A sex hormone that gives males their secondary sex characteristics.

It is, however, found in smaller amounts in the female body as well.

As the sperm leaves the male reproductive system, this process is known as an ejaculation.

8. hormonesHormones are chemical messengers sent from the Endocrine Glands to many areas of the bodies. It is the introduction of new hormones sent to the reproductive systems which begins the transformation of “inactive” systems changing into “active” systems.

9. ovaries

Ovaries are the female sex glands. Baby girls are born with two of them. The tiny eggs within them lie dormant until puberty. Then the ovaries begin to release the eggs each month. Correct answer: F

10. cervix

The cervix is a muscular tissue ring at the base of the uterus. Normally this muscle ring stays closed. During labor and delivery, it opens up or “dilates” in order for the baby to pass through the birth canal or vagina.

Menstruation is the monthly shedding of blood built up in the lining of the uterus in preparation for a possible pregnancy. This lining is not needed if the egg is not fertilized, and therefore leaves the body every 28 days on average.

Testes is plural for testicle. The testes are the two male sex glands present at birth. They do not begin to produce sperm (male sex cell) until puberty.

13. vaginaThe vagina is a muscular passageway that connects the uterus to the outside of the body. It is the channel for the male reproductive system to deposit sperm, and the passageway for the baby to be born through.

The bladder is the organ which stores the liquid waste (urine) in our bodies. It is not part of the reproduction system.

The uterus is the organ designed to hold the growing baby for nine months during fetal development. Correct answer: F

Fallopian tubes are 4-inch tubes which move the egg from the ovary to the uterus. If fertilization (joining of egg and sperm) takes place, it occurs in the Fallopian tubes.

Emission (like emission system on a car) means to send out.

The urethra is a small tube that leads from the bladder to the outside of the body. It is the passageway for the urine to leave the body.

The placenta is tissue that connects the developing baby to the mother’s uterus through the umbilical cord. Since it is sheared away from the uterus after the baby is born, it is often referred to as the “afterbirth.”

When a baby boy is born, there is a fold of skin that covers the end of the penis.

This excess skin can be surgically removed in a process called circumcision.
