Parents must advise the school Bus Co-ordinator of any changes to their child/children’s bus travel, this includes students getting on their normal bus after school but alighting somewhere other than their normal destination. It is imperative that these changes are submitted in writing to the school library on the day of, or before students make any changes to bus travel, to ensure the safety of students. Parents/guardians are responsible for the care and supervision of students travelling to and from school outside the times of school supervision before and after school. In accordance with the Education and Training Reform Act 2006, schooling is compulsory for children and young people aged from 6 – 17 years unless an exemption has been granted. Students are expected to attend the school in which they are enrolled, during normal school hours every day of each term, unless: there is an approved exemption from school attendance or

attendance and enrolment for the student. For absences where there is no exemption in place, the parent/guardian must provide an explanation on each occasion to the school. The school will determine if the explanation provided is a reasonable excuse for the purposes of the parent meeting their responsibilities under the:

Education and Training Reform Act 2006. It’s not ok to be away!

Please notify the school if your child/children are absent for

any reason.

Attendance

Welcome back for another school year! Music lessons started last week, with five students continuing on

and one new student. However, I still have room for one more student who is interested in learning a

musical instrument.

Learning a musical instrument can be very beneficial for a child. Not only does it assist with their

reading and mathematical skills, it can improve hand-eye co-ordination and concentration as well. That

is why I offer music lessons for anyone at school.

For children aged five to eight (roughly Prep to Grade Three) I offer piano, recorder, guitar and violin.

These are the easiest to learn at that age, and the latter two come in different sizes to accommodate small

fingers. For the older students, I also offer flute, clarinet, trumpet, drums and saxophone.

I also offer lessons of different lengths. Twenty minute lessons are ideal for those who have trouble

concentrating for long periods of time or who are young, and thirty minute lessons are for the older

children or those who can sit still long enough! There are also joint lessons for those who wish to share a

lesson with a friend.

If you are interested in having your child or children learn an instrument, please contact me on (03)

55623975. I know that the idea of lessons might seem costly but my rates are very reasonable and the

long-term benefits for your child are enormous.

Ingredients 225 grams sunflower seeds 225 grams pitted dates

Method Place sunflowers and dates into the food processor and blend. Blend for a few minutes, scrape the mixture from down the sides of the food processor and blend again. Do this a couple of times until the mixture is soft and sticks together. To test if the mixture is ready, spoon out a chunk and squeeze it with your hands. If it stays together easily then it is ready. Be care-ful not to mix too much as they will become too soft and oily. Turn the mixture out into a mixing bowl, then take a heaped teaspoon of mixture and work it into a ball. Place into an airtight con-tainer and continue this process until all of the mixture has been used. Place in the fridge for a couple of hours to set. These balls are best kept in the fridge and can also be kept in the freezer.
