The workshop was organised to inform the benefits of the English Language Lab and how it can be useful for the staff members also in day-to-day working. The topics covered during the workshop were, Language Lab is an audio- visual lab in which all can learn, Learners can record their own voice and play back the recordings, inter- act with each other and the teacher, and also store results, Self-access for inde- pendent learning which includes access to resources outside class and vocabulary can be improved with the help of Language Lab. The purpose of a Language Lab is to involve students to actively partici- pate in language learning exercises and get more practice than otherwise possible in a traditional classroom environment. All the staff members actively participated in the workshop and enjoyed learning the new things of teaching. Appeal to appoint State Information Commr soon RAIPUR, June 24 CHHATTISGARH RTI Activists Association has made strong appeal to the State Government for the appointment of State Information Commissioner as soon as possible. In this regard association has sub- mitted memorandum to Chief Minister Dr Raman Singh, Chief Secretary and concerning minister, but till date no action has been taken. According to CGRTIAA State President Sanjay Singh Thakur it has been long that state government has not made any appointment of state information commissioner and case related to RTI are pending from long time. Earlier, chief information commissioner had burden of looking RTI related cases of 7 districts including Raipur, Baloda Bazaar, Gariyabandh, Dhamtari, Kanker Kawardha and Bemitara. Chief General Manager of NABARD, Chhattisgarh RO, Raipur Dr. R M Kummur inau- gurated the workshop. While addressing the workshop, Dr Kummur stressed the need for involvement of all partner insti- tutions like Industries Department, NABARD, SIDBI, LDMs, bankers, DICs, KVIC, KIVBs, industry bodies, Chhattisgarh Chamber of Commerce and Industries and established entrepreneurs. He also informed the participants that under this programme, 72 per cent of the population in the state (32 % Tribal, 12 % SC and 28 % Women of General Category) will be the target group. Under the scheme, there is provision of submission of application in web based portal (www.standupmi- tra.in ), later scrutiny and tracking will ensure complete transparency. Dr Kummur emphasized on three Cs - coor- dination, credit and convergence that will take the programme for- ward. The Stand Up India scheme is based on recognition of the challenges faced by SC, ST and women entrepreneurs in setting up enterprises, obtaining loans and other support needed from time to time for succeeding in business. Scheme endeavours to create an eco-system which facil- itates to provide a supportive environment for business. Stand Up India scheme’s main objective is to facilitate bank loans above Rs 10 lakh and upto Rs 1 crore to at least one Scheduled Caste (SC) or Scheduled Tribe (ST) borrower and atleast one woman borrower per bank branch for setting-up a green- field enterprise. This enterprise may be in manufacturing, serv- ices or the trading sector. SIDBI with 84 offices and NABARD hav- ing 419 offices will work as Stand Up India Connect Centres. This visit was scheduled as a part of curriculum and to provide a better understanding of the subject taught in the class room. The objective behind this visit is to know various produc- tion and operations techniques which will enable student to learn various dimension of management such as production function, planning along with marketing, finance and human resource. As a special initiative, the students of BBA III semester were taken to Ambuja Cement Plant which is one of the leading brand in cement industry. It is pro- fessionally managed and fast growing brand which they have nurtured by systematic planning and well defined strategy. The students were taken to actual production site and showed them with machinery, equipments and various electri- cal circuit which is used for cement manufacturing. Visitors were also taken to con- trol unit where they saw the close monitoring and functioning of machines through computer.
