He is the former Professor and Chairman of the Department of Periodontology and Implant Dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry.
INTERDISCIPLINARY APPROACH TO THE MANAGEMENT OFIMPLANT ESTHETIC FAILURES
TEIL 1: Managing Esthetic Failures on Anterior Dental Implants: Etiologies & Treatment Solutions
SynopsisEsthetic failures associated with dental implants in the esthetic zone can be one of the greatest challenges facing the dental team. These dilemmas can present themselves as either midfacial, interdental, or combination defect types. A significant part of treatment therapy revolves around correction of these esthetic defects due to either poor treatment planning, implant placement, and restorative contours. Surgical, orthodontics, and restorative treatment planning options and techniques to address these esthetic deficiencies will be presented in a sequential manner from simple periodontal-restorative solutions to more complex case types involving orthodontics, periodontics, and prosthetics.
LEARNING OUTCOMES
After this presentation, the attendee should be able to:
• Know the potential of hard and soft tissue correction around aesthetically challenged anterior implants
• Know when adjunctive orthodontic therapy should be employed
• Know when a prosthetic restorative solution is the best treatment plan option
TEIL 2: Immediate Extraction Socket ManagementImmediate placements of implants into extraction sockets is an exciting treatment alternative for our patients. However, there are many potential short and particularly long term risks which the practitioner must be fully aware of. This presentation will focus on the potential problems and benefits both clinically and biologically when the choice of immediate socket placement is made for single and multiple sites.
Upon completion of this presentation participants should be able to:• Identify what type of healing takes place against the implant in immediate socket placement
• Know how to minimize recession with immediate provisionalization
• Know the proper crown contour for immediate provisionals
• Know if the gap distance really matters
• Know if primary closure should be attempted or should it be left open?
• Know if membranes should be utilized?
• Know what type of graft material if any should be utilized?
• Identify what are the potential short and long term risks involved with immediate placement of implants?

DR. PAULO MALO Paulo Malo, graduated in 1989 from the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Lisbon, founded MALO CLINIC in 1995. The large success and exponential growth of his clinic has prompted an extensive international expansion and the birth of an International Health Group, present in five Continents.
STATE-OF-THE-ART REHABILITATION FOR TOTAL EDENTULOUS:THE MALO CLINIC PROTOCOL
Introduction:A fixed prosthesis is the best treatment option for the edentulous patient and those facing the imminent loss of their remaining dentition. Through innovation, along with continuous clinical and scientific research, it has become possible to treat virtually every edentulous case with a highly functional and esthetic fixed solution, increasing the quality of life for these patients. The MALO CLINIC protocol for totally edentulous rehabilitation has allowed thousands of clinicians around the world to achieve this essential goal for their patients.
The oral rehabilitation of these patients has two stages: surgical and prosthetic. The MALO CLINIC Protocol follows the All-on-4® Surgical Protocol - an innovative technique developed in the early 90’s at MALO CLINIC that allows for immediate function, full-arch implant supported prosthetics. This widely applicable surgical protocol allows for a simple and immediate rehabilitation with a provisional bridge fixed on 4 implants, with minimum cantilevers, 3 – 4 hours after the surgery.
Topics/Learning Objectives:• Re-think Oral Rehabilitation for the fully edentulous and those with a “terminal dentition” Learn the principles, advantages of and the biomechanics of the All-on-4® Surgical Protocol -
MALO CLINIC Protocol.• Understand the use of tilted implants on the All-on-4® Surgical Protocol - MALO CLINIC Protocol.• Learn the techniques of surgical implant placement, abutment connection and temporization, as well as the final prosthetic steps;• Understand the MALO CLINIC Bridge Concept and its advantages.

BONE SUBSTITUTES VERSUS AUTOLOGOUS BONE GRAFTSIN PRE-IMPLANT AUGMENTATIONS
Introduction:This lecture will give an overview about indications for improving the implant bed before implant placement using bone substitutes or bone grafts. Pros and cons of the different materials as well as different donor sites for bone grafts will be discussed and demonstrated using example cases. The challenges of secondary augmentations will be also highlighted in this presentation. Long-term results of the different techniques will be shown according to the current literature.
At the end of the lecture, participants should have an increased knowledge about:• Indications for augmentations before implant placement• Basics of GBR/GTR-techniques• Pros and cons of synthetic bone substitutes• Pros and cons of bovine bone substitutes• Intra- and extraoral donor sites for bone grafts• Options to solve augmentation needs in secondary complex cases
