The Church at Litchfield Park, aspiring to be as inclusive as the love of God, welcomes everyone who comes to the doors of this House of Prayer for all People.

CHIMES PRELUDE “Lamb of God” arr. Mark Hayes

BRINGING IN THE LIGHT (9:15 only)

WELCOME, REGISTRATION and ANNOUNCEMENTS

CALL TO WORSHIP (9:15 only) L: Today we gather together in the name of Jesus Christ to worship God and to learn about God’s kingdom. P: As we gather, we call upon God to be present with us, using the music and words to speak to our hearts. L: As God speaks to us, we must be ready not only to listen but to act upon the message of God to our hearts in order to be part of God’s work in the world. P: May God not only help us to hear but inspire and equip us to act in accordance to God’s will that we might be part of God’s growing kingdom on earth.

HYMN “Now Thank We All Our God” No. 788 (8:00 a.m. Verses 1 & 3)

(9:15 a.m. All Verses)

CONFESSION OF THE CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY (9:15 only) Prayer of Confession: (In Unison)

Loving God, you have planted your seed of love in the soil of our hearts, intending that what has begun as something small might grow and become significant. Forgive us when we have blocked the rays of light from reaching our hearts by our selfishness. Help us to fertilize the soil of our hearts with service to others. Remind us that even hardships in life are the tilling of the soil that will help your love grow into a plant that benefits those around us.

3

L: Let us now pray together the prayer that our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ taught us: P: Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.

MARK 4:26-34 (NIV) “He also said, ‘This is what the kingdom of God is like. A man scatters seed on the ground. Night and day, whether he sleeps or gets up, the seed sprouts and grows, though he does not know how. All by itself the soil produces grain—first the stalk, then the head, then the full kernel in the head. As soon as the grain is ripe, he puts the sickle to it, because the harvest has come.’ Again he said, ‘What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.’ With many similar parables Jesus spoke the word to them, as much as they could understand. He did not say anything to them without using a parable. But when he was alone with his own disciples, he explained everything.”
