This election year is challenging. It’s quite possibly themost unusual and divided of all the presidential electionsthat we have seen in our country for quite some time.Coupled with this highly volatile election is our troublingeconomic situation and the declining moral culture inour land. And if that was not enough, we continue to seeglobal unrest with wars, economic instability, and therise of terrorism. But before we allow ourselves to getdiscouraged and give up, we need to focus our hearts,minds, and feelings on the ONE who has everything inHis hands – our Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus told us toALWAYS pray and never give up. Nothing is impossiblewith God. So, as His people, we humbly bend our kneesand seek His face over the next 40 days and nights –praying for His church, for our nation and this upcomingelection, and for the world. May the Lord’s will be doneon Earth as it is in heaven.

We ask that You will raise up leaders who will stand fortruth and righteousness. We pray that the fear of Godwill sweep across our nation, leading us to a place ofwisdom. Raise up a standard of righteousness thathonors Your Word and exalts Your name. Father, awakenYour people to the reality of what the enemy is doing todestroy our foundations. Help us,so that we may pray without bias for all of those who runfor elected office this term, that Your will would be doneboth in the nation they are asked to serve and in theirhearts and minds, as individuals whom You love. Help us bea people free of malice and fear because our hope is in JesusChrist alone. Help us be a people able to love our neighborsand our leaders in thought, word, and deed, because ourhope is in Jesus Christ alone. Our faith is firmly planted in Jesus Christ. We understandthat the Lord hears our prayers and that His will is alwaysaccomplished. No matter the outcome of this year’selection, we need to understand that God is in control of allthat is happening in the world. We need to continue to pray– without ceasing – for the new president and theiradministration; for the leaders of our nation, including theSupreme Court Justices; for the moral fabric of our nationand that the church can be a bright light in our dark culture;and for the global unrest we see all around us.

But we also ask that you pray for your missionary team,Faith and Action in the Nation’s Capital, that we may bringthe truth, hope, and peace of the Gospel to this newadministration and to Congress, the Supreme Court, andour nation’s military. We covet your prayers and are readyto minister to all the new faces that are now in Washington,D.C.

We pray that you are encouraged and strengthened by theLord Jesus Christ as together we reach our communities,our nation, and our world for Christ.
