Our rating & descriptionThe villa was purchased in 1435 with the intention of building himself a

home. The most important changes to the villa were made during the

second half of the 17th century through to the beginning of the 18th cen-

tury. Over the years, the subsequent extensions and additions have giv-

en the house and garden a particular shape with its terraces, fountain

stairways and statues. An extensive network of paths cross at various

levels through the park that extends along the coastline. The area in

front of the various buildings is gracefully decorated with garlands of

roses and trees.

The villa, built on a peak between Cernobbio and Moltrasio is fully vis-

ible from the lake. The architecture of the residence, as well as one of

the oldest houses that surround it, is characterized by linearity in the

square volumes, and in the sober facade decorations. You will notice

a great balance between the irregular nature of the place and the villa

itself. The garden extends to the level of the two main buildings, the

main house is more organized, it reflexes the Italian ordered paths that

travel through flower beds, hedges and Baroque fountains. From here

a small driveway, once called “Genoa” for its mild climate, opens to a

series of exotic plants, agaves, orchids and other rare plants climbing

up the cliff. From here continue along the “Avenue of Cypresses” with

an artificial cave with water. Going down the street, the park turns to a

thick forest of tall trees. Wherever streets and paths intersect, creating

an arabesque that takes place between bridges, water pools and rivu-

lets. In the midst of the garden is a delightful self-fountain in honor of

Volta, surrounded by fake ruins of a classical temple.

lake, all around wicker sofas and upholstered chairs, flanked by fra-

grant lemon trees that enhance the elegant cocktail. The decorations

orated by our team of professional planners.
