Friday August 10, 2018 4 DISTRICTS 27 bovines rescued, smuggler held STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA/RAJOURI: Police on Thursday foiled four bovine smuggling bid by rescuing 27 bovines and arresting a smuggler. According to a report, a team of Ghagwal Police Station head- ed by SI Bansi Lal Sharma SHO Ghagwal Police Station on the directions of SSP Samba Dr Koushal Kumar Sharma laid a Naka on Jammu Pathankot National Highway near Tapyal and signalled a truck (JK02AS- 9811) coming from Kathua side but driver on seeing the police accelerated the vehicle and fled from spot. He was chased and intercepted near Jatwal. During check- ing, it was found laden with 13 bovines which were rescued and the truck was seized. The driver of the vehicle managed to escape from the spot, however a case vide FIR No. 109/2018 under section 188 RPC, 2/3 PCA Act was registered at Police Station Ghagwal. In Rajouri District, a team from Kalakote Police Station res- cued three bovines from smugglers at Potha. Bid was foiled after cops saw some people moving along with bovines at some distance and challenged them to stop but smugglers fled back leaving behind three bovines. Another police team headed by Incharge PP Lamberi, SI Vikram Jasrotia rescued four bovines. An information about movement of smugglers was received after which police team rushed to Dhankaar Lamberi Road but smugglers saw police vehicle from some distance and fled from there leaving behind four bovines. A team from Budhal Police Station arrested Shabir Ahmed son of Abdul Hamid resident of Draman who was found carrying seven bovines in a smuggling bid by foot. All the bovines have been rescued. Police has taken cognisance in all these cases at Police Stations of Kalakote, Nowshera and Budhal. Notorious criminal, drug peddler detained under PSA STATE TIMES NEWS SAMBA: A notorious criminal and drug peddler was detained under PSA at Samba on Thursday. He has been identified as Shiv Raj Singh (26) son of Isher Singh resident of Gurha Slathia Samba. In order to curtail the activities of hardcore criminal who is involved in number of criminal activities and is a great threat to the life and liberty of the people of Samba District particu- larly Vijaypur town, a special team of Police Station Vijaypur under the overall supervision of Dr. Koshal Kumar Sharma, SSP Samba and under close supervision of Baljeet Singh, SDPO Vijaypurand Inspr. Rajinder Sharma, SHO Police Station Vijaypur was constituted and the arrest of the said accused person was affected. Influential and hardcore criminal, the subject is also a notorious drug peddler and involved in a number of drug smuggling cases. Accordingly, in order to put an end to his prejudicial criminal activities, District Police Samba compiled all the police record of said Shiv Raj Singh alias Raju prepared his dossier and got issued his warrant under Public Safety Act from Sushma Chauhan, IAS Deputy Commissioner, Samba vide her office order No. 03/PSA of 2018 dated August 6, 2018 to prevent him from indulging in prejudicial criminal activities and lodged the said detune in Sub-Jail Hiranagar on August 9, 2018 after execution of warrant under PSA issued against him. With the arrest of said hardcore criminal/drug peddler the people of the area had a sigh of relief. Four taken into preventive custody STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: Four persons have been taken into preventive cus- tody for their involvement in anti-social activities. Complaint/dossier for their detention was submitted before Executive Magistrates by police and detention order were issued by Executive Magistrates. Among these four, three persons were detained in Darhal who include Altaf Hussain son of Hamidullah resident of Chowkian ( Aged 35 ), Zaffer Iqbal son of Abdul Hamid resident of Chowkian (32) and Mohd Imran son of Mohd Ayoub resident of Chowkian (22). Their detention order were issued by Executive Magistrate from Darhal and have been detained under preventive deten- tion under section 107/151/110 CRPC and lodged in District Jail Dhangri and detention order was implemented by SHO Darhal Habib Pathan under the supervision of SDPO Thanamandi Iftikar Chowdhary. Meanwhile, a team of police headed by SHO Budhal Jahangir Ahmed implemented an order for detention of Sajad Ahmed son of Abdul Qayoom resident of Samote Budhal. The order for taking him in preventive custody was issued by Executive Magistrate on the basis of a complaint /dossier submitted by local police. He has also been lodged in District jail Dhangri. Missing girl traced STATE TIMES NEWS RAJOURI: A missing girl has been traced by police and hand- ed over to her family. Missing report of the girl was lodged by her brother in Budhal Police Station on August 6, who report- ed that his real sister had left the house on August 4 , due to some arguments with her elder sister. On this, a missing report was entered vide DD no.11 dated August 6, 2018 and search was started. Meanwhile, today it was reliably learnt that the said girl is at Kotranka in the house of her friend and she was traced accordingly and then handed over to her family after completion