brass mirrors. Mirrors reflect self -- self represents selfish desires.

Going back to the Ezekiel passage we notice that in chapter 1:12 “they went every one straight forward.” This could indicate then that the area of the soul was moving the person in a particular direction.

Ultimately, we must have all areas of the soul submitted to God. Then we will say:

1. One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after, that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.2. We have the mind (intellect) of Christ.3. We live by faith.4. Not my will but thy will be done.

The knop, flower and bowl in each stem of the Lampstand indicates the three levels, 30, 60, 100 fold, or Outer Court, Holy Place, Holy of Holies. They are three levels of growth and development, just as the grass, herb bearing seed the full grown tree having fruit with the seed within itself. The fruit or bowl shaped in the form of the almond which is on the same level as the center bowl is indicative of our capability of being like Christ (see 1 John 3:2) or being changed into the same image from glory to glory (see 2 Corinthians 3:17-18).

The center stem which in particular represents Jesus Christ also has four knops each followed by a flower and bowl. This indicates being fully mature in the four aspects of the soul -- mind, emotions, will, and desires.

The Table of ShewbreadThe table of shewbread has 12 cakes on it. Just as the 12 levels in the High Priest’s breastplate represents the twelve tribes of Israel, according to their birth, so do these cakes of shewbread.

The 12 sons in order of birth are:

NAME MEANING 1. Reuben Behold a son2. Simeon Hearing3. Levi Joining4. Judah Praise5. Dan Judge (rule)6. Nepthali Wrestling7. Gad Troop8. Asher Happiness9. Issachar He will bring a reward10. Zebulun A Dwelling Place11. Joseph May God Add12. Benjamin The Son of my right hand

Now we can read the message contained in the names of the sons. Behold a son, hearing (and) joining praise (and) rule, (a) wrestling troop, happiness, he will bring a reward, a dwelling place. May God add the son of my right hand.

We can see as we read this that this speaks of the coming of Jesus Christ. However it is not referring to Jesus Christ alone because it says a “wrestling troop,” so it refers to Jesus Christ and his overcoming army (see Revelation 19). This army will include those of us who qualify for it.
