The EARSeL Special Interest Group on Imaging Spectroscopy stimulatesinternational discussion among special i sts working with innovative spectralEarth Observation technologies and fosters interdiscipl inary researchaddressing today’s key environmental and societal chal l enges. Imagingspectroscopy is recently expanding from traditional airborne platformstowards new ground-based, unmanned airborne and satel l i te systems. Atthe same time, novel spectral signal s, as for instance chlorophyl lfluorescence or mid-infrared and thermal emissions, are being explored. These technological and methodological developments are inviting forexchange of new knowledge and fruitful scientific discussions during theupcoming 1 1 th EARSeL SIG IS Workshop.

Fol lowing-up the tradition of ten previous successful workshops, we wouldl ike to invite you for the 1 1 th EARSeL SIG IS Workshop to the Czech Republ ic,to the city of Brno, where the founder of the modern genetics Gregor JohannMendel carried his famous pea plant experiments. With newly establ i shedscience and technology centres and numerous research and developmentactivi ties, Brno became one of the most vibrant Czech cities, offering notonly an ideal environment for research and development, but al sonumerous art venues and cul tural events (www.gotobrno.cz/en/) .

We are looking forward welcoming you at 1 1 th EARSeL SIG IS Workshop, which wi l l take place from 6 to 8 February 2019 in the Masaryk Universitycampus Brno-Bohunice [map link].
