Our rating & descriptionThe wonderful villa which dates to the 18th Century, was built on the

remains of a 13th Century monastery with the original facade and bell

tower remaining today. Build in 1787 for the Cardinal Angelo Maria Duri-

ni. At the end of the 18th Century the villa was bought by Giuseppe Ar-

conati Visconti. He made improvements to its gardens and the loggia.

By early 20th Century the buildings had fallen into a state of neglect

when an American military offficer, Butler Ames, purchased and reno-

vated the villa and its gardens.

In 1974 it was bought by the explorer Guido Monzino who filled it with

rich collections, including artifacts acquired on his expeditions.

This villa is the most spectacular location in Lake Como (Italy) and one

of the most beautiful and enchanting venues worldwide.

The main access to the villa is by water. The approach and the arrival at

the villa’s harbour is an unforgettable, mesmerizing experience for the

bride and groom as well as the guests.

AccomodationsNo overnight accommodations are available at the villa. An elegant

and romantic suite is at the couple’s disposal during the reception for

changing/touch-ups. For elderly guests attending the reception, an ad-

ditional bedroom can be reserved for relaxation.

WeddingsCivil ceremonies, Symbolic and Non-Catholic weddings can be per-

formed outdoors or indoors at the Villa, depending on the number of

guests, the outdoor ceremony can take place in the gardens, in the

splendid Arched Loggia, with its breathtaking views of Lake Como and

Bellagio, or on the terrace of the new Loggia Segrè, the exclusive and

elegant space dedicated to wedding celebrations with spectacular

views. Indoor ceremonies take place in the Celebration Hall of the Log-

gia Segrè.

The Villa is a museum, open to the public mostly, but it can be rented

for exclusive use for a wedding party. While the villa is open to visitors

the space rented for the wedding ceremony is of exclusive use of the

wedding party, therefore privacy is guaranteed.

Wedding ceremonies (and aperitif to follow, if required) with up to 50

guests can take place all week in the Arched Loggia or in the new Log-

gia Segrè, also while the villa is open to visitors.

Wedding ceremonies with more than 50 guests can take place on Mon-

days or Wednesdays. All other days the wedding can be celebrated af-

ter 6.00 pm.

It is possible for an aperitif to immediately follow the ceremony and con-

tinue with a lavish outdoor, or al fresco, reception.

Wedding receptions for up to 150 guests take place in the new, elegant

Loggia Segrè or in the Panoramic Lake Terrace. The elegant Loggia

Segrè is the new space available for wedding celebrations at the vil-

la. Its Celebration Hall, with magnificent lake views, can accommodate

up to 80 seated guests. The splendid terrace, with breathtaking views

over venue and the gulfs of Venus and Diana, can accomodate up to 70

seated guests. The new Loggia Segrè can accommodated a total of 150

seated guests.

The romantic Panoramic Lake Terrace can also be used for wedding

receptions. The hiring of a marquee is mandatory. Max capacity of the

Panoramic Lake Terrace is 150 seated guests.
