WHAT ARE THE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADMISSION? You must have been admitted to practice and in good standing for at least 3 years with the highest court of your state- this is typically your state’s supreme court. Your certificate of good standing must be from the highest court in the state you are barred in and not the state bar association. IF I AM ADMITTED BY WRITTEN MOTION, WILL I BE ABLE TO PARTICIPATE IN A FUTURE SWEARING-IN CEREMONY AT THE COURT AND HAVE THE SAME BAR MEMBERSHIP PRIVILEGES? Once admitted via written motion, admittees are not permitted to participate in a future in-person admission ceremony. However, written motion admittees are welcome to register as a guest to attend a future in-person P.A.D. Day event. Written motion admittees do receive the same benefits of the Court as in-person admittees such as access to attend U.S. Supreme Court with preferred seating, access to the library, and a certificate. WHEN WILL P.A.D. DAY BE HOSTED IN-PERSON? We will resume hosting the in-person version of P.A.D. Day at the Supreme Court when COVID-based restrictions are lifted and it is safe to do so. Updates will be available on www.PAD.org/PADDay regarding the 2022 events. The 2021 in-person P.A.D. Day has been cancelled. WHAT DOES THE REGISTRATION FEE INCLUDE? The registration fee includes the bar application fee of $200, sponsor signatures if needed, and P.A.D. coordination with the Court. NOTE: The complete registration fee includes the $200 bar admission fee, please submit ONE payment to P.A.D. HOW DO I PAY? You can pay by credit card or check. Please make checks payable to ‘Phi Alpha Delta Law Fraternity’. To pay by credit card, please complete the payment section on the registration form, or call the P.A.D. Executive Office to pay by phone. You can also visit www.PAD.org/PADDay to pay your fee on the pricing modules. Please note there is a 2% added processing fee for all credit card payments. All payments must be received prior April 5, 2021. CAN I SCAN OR EMAIL MY APPLICATION TO THE P.A.D. OFFICE? No, you cannot scan or email your application to our office. It is a Court requirement that all signatures must be originals- pen to paper. No scans, faxes, or copies are accepted of the application or certificate of good standing. NOTE: Applications MUST be typed! I NEED HELP OBTAINING SPONSOR SIGNATURES & A MOVANT, CAN YOU HELP? Yes! Simply mail your application to our office with the sponsor signature portion blank, and we’ll obtain those for you via P.A.D. alumni members who offer their sponsorship. On the movant portion of the signature page, please type your name and leave the signature portion blank. P.A.D. will provide a movant for your admission. NOTE: All applicants MUST sign the Certification and Oath of Admission portions of the signature page of the bar application. I AM NOT A P.A.D. MEMBER, CAN I STILL PARTICIPATE? Applicants MUST be P.A.D. alumni members, as this event is a benefit of membership. To participate, simply follow the instructions and pay the non-member fee. This fee includes all portions of the event, AND P.A.D. alumni membership.
