St. Mark’s Episcopal Chapel Mar. 26, 2017 Open Minds, Open Hearts, Open Doors Page 1 of 6 4th Sunday in Lent Eucharist and Discussion – Wednesday 12 Noon Please join us in the chapel this Wednesday when we celebrate the Eucharist as part of a service of prayer, silence, and discussion on scripture readings appointed for John Keble. Through his hymn-poems, sermons and friendship with John Henry Newman, Keble advocated daily prayer, more frequent Eucharists and priestly instruction of worship and practice. The Oxford Movement began. Think about it… “In too many congregations, the way the congregation is organized to do business, and the implicit idea that the best way to get people involved is to get them on a committee, is proving counterproductive. Moreover, the elaborate organizational structures of many congregations are designed more for maintenance than mission—to maintain the status quo rather than respond to new challenges. An alternative to the typical way in which congregations are organized may be gained from the field of “whole systems design,” in which a congregation is thought of less as an organization and more as a system. Unlike the organizational model that often pits one area of church life against another (“more money for music means less for social action”), a systems approach to congregational life requires that each part of the system be healthy because each part depends on every other part for the whole to work.” — Anthony B. Robinson, “Changing The Conversation” Easter Flowers At Easter, St. Mark’s is beautifully decorated in celebration of Christ’s resurrection. Tulips, daffodils and other spring flowers transform the church to celebrate this glorious morning. Donations may be made in memory of departed friends and loved ones as well as in thanksgiving for special persons, events or occasions important to you. Please look for order forms in Goodwin Hall or on a table in the lower hallway. Return completed forms to the office, no later than Monday, April 10.
