Concrete

As a huge element in the aesthetic quality of Ando’s work, an understanding of the techniques used to acheive different variations in concrete, was something which I considered very impor-tant while studying this building.Wooden shuttering was made, each with a different internal texture to replicate the techniques used in casting in-situ concrete. The grain of different timbers, regular undulations of rows of wire and a smooth shine from plastic were all transferred with different degrees of clarity.
