PRACTICES (GLP) & GOOD CLINICAL PRACTICES (GCP)

Scope & Objectives of the Conference
This six days workshop is to impart the candidates an overview of the drug development process, with
special insight on each vital phase of clincal trails with GLP & GCP so as to introduce and strengthen the
fundamentals. The workshop also provides an opportunity to learn about the clinical research, its GLP
and GCP and to prune their skills to the need of the hour for this specific industry. Technical Sessions
will be handled by eminent Scientists and Professors from reputed R&D, Government and Private
organisations, educational as well as training institute. It enable the researchers and students to inculcate
the proficiency and identify challenging problems, perceive and offer effective solutions in the field of
drug development by enhancing their knowledge on GLP and GCP.

Accommodation
Accommodation for the participants will be arranged in Loyola Hostel, AICUF House based on
specific request.
Please send your accommodation request to the Organizing Convener on or before 17th May,
2012. Participants deciding to stay in hotels have to make their own arrangements for accommodation and
transport.
ABOUT CHENNAIChennai (Formerly known as Madras) is the capital of Tamil Nadu State in India. It is the fourth largest
metropolitan city in India. Chennai is a large commercial and industrial centre and is the country’s second
largest exporter of software and IT enabled services. Chennai is also known for its cultural heritage and
temples architecture. The 12-kilometer long Marina Beach forms the city’s east coast and is the second
longest beach in the world. Its proximity to the sea gives it a hot and humid climate for most of the year.
LOYOLA COLLEGE
Loyola College, Chennai was established in 1925 by the Society of Jesus. The college is situated in the
heart of the Chennai city and hence easily accessible. The campus encompasses students from
multilingual and multicultural background and provides a secular environment. Loyola College was
awarded the autonomous status in 1978 and has been accredited at “A+” level by NAAC. It was declared
as “College with Potential for Excellence” by the UGC in 2003. Recently, it has been certified as aScientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO) by the Department of Scientific and Industrial

LOYOLA INSTITUTE OF FRONTIER ENERGY (LIFE)
Loyola Institute of Frontier Energy (LIFE) within Loyola College campus was started in 1995 under
the leadership of Rev. Dr. Francis P. Xavier SJ. The primary aim of LIFE is to promote interdisciplinary
research in the thrust areas of Energy, Environments, Materials Science and Bioethics. Presently it is

under the able administration of Dr. M. Selvanayagam, Director, LIFE. LIFE also has organized
international conference, national conferences, seminars, symposia and workshops on various topics for
the benefit of Academic Institutions, Research Institutes and Schools. In 1999, LIFE started a new
interdisciplinary journal “Convergence” with a view of highlighting the energy and environmental issues
in the research field. The centre for environmental research and development (CERD), initiated by
Dr.S.Vincent, an integral part of LIFE, focuses on research that contributes to the improvement of
environmental and social health (www.cerdbio.org).

Number of Participants: A total of 50 participants (Limited intake)
Selection: As the total intake is limited to maximum of 50 Participants, the applications stating their
curriculum vitae will be accepted on the first come first serve basis. The last date for receiving the same
is until 17th
of May 2012. Travel Allowance will be provided to out station Participants.
Registration Fee: Rs.1,000/- per participant.
All payments should be sent in the form of a Demand Draft drawn in favor of “Principal, Loyola
College, Chennai” and payable at Chennai latest by 17th
May, 2012, along with duly filled
Registration and accommodation form to the organizing secretary.
