First Minister’s statement, 2 March 2021
It is the intention that all secondary school pupils will return to spend some time in school from 15 March until the Easter break.
Students in the senior phase of secondary school – that is years 4 to 6 – who are taking national qualifications, will have priority for face to face lessons in school.
This will ensure that they can have their hard work fairly recognized, with qualifications under the Alternative Certification Model.
However although years 4 to 6 may have priority, we expect that all children in secondary school will receive some in-school education each week up to the Easter break and then returning to full time following that.
Scott Gov Guidance (due out this Friday)
Strict 2m distancing to be observed in the school building
Face coverings to be worn at all times (S1-6)
Testing (LFT) available for S4-6 pupils
Keyworker Hubs will continue to operate
Remote Learning to continue
Expectation that all year groups will be in the school at some point each week
Senior Phase pupils time in school to be prioritised

A week as an S5/6 pupil
● Pupils will choose 5 courses to study at an appropriate level
● All courses will be timetabled for 6 periods
● Pupils will continue to take part in core RE, PE and PSE
● S5 pupils MUST choose 5 choices
● S6 pupils who study at Advanced Higher Level should count each AH as 2 choices (max of three AHs)
● Only pupils studying at AH level will have study periods
Making your choices
• All pupils should make a video appointment to discuss course choices with their guidance teacher via our parents evening booking system. Information on how to do this will be sent to parents via email.
• Appointments will be during the school day from Tuesday 16 March – Wednesday 17 March
• Choices should be made during the appointment with the guidance teacher.
• Pupils should make an appointment with their guidance teacher whether a parent is available for the meeting or not.

Preparing for SQA Assessments
Revision should be a long-term, ongoinglearning strategy reinforcing school work

Maximise ‘school’ time
Follow school timetable + meet all deadlines.
Complete coursework + ongoing assessment work to the highest possible standard.
Ask for help: face-to-face as restrictions ease, or by private message using Google Classroom or SMH
Focus on teacher feedback to help improve
Study Planning
Have a calendar clearly showing all upcoming assessment dates, times and informations
Try and spread studying across the week - increase the number of blocks for weekends and holidays
Keep study blocks limited to 45 minutes with short breaks between subjects
Schedule study around other commitments including hobbies and interests
Don’t push study times late, try to schedule them earlier whilst alert and focused.
We will be releasing details of upcoming after-school and Easter Holiday revision classes in the near future. Make sure to sign up for all these extra opportunities.
Once a study plan has been made it is vital to…
Stick to the plan
No procrastinating
Have study plan visible for all of family
Arrive at study space a few minutes early to get organised + mentally prepared
Organise your study space (resources, stationary, peace + quiet)
Remove distractions (no phones / flight mode)
Music? - background may be ok but not if it is distracting
Family agreement - keep siblings, pets, etc away from space
Tidy study space at end of alloted time
Complete SQA Past Paper Questions
Ask for help / seek feedback from class teachers if areas of weakness continue
Use SQA marking instructions to
