80% OF WHAT WE KNOW COULD BE WRONG HUMAN NEED Certainty- Too certain. you are bored uncertainty- You know nothing A lot of things we are taught .we stop asking why. Do we ask Is this right? Do we do this in Track? KNOWING Its the little details that are vital. Little things make big things happen J Wooden CAN WE GET FASTER WITHOUT RUNNING MY YEARS OF RESEARCH AND TRAINING THE ANSWER IS YES POSITIONAL ISOMETRICS DONE THE CORRECT WAY VITAL FOR YOUNG RUNNERS- Your CNS is like a computer: the main difference is that it is programmed via repetition. The more often you squat heavy the more weight you are going to lift. We only progress neurologically when we train. STANDING AT ATTENTION OPENS UP BODY INTO PERFORMING POSITION LETS PROPER MUSCLES RELAX GETS KIDS READY TO TRAIN DEFENDING OR PERFORMING- CANT DO BOTH! ATTENTION AND POWER POSE NOW A MAINSTAY IN OUR PROGRAM Holding one's body in "high-power" poses for short time periods can summon an extra surge of power and sense of well-being when it's needed, according to Harvard Business School professor Amy J.C. Cuddy. Hard to believe.but true In "Power Posing: Brief Nonverbal Displays Affect Neuroendocrine Levels and Risk Tolerance", Cuddy shows that simply holding one's body in expansive, "high-power" poses for as little as two minutes stimulates higher levels of testosterone (the hormone linked to power and dominance in the animal and human worlds) and lower levels of cortisol (the "stress" hormone that can, over time, cause impaired immune functioning, hypertension, and memory loss). The result? In addition to causing the desired hormonal shift, the power poses led to increased feelings of power and a greater tolerance for risk. POSTURE AND POSITION Maybe the easiest fix but is the most rampant in the industry Lets talk posture Posture and position in sport Position allows for the utmost motor unit recruitment not just in the muscle but also throughout the body. (anatomy trains) Posture oxygenates the brain by positioning you in good spinal alignment. Position often can dictate how much force you can take in. Proper position allows the distribution of forces along the bodies facial lines When posture and position are correct, the brain has a better opportunity to be able to recognize information from the muscle fibers in order to give the correct commands and alterations in position, time of contraction, length of contraction and motor unit activation.(JS 2002) Brain understands the beginning and the end of movement- it will fill in the rest TRAINING IDEAS ISOMETRICS Do We run when we train Max speed sprinting is similar to standing on one leg (ball of foot). The same muscles are involved. The joints are stabilized via the same means. How many people do you know who stand erect without compensation? Without shifting to one leg or having an excessive anterior or posterior tilt of the pelvis Working these positions in training is vital Let's look at training to sprint When we do sprint- time it!! For those that struggle fix it from inside out Back to programming again. We said that the body responds to reps? How many good reps are we getting? Lets go through the Isometric Lunge Wall Squat Skater Pose ETC
