The 960HD combines the proven power of aCaterpillar® 325 hp diesel engine with Trencor’smechanical power train to give you the power tobreak out the toughest rock. The power train has atorque converter that provides power to the chain asdigging conditions dictate. Multiple chain speedsdeliver full horsepower in varying conditions. Thehead shaft drive chains are fully enclosed and run inan oil bath for much longer life. The unibody tractorframe weldment is stronger than bolted plate designsand can be equipped with a variety of chain widthsand cutting depths.

The legendary uptime of the Trencor trencheryeilds high profits, uses fewer teeth and burns lessfuel than hydrostatic machines of comparable size.The 960HD was designed for those contractors witha serious trenching job who must meet competitivebids.

DIGGING ASSEMBLYDigging assembly equipped with 36” (92 cm) diameter tailwheel;replaceable abrasion resistant wear plates; heavy-duty roller typedigging chains with hydraulic-adjuster to keep proper tension;cutter plates of T-1 steel with cup cutters or TRENCOR heavy-duty tooth blocks and replaceable carbide-tipped teeth. Heavy-duty roller type chain with Tl steel base plates and Trencor heavy-duty tooth blocks.

BOOM HOISTBoom is elevated by dual hydraulic cylinders mounted to thesubstructure. The hoist provides positive down-crowd, and ad-equate tailwheel clearance.

CONVEYORArc type 24" (61cm) wide, center guided conveyor belt hydrauli-cally driven from both ends. Speed is infinitely variable from 0 to1000 fpm (300 m/min). Conveyor is hydraulically shiftable fromside to side and is reversible in direction. An automatically en-gaged anti-drift brake is provided on the shift mechanism.

DIGGING CHAIN DRIVEMechanically driven through a multispeed power shift transmis-sion, differential and fully enclosed, oil bath lubricated roller chaindriving both ends of the headshaft. Three digging chain speedsare available to suit varied digging conditions.

CRAWLERSCaterpillar®-type, D-5 size components on an extra long framefor good stability and flotation with 24" (61 cm) low profile, triplegrouser shoes. Ground bearing pressure: 11.6 psi (.816 kg/cm2)to 13.2 psi (.924 kg/cm2) with 24" (60.9 cm) track shoes, de-pending on boom configuration.

CRAWLER DRIVE AND STEERINGInfinitely variable hydrostatic/mechanical system for speeds from0 to 2 mph (3.2 km/h). Separate hydrostatic transmission for eachtrack, with electric over hydraulic steering controls. Tracks maybe counter rotated for good maneuverability. Easily adapted toautomatic steering system, either laser or stringline.

OPERATOR’S STATIONFully enclosed, with all machine controls within easy reach ofthe operator. Elevates hydraulically 36" (91 cm) for increasedoperator visibility. Heater - air conditioner is standard.
