4-H BANQUET Congratulations to all of the members and volunteers that were recognized at the 4-H Achievement Banquet that was held in October. Also, a huge thank you to all of the parents and volunteers for another successful year!

Special guests Dr. Mark Mains, Assistant Director for 4-H Youth Development and Haley Anderson, 4-H State Presi-dent, joined us for our achievement banquet and brought greetings on behalf of the Kentucky 4-H Program and Ken-tucky 4-H Officer Team. Thank you so much to the both of them for attending our banquet.

Vicky Tungate received an Emeritus Award from the Boone County 4-H Council for 34 years of experience volun-teering with Boone County 4-H. Thank you, Vicky!

Mike Klahr, retired horticulture agent, received the Friend of Boone County 4-H Award at the Boone County 4-H Achievement Banquet. Congratulations, Mike!

IMPORTANT SHARPSHOOTER NEWS

The Sharpshooters will be starting their new year in January! This 4-H club is a shooting sports club offering education in the following disciplines: archery, .22 caliber rifle, and 12 and 20-gauge shotgun.

Any 4-H’er interested in joining the Sharpshoot-ers for the first time are welcome to attend the meetings in November and December. NEW members are to attend three of the six indoor meetings, including the two mandatory safety meetings in March and April in order to participate in the outdoor shoots. Returning members will need to attend three of the six indoor meetings, including one of the mandato-ry safety meetings in March and April in order to participate in the outdoor shoots. The Sharp-shooters meet the second Thursday of each month from 7:00-8:30 pm. If you have ques-tions, please contact the office!

BOONE COUNTY 4-H LIVESTOCK CLUB COMMUNITY SERVICE OPPORTUNITIES

The 4-H Livestock Club will be doing several community service opportunities this year. These are great opportunities to give back to our community and help others.

February/March: Women’s Crisis Center—Collect ink pens, garbage bags, adult color-ing books, crayons, and markers. Please bring items to the 4-H Livestock Club meet-ings in February and March.

ATTENTION 4-H LIVESTOCK CLUB MEMBERS!

Reminder: 2017 enrollment forms are due by the mandatory meeting in January!

*Mandatory livestock meeting is Thursday, January 26, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the Enrich-ment Center. This meeting is for all partici-pants who plan to exhibit a market animal at the county fair in August and/or participants in the 4-H Country Ham project. IMPORTANT INFORMATION! Dates to remember when purchasing your market projects are:

• Lambs and hogs must be born on or after January 1, 2017.

• All beef steers must be born on or after January 1, 2016

• All Market goats must be born on or after December 1, 2016

• Market chickens must be hatched on or after May 15, 2017 and are required to be from a certified hatchery.

• All rabbits must be born on or after June 2, 2017.

• Ducks must be hatched on or after April 1, 2017.

Snow Day Policy Please remember that we follow the same schedule Boone County Schools follow regarding cancellations. If the schools are closed due to inclement weather, any 4-H activities scheduled for the day by our office (banquets,

meetings, workshops, etc.) will be automatically cancelled and rescheduled at a later time.

ELECTRONICS CLUB We hope everyone had fun at our November club meeting! Capacitors are very interesting, but they aren't the only ener-gy storage component in our arsenal. Join us on Tuesday, December 13 from 6:30-8:00 pm at the Extension Office to learn about the next energy storage device: inductors! Remember to enroll in 4-H to join our club. You are welcome to email us with questions at 4helectronicsclub@gmail.com.

AEROSPACE CLUB

Our next meeting will be on Monday, December 5 from 6:30-8:00 pm in the lower level of the Enrichment Center. December will be part one of a three-part series on airplanes, which will include a lot of building and test flying. Come see how a design's overall shape and weight (which includes payload) can affect flight per-formance. Everyone can try 3D designing on our computer, and also try our flight simulator to see what it would feel like to sit in the cockpit and fly the type of plane you design. CLOVERBUDS The Cloverbuds had a fun meeting in November making turkey crafts for Thanksgiving! Our next

meeting will be held at the Extension Office on Friday, December 2 at 7:00 pm! Come join the fun with us!

Records weighed 40,000

pounds and was 102 feet

wide?! Check out immaculatebaking.com to

see the huge oven that was constructed just to

bake it! The tallest cookie tower was made by

Girl Scouts and included 22,800 cookies! The

largest cookie jar collection—2,653 jars—can

be seen at a store in Metamora, IN (just about

an hour away). Merry Christmas!

PHOTO FRENZY There will not be a Photo Frenzy Club meeting in December. Meetings are held the third Thursday

of the month from 6:00-7:00 pm at the Extension Office. The photo contest theme for the January 19 meeting is "Holiday." New members are welcome to participate by bringing in a 4x6 photo to be judged by fellow club

members. There is a prize each month for the winner. Contact Carol Battaglia at 859-869-2103 or at bc4hphotofrenzy@gmail.com for more information.

RABBIT CLUB During our November meeting, we elected officers for the club, started working on making our SOP binders, explored different rabbit breeds, and looked at some common illnesses of rabbits. Please remember that we will not be meeting in December—Merry Christmas! Our next meeting will be January 10, 2017 from 6:30-7:30 pm in the Claxon Room. We look forward to seeing you then to start our first full year in the rabbit club!

PAWS & CLAWS CAT CLUB Paws and Claws welcomed three new members last month: Emily Emerson, Ava Reed, and Zack Whaley. We played a game of Cat Charades and worked on a workbook page about being a responsible pet owner. Two Little Orphan Kittens visited for some play time. Our next meeting will be on December 14. We will have a Christmas party with a cat gift exchange and create a cat craft project. Members will bring a snack to share and donate items for the Boone and Grant County animal shelters. Items will include cat litter, small cans of food, dry cat and dog chow, and small toys. Items can either purchased or handmade.

WIGGLES AND WAGS DOG CLUB At our last meeting, we elected officers for the upcoming year, had a dog visitor, and even made crafts! The elected officers are: Presi-dent: Rachel Schlosser; Vice President: John

Bulmer; Histori-an: Bri Stone; and Secretary: Whitney Bailey. Congratulations! Our next meet-ing is December 20 at 7:00 pm. We will have an-
