The Reel Event, The Joy Noble Medal 2012 and the Club’s Campbelltown Shed BBQ project were topics of

discussion at the Club’s breakfast meeting last Tuesday.

From last Wednesday’s inaugural Reel Event the Club experienced the power of ‘real time’ action as over 100

people bought tickets in the 24 hours leading up to the event. A week out when catering decisions had to be

made the ticket sales were under 50. The Club thanked Pamela Williams, Kirsty Stark and Mina Ward for the

great event based on a huge effort, and the ability to hold their nerve as they experienced sleepless nights.

The Joy Noble Medal is a SA award for Voluntary Service by an individual. Members applauded Kevin Roberts

as his spouse, Shirley, announced to the Club of his selection for this prestigious award his contributions to the

community, through Rotary.

Subsequently members’ attention moved to the matter of how the Club will support the Shed BBQ project as

Graham and Robyn Holcroft step down from the helm after six years of leadership. The history of the project,

the value of working alongside the RC of Campbelltown, and the fellowship of involvement were aspects covered

in a very supportive discussion. A challenge has been place before the Club as it seeks members who are willing

to lead the project for the 2012/13 Rotary year.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of a worthy enterprise and in particular to encourage and foster

The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service.

High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying by every Rotarian of their occupation as an opportunity to serve

society.

The application of the ideal service by every Rotarian to their personal, business and community life.

The advancement of international understanding, goodwill and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional people united in the ideal of service.

The Four Way Test of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the truth? Is it Fair to all concerned?

Will it build goodwill and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

For good food, good fellowship And the opportunity to serve through Rotary

…we give thanks.
