WHEREAS, the City Council if Rancho Santa Margarita recognizes the children if our community as our most precious resource; and

Wl:IEREAS, early childhood education opportunities are if great benefit to the community and assist parents as they prepare children .for ongoing success in elementary school and beyond; and

WHEREAS, ABCs with Tiny Tots is a recreational kindergarten preparedness program for children ages three and up and is one if the most popular Community Services programs qff'ered at the Bell Tower Community Center; and

WHEREAS, through a well-rounded curriculum if art~ science, music, cooking and literature, children are introduced to the concepts qf letters, numbers and shapes, while developing social skills through sharing; listening; cooperating and exercising patience; and

Wl:IEREAS, with the loving guidance if Arlene Mottershead, better known as "Mrs. M", ABCs with Tiny Tots students learn how to interact with new friends, make decisions, and discover their interests and potential in a nurturing environment with caring teachers; and

Wl:IEREAS, Arlene Mottershead's vast experience includes a Bachelor if Arts degree in Recreation Administration, certifi'cation in Early Childhood Education, and over 30 years of teaching experience;

PROCLAMATION

Fire Prevention Week October 4 -10~ ~015

WHEREA~ the week of October 1.·- 1 0, 20 I 5, has been designated as "Fire Prevention Week" by the National Fire Protection Association and the International Association qf Fire Chiefs; and

WHEREAS, fire is a serious public safety concern both locally and nationally, and homes are wheTe residents are at greatest risk from fire. Three out of five home jz're deaths result from jz'res in propeTties without working smoke alaTms; and

WHEREAS, installing systems such as s1noke alaTms and alert devices that meet the needs qf people who are deaf or hard qf hearing, can reduce the Tisk of horne fires, pmperty loss, in fury or death due to a jz're; and

WHEREAS, Orange County Residents are responsive to public education and outreach measures and are able to lake personal steps to increase their- scifety from fi·re, especial~y in their homes; and

WHEREAS, the 2015 FiTe Pnvention fVeek theme, "Hear the Beep fVhere yon Sleep" ~ffectively serves to remind us that we need working smoke alarms to give us the time to get out safely;