of legal formalities. Two thieves nabbed with stolen money STATE TIMES NEWS BHADARWAH: Police on Thursday solved a theft case by arresting two thieves and recovering stolen money. As per the detail, a local shopkeeper namely Zahoor Ahmed reported a theft case in his shop at Seri Bazar, Bhadarwah in Police Station Bhadarwah stating that his shop is located at Seri Bazar Bhaderwah and at 1: 20 PM he came out of his shop for water and after five minutes he came back and saw one person coming out of his shop with cash in his hand whom he can iden- tify but did not know his name. On checking cash box he came to know that Rs 52,000 have been stolen by that person. On this a case vide FIR No.136/2018 under section 379 RPC was registered and during investigation on examining CCTV footage the accused was identified as Talha son of Shabir Ahmed Sheikh resident of Saraf Mohalla. Police tactically apprehended him and on his disclosure amount of Rs 44000 were recovered and amount of Rs 7900 was recovered from his friend Omar son of Farooq Ahmed R/O Saraf Mohalla. Both the accused have been arrested and recovered the stolen amount. The arrest and recovery was made by Police Party of Police Station Bhadarwah led by SHO Bhadarwah Inp Muneer Khan under the supervision of SDPO Bhadarwah Touseef Ahmed, ASP Bhadarwah Rajinder Singh and overall supervision of SSP Doda Shabir Malik. Stolen bike recovered, lifter held STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Police on Thursday arrested a thief and recov- ered stolen bike on his disclosure. Acting on complaint of owner of bike Puran Singh son of Indar Singh resident of village Ritti locality, Roun Police Post team led by In charge Police Post Jaswinder Singh assisted by Sgt. Gian Singh and SPO Kuldeep Kumar under the supervision of Dy.SP (HQ) Kulbir Handa conducted raids to nab a local thieve and arrested him from Udhampur outskirt. STATE TIMES NEWS UDHAMPUR: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma along with District Development Commissioner, Udhampur Ravinder Kumar today inspected progress on tourism projects at Sudhmahadev and Mantalai. The twin places of religious and historical importance are being projected as major attraction for the tourists visit- ing Jammu and Kashmir. The Div Com also reviewed the achievements registered under agriculture and allied sector schemes in the area. He took detailed review of the progress on tourism, infra- structural projects besides flag- ship schemes of Agriculture Horticulture including promo- tion of cluster organic farming and indigenous practices being adopted by the farming com- munity of Sudhmahadev - Mantalai areas for their eco- nomic and social empower- ment. The Div Com inspected ongoing construction on International Yoga Centre Mantalai and instructed the concerned agencies for its time- ly completion. He asked Agriculture department to explore the possibility of devel- oping Potato farm, Apple orchards, Walnut orchards and other fruit orchards on State land. Later, the Divisional Commissioner chaired a meet- ing of District/ Sectoral officers of line departments and reviewed the functioning of these departments. The meeting had detailed dis- cussion on various vital issues pertaining to Agriculture, Horticulture, Health, PWD, PMGSY, PDD, Education and other sectors. The meeting stressed on widening of Chenani Sudhmahadev road and adopting multi pronged strategy to further streamline the working of executing agen- cies and other connected departments for time bound completion of projects aimed at promotion of tourism in the area. The Div Com emphasized upon the officers and executing agencies to speed up the pace of work on all developmental and tourism projects to ensure their timeline comple- tion. He directed the district administration to remove bot- tleneck, if any to avoid delay and cost escalation of the proj- ects. During the review meet- ing, the Div.Com directed the officers to work with full dedi- cation and accountability. He asked them to resolve the griev- ances of the common masses in a time bound manner and also organize awareness camps and workshops at block levels to enable maximum farmers to avail the benefits of schemes. He also asked the concerned to ensure availability of seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and other inputs for the farmers. The Divisional Commissioner also interacted with members of Umeed Self Help Group, NGOs, Sudhmahadev Vegetable Producer Company Ltd and appreciated their work. He gave a patient hearing to their demands and assured early redress. Div Com asked the DDC to identify land for establishment of Mandi to provide market to local agriculture produce and also identify suitable Place for shops on National highway where local producers can sell their packed products. He directed Agriculture, Horticulture and Rural Dev Department to work in coordi- nation for effective implemen- tation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes (CSS). Div Com inspects progress on tourism projects at Sudhmahadev, Mantalai Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Sanjeev Verma taking stock of works on projects at Udhampur.
