Location The property is accessed from a tree lined lane known as The Avenue in one of South Ayrshire prettiest villages. Barr, which is a Conservation village, lies in an upland setting on the edge of the Southern Uplands in the Stinchar Valley. The village is about 8 miles from the principal town of Girvan. In the village there is a primary school, a community ran shop and bowling green. Although delightfully rural the locality affords easy access to many of the attractions within the district which include: a variety of attractive hill and coastal walks and cycle trails, including the Barr trails; Loch Doon; the National Trusts Culzean Castle and Country Park; Galloway Forest Park which was recently awarded the prestigious designation as the first dark sky park in the UK; excellent golf courses at Girvan and Turnberry. There are of course the usual field sports and rivers for fishing, the most notable of which in the district is the River Stinchar. In Girvan can be found secondary school, general hospital, a variety of shops both independent and multiple retailers, leisure facility known as the Quay Zone with swimming pool, gym and soft play area, ASDA supermarket and an attractive seafront, promenade and working harbour with moorings for pleasure craft. Girvan has a train station which provides connections north to Ayr, Prestwick Airport and Glasgow and south to Stranraer. The main route into this corner of Ayrshire is the A77 coming south from Ayr/Glasgow. Ayr approximately 30 miles, Prestwick Airport approx 34 miles and Glasgow about 64 miles. Directions Travelling from Ayr to Girvan, take A77 and continue to roundabout on outskirts of Girvan. Here take first exit, B734 signpost, Dailly. Continue to small settlement of Old Dailly and here turn right. Continue ahead up hill and follow signs for Barr. Travelling up through a stunning upland landscape proceed toward village and on crossing bridge continue ahead to centre of village and turn left at end of Stinchar Road and continue ahead on Glenginnet Road.
