9th International Conference on Atomic Spectroscopy and 22nd CoUoquium Spectroscopicum Intemationale 4-S September 1981, Tokyo, Japan This conference..will be held from 4-8 September (Friday until Tuesday) at a site in or near Tokyo to be decided soon, and announced in the 2nd circular. SCIENTIFIC PROGRAM The conference will consider all aspects of analytical spectroscopy. Emphasis will be given to spectrochemical methods in the u.v.-vis region utilizing emission, absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy in the ‘gas phase’. Symposia and sessions devoted to specific areas and appka- tions include the following. A. Symposia Emission, absorption and fluorescence in the “gas phase”: Part I. Fundamentcd 1. Theoretical studies; 2. Instrumentation; 3. Analytical methodology. Part II. Analyricaf Applications 1. Environmental and geochemical; 2. Food and agricultural; 3. Biological and clinical; 4. Industrial; 5. Others. B. General Sessions Fundamentals and Applications 1. y-ray spectroscopy; 2. X-ray spectroscopy; 3. Ultraviolet-visable spectroscopy; 4. Infrared and Raman spectroscopy; 5. Magnetic resonance spectroscopy; 6. Electron spectroscopy; I. Mass spectroscopy; 8. New methods in analytical spectroscopy; 9. Computers in spectroscopy; 10. Others. CONFERENCE LANGUAGE AND GENERAL INFORMATION The preferred language is English. Other languages may be used, provided slides and abstracts are written in English. Various events such as a reception, a mixer and banquet are being planned; and in addition, excursions, ladies programmes, instrument exhibitions and post conference tours will be arranged.
