GITEX...In tandem with the Year of

Innovation, the GTX Horizons Zone will showcase leading edge demonstrations of next generation disruptive technologies across 3D Printing, Autonomous Vehicles, Drones and Robotics. Innovation, Interoperation and Disruption will continue as themes across the GTX Ignite conference, a powerhouse of global thought leadership, and GTX Innovation Tech Talks, free to attend sessions, that will host over 100 sessions with 150-plus global futurists, including the Prime Minister of Estonia, ICT ministers from Egypt, Kenya, and Nigeria, and senior executives from Accenture, BP, Boeing, and Facebook.

In partnership with the UAE Drones for Good Award, GTX Horizons’ Drones Zone will host a selection of this year’s award winners, and

drones from top manufacturers such as DJI, the world’s largest manufacturer of drones.

The GTX Hub will form the umbrella of industry vertical-focused digital transformation, providing new research, networking, and solutions for the key verticals of banking, construction, education, healthcare, retail, and oil and gas. This is being driven by reports that the GCC’s vertical specific software market is set to nearly double from USD 756 million in 2014 to USD 1.45 billion in 2020.

At the Robotics Zone, sponsored by DigiRobotics, attendees can learn how to enable robotics for the IoT era and witness the latest robotics across industry verticals.

The event’s first-ever 3D Printing area, sponsored by Jacky’s Business Solutions LLC, will showcase 3D printing across a variety of materials, and how it can impact fields such as healthcare, education, and manufacturing.

Additional new and expanded GITEX Technology Week features include the world’s largest Google CSI Lab, All Night Hackathon, Hot Stuff Awards, Student Lab, and networking platforms the Connexions Majlis, Connexions Lounge, and Connexions Online.

Co-located events include the GSMA Mobile 360 Series, the region’s leading mobile community conference, and InfoComm MEA, the Middle East and Africa’s leading audio visual technology event.

Reinforcing GITEX Technology Week’s standing as the largest ICT exhibition in the Middle East, Africa, and South Asia, and the third largest in the world, the show is expecting more than 130,000 visitors from over 150 countries, with more than 20,000 C-level executives, and more than 3,600 exhibiting brands from 62 countries.

Global interest in the event is being further driven by the growth of Future Cities initiatives, which in the UAE is being

spearheaded by the Smart Dubai Initiative and UAE Vision 2021 – key drivers of the country’s digital transformation.

“Dubai is committed to becoming a global benchmark for Smart Cities of the future. We are collaborating with leading public and private organizations to meet the needs of all residents and visitors, from government to education and healthcare, through a connected and responsive citywide infrastructure. Together with our partners, we are enabling smart economic conditions driving entrepreneurship and global competitiveness that will serve as a model for emerging nations. We are continually reviewing and refining the latest technology innovations, from mobile apps to drones, to understand how we may adopt these tools to make city experiences more seamless, safe, efficient and impactful for all,” said Dr. Aisha Butti Bin Bishr, Assistant Director General of The Executive Office and SmartDubai Taskforce leader.

At the 35th edition of GITEX, Brocade will continue to strengthen its portfolio around ‘The New IP’ trend. According to the company, it will reinforce this concept for the next two years. As per reports

from research analyst IDC, the ICT industry is undergoing accelerating transition to the 3rd Platform for innovation and growth.

Yarob Sakhnini, Regional Director, MEMA, Brocade, says, “Today the 3rd Platform is being built on mobile computing, social networking, cloud services, and Big Data analytics technologies. This is inextricably linked to The New IP.”

The New IP is a virtualised IP underlying network platform that provides a more dynamic, automated capability based on leveraging software and virtualisation, allowing customers to exploit best-of-breed technologies, based on open architectures and open ecosystems, and not be locked into any one vendor.

 “A flexible, efficient and intelligent

network affords organisations greater agility, reduced time-to-market, increased reliability, and a serious reduction in the power and space used in the data centre,” he adds.

According to Sakhnini, ROI is the most important factor when it comes to participating in shows like GITEX, besides building brand awareness and equity.

“We keep a close eye on the business leads we generate at GITEX right up to the point where we convert these leads into actual business. We also hope to expose our brand and gain wider brand recognition.”

The company believes that GITEX is an excellent platform to understand the dynamics and requirements of the local

market, connect with partners and customers, exhibit broad range of innovations and expose the brand to a wide audience.

While there was a lot of talk on emerging trends such as Big Data, SDN, NFV, cloud computing and IoT at last year’s show, it was however, from a more conceptual perspective.

“This year we actual saw those technologies come to fruition and in the next year or so we will see these same trends gain momentum leading to deployments. In the near future we will get to see very exciting and futuristic technologies, especially in the IoT space. Gitex is a fixture on our events calendar so we will definitely be back next year.”

A10 Networks highlights its security focus at GITEX with Next-Generation Application Delivery Controllers and DDoS mitigation solutions.

At the show, the company is displaying Thunder appliances, including Application Delivery Controllers (ADC) with SSL Insight and Threat Protection Systems (TPS) that ensure user-to-application connectivity is fast, always on, safe and secure.

Glen Ogden, Regional Sales Director, Middle East, A10 Networks, says, “The A10 Thunder

TPS product line is the industry’s highest performing multi-vector DDoS detection and mitigation solution per rack-unit. Thunder TPS can mitigate attacks of over 200 million packets per second (PPS), and provides various deployment modes and the RESTful aXAPI to integrate into any network architecture.”

While the industry will continue to buzz about Big Data, cloud, mobile, social and IoT, Ogden believes security will remain at the top of the priority list of most CIOs and CTOs.

Over the coming months, the company expects to see many more cloud services being deployed in the region. “So, this is still a space to watch. Cloud has also been driving our understanding of data usage with latest statistics showing business is nearly doubling its use year on year.  Therefore, ‘Big Data’ is fast becoming a priority with most organisations,” adds Ogden.

Operators will start looking at technologies such as Network Functions Virtualisation (NFV) and Software Defined Networking

According to Zeineldin, GITEX is a very important networking platform for the company to meet existing customers, strengthen relationships and gain potential long-term business partnerships and customers. eHDF is at Hall 6, Stand: CLD-19.

eHDF presents cloud and DR services

(SDN). And security – whether it is mobile security or DDoS will also be much talked about in the next year.

Also, Internet of Things (IoT) will have gained momentum and by next GITEX, there will be much talk about deploying IoT technologies.

He adds, “GITEX provides us with the ideal platform to not only educate enterprises about these threats, but more importantly, to demonstrate how our solutions can help regional customers accelerate and secure their data

centre applications and networks.“No other ICT event in the

region gives you as much access to partners and customers as GITEX. It’s a ‘not to miss’ technology event and a great platform to build on existing relationships and forge new ones. Our business in the Middle East has only been growing from strength to strength over the past few years, so we undoubtedly will be back again next year – bigger and better.”
